What is CommonCapabilities?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
CommonCapabilities is part of the pack as version 2.9.7, shipped as the NeoForge 1.21.1 build. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The available data doesn't describe what CommonCapabilities does, and there's no guidebook or platform description to confirm it. I can't tell you who it's for or what it adds to your gameplay. As far as the data shows, no quests in this pack involve the mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star path, so you don't need to plan your progression around it.
How do you get started with CommonCapabilities?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.50 guide
I don't have a confirmed set of first steps for CommonCapabilities in this pack, so I'm keeping this section short instead of guessing.[2]
The one thing the mod's own language file confirms is that it has a configuration screen, whose title is built from the pattern "%s configuration".[2]
Unverified No in-pack recipes, quests or config options for CommonCapabilities were available to me, so I can't say which items to make first or in what order.
How does CommonCapabilities work?
2 parts
The sources I have for CommonCapabilities in this pack only cover its config file, so this section is short. They don't explain machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling, and I won't guess at how those work.[3]
Equality filters
The setting that touches item data is machine.general.ignoreNbtPathsForEqualityFilters. Its description says it lists the NBT paths that get filtered away when equality is checked, so those parts of an item's data are ignored in the comparison.[3]
In this pack the list holds the Astral Sorcery amulet holder capability data, the binding tag and the energy tag. The file doesn't say why the pack chose these, or which machines or filters use the setting.[3]
Startup and error handling
The other options control how the mod behaves when it loads. They don't change how machines work.[3]
- core.general.crashOnInvalidRecipe is false in this pack, so the recipe loader should not crash when it finds invalid recipes.[3]
- core.general.crashOnModCompatCrash is false, so the mod compatibility loader should not crash hard if errors occur in that process.[3]
- core.general.versionChecker is true, so the version checker is enabled.[3]
- core.general.analytics is true. The description says this allows an anonymous startup analytics request to be sent to the mod's analytics service.[3]
Unverified How CommonCapabilities handles machines, multiblocks, power, fluids and item automation in this pack is unverified. No guidebook, documentation, lang descriptions or recipes were available for this mod.
Which CommonCapabilities config options matter?
3 parts
CommonCapabilities has only a handful of options in its common config, and most of them are housekeeping. Here is exactly how the pack sets them in config/commoncapabilities-common.toml.[3]
Crash behavior
- core.general.crashOnInvalidRecipe is set to false, so the recipe loader will not crash when it finds invalid recipes.[3]
- core.general.crashOnModCompatCrash is set to false, so the mod compatibility loader will not crash hard if errors occur in that process.[3]
Analytics and version checking
- core.general.analytics is set to true. This controls whether an anonymous mod startup analytics request may be sent to the mod's analytics service. If you would rather not allow that, this is the option to look at.[3]
- core.general.versionChecker is set to true, so the version checker is enabled.[3]
Equality filter NBT paths
machine.general.ignoreNbtPathsForEqualityFilters lists the NBT paths that are filtered away when equality is checked. In this pack it contains the entries below.[3]
