What is CommonCapabilities?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
CommonCapabilities is part of the pack as version 2.9.7, shipped as the NeoForge 1.21.1 build. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The available data doesn't describe what CommonCapabilities does, and there's no guidebook or platform description to confirm it. I can't tell you who it's for or what it adds to your gameplay. As far as the data shows, no quests in this pack involve the mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star path, so you don't need to plan your progression around it.
How do you get started with CommonCapabilities?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.50 guide
I don't have a confirmed set of first steps for CommonCapabilities in this pack, so I'm keeping this section short instead of guessing.[2]
The one thing the mod's own language file confirms is that it has a configuration screen, whose title is built from the pattern "%s configuration".[2]
Unverified No in-pack recipes, quests or config options for CommonCapabilities were available to me, so I can't say which items to make first or in what order.
How does CommonCapabilities work?
2 parts
The sources for this mod only cover its config file, so this section is short. They don't explain how its machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling and automation work, and I won't guess at them. What they do show is how the pack sets up CommonCapabilities.[3]
Equality filtering
The pack sets machine.general.ignoreNbtPathsForEqualityFilters to a list of NBT paths that are filtered away when the mod checks equality. The paths are the Astral Sorcery amulet holder item capability (astralsorcery:cap_item_amulet_holder under ForgeCaps), plus binding and energy.[3]
So those NBT values are left out of equality checks. The sources don't say how the filters behave in game, so I can't tell you which machines or automation setups this affects.[3]
Loader and startup behavior
- core.general.crashOnInvalidRecipe is false in the pack, so the recipe loader is not set to crash when it finds invalid recipes.[3]
- core.general.crashOnModCompatCrash is false, so the mod compatibility loader is not set to crash hard if errors occur in that process.[3]
- core.general.versionChecker is true, so the version checker is enabled.[3]
- core.general.analytics is true, so an anonymous mod startup analytics request may be sent to the mod's analytics service.[3]
Which CommonCapabilities config options matter?
3 parts
CommonCapabilities has only a handful of options in this pack, and you will rarely need to touch them. They all live in the common config file. Here is what each one does and how the pack sets it.[3]
Filtering NBT when comparing items
machine.general.ignoreNbtPathsForEqualityFilters is the option most likely to matter in play. It lists NBT paths that get filtered away when the mod checks whether stacks are equal. This pack fills the list with the Astral Sorcery amulet holder capability data under ForgeCaps, plus the generic binding and energy paths.[3]
Crash behavior
- core.general.crashOnInvalidRecipe is set to false in this pack, so the recipe loader does not crash when it finds an invalid recipe.[3]
- core.general.crashOnModCompatCrash is set to false in this pack, so errors in the mod compatibility loader do not crash the game hard.[3]
Analytics and version checking
- core.general.analytics is true in this pack. It controls whether an anonymous startup analytics request may be sent to the mod's analytics service.[3]
- core.general.versionChecker is true in this pack, so the version checker is enabled.[3]
