What is Wireless Chargers?

1 part

Wireless Chargers is a small utility mod that adds chargers which power up things around them without any cables. There are chargers for players and chargers for blocks, and you can toggle a highlight to see exactly which area a charger covers.[1]

It's for you if you're tired of swapping charged tools and armor in and out of chargers by hand, or if you want machines near a charger to be topped up with Forge Energy (FE) automatically. This pack ships version 1.0.9+a of the mod, and it has been in the pack since 0.32 or earlier.[1][2]

The four chargers

The advanced versions cover a bigger area and charge four times faster per player or block than the basic ones.[1]

Unverified The figures above come from the mod's project page. The sources I have don't confirm whether this pack changes any of these values or recipes, and they don't show where the chargers fit in the pack's progression. They also don't show any quests or ATM Star path involvement for this mod.

How do you get started with Wireless Chargers?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Wireless Chargers does one thing: it charges things without cables. Some chargers fill the items of players nearby, and others charge nearby blocks. Each kind has a basic and an advanced tier, so the order to make them in is simple.[1]

Step 1: Pick your basic charger

Start with a basic charger. Which one depends on what you want to power. The Basic Wireless Player Charger charges the items of players in range, so it suits your gear. The Basic Wireless Block Charger charges blocks nearby, so you can skip running cables to them.[1][3][4]

Charges nearby blocks, such as your machines.

Several of the ingredients in these recipes are common tags rather than single items, so the pack accepts any matching item for those slots.[3]

What the basic chargers give you

  • Basic player charger: charges players' items in a 9x9x9 area at 50 FE/t per player.[1]
  • Basic block charger: charges blocks in a 5x5x5 area at 50 FE/t per block.[1]

The tooltip on each charger shows its area, its charging rate and how much energy it currently has stored. You can also toggle a highlight on a charger to see its effective area in the world.[1][4]

Step 2: Upgrade to the advanced tier

Once the basic chargers are working, upgrade them. Each advanced recipe is built around its basic counterpart, so craft the basic charger first and keep it for the upgrade.[3]

The advanced tier covers a bigger area and charges faster than the basic one. If you have machines spread around a room, or you want your gear topped up as you move around your base, it's worth the upgrade.[1]

Advancements to chase

The mod has its own advancements: crafting any wireless charger, crafting an advanced wireless player charger, and crafting an advanced wireless block charger.[4]

How does Wireless Chargers work?

4 parts

Wireless Chargers is a small mod with one job: it charges things around it without cables or batteries. Each charger affects everything inside a cube centered on it, and you can toggle a highlight to see that area. There are two kinds (player and block) and two tiers (basic and advanced), so four machines in total.[1]

Player chargers vs. block chargers

A player charger charges the items carried by players standing inside its area. A block charger charges blocks, meaning machines and other energy-accepting blocks inside its area. The in-game tooltips say the same thing, and they also show the area size and the charging rate.[1][4]

The rate is applied per target. A player charger gives its rate to each player in range, and a block charger gives its rate to each block in range. If several players or blocks are inside the area, each one gets the full rate.[1][4]

The four chargers

The advanced tier gives you a bigger area and four times the charging rate. Block chargers cover a smaller area than player chargers at the same tier.[1]

Tip: Not sure how far a charger reaches? Use the area highlight toggle to see the exact cube it covers before you place your machines or stand in it.[1]

Reading the tooltip

Each charger's info display shows the area size, the charging rate per player or per block, and an energy readout in the form stored / capacity. Check it to confirm the numbers on your own charger.[4]

Crafting

All four chargers are shaped crafting recipes. Here is the basic player charger.[5]

Crafting a charger also unlocks the mod's advancements. Crafting any wireless charger gives one, the advanced wireless block charger gives another, and the advanced wireless player charger gives a third.[4]

Unverified This pack has no config files for the mod, so I couldn't check whether it changes the areas or charging rates above. They come from the mod's own project page. The sources also don't say how a charger gets its energy (what powers it, which sides accept energy, or how much it can store), whether it works with automation, or whether it needs a redstone signal. Check the tooltip in-game for the stored energy figure.

How do you progress through Wireless Chargers?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Wireless Chargers in this pack is split into a basic and an advanced tier, and each tier has a player charger and a block charger. All of the recipes below are the mod's own recipes.[3]

Basic tier

You start with the Basic Wireless Player Charger and the Basic Wireless Block Charger. Both are shaped crafting recipes, so you can make either one straight away without any earlier charger.[3]

Advanced tier

The Advanced Wireless Player Charger and the Advanced Wireless Block Charger are upgrades. Each is crafted from the basic charger of the same type, so make the basic version first and keep it for the upgrade.[3]

Tip: These recipes ask for materials by tag (glowstone dust, ender pearls, iron ingots, gold ingots and redstone blocks), so any item in the matching tag works. You don't need one particular mod's version of those materials.[3]

Which Wireless Chargers config options matter?

1 part

The two things you're most likely to care about with Wireless Chargers are how far a charger reaches and how fast it charges. The mod's project page lists figures for both on each charger. These are the mod's own listed figures, not values confirmed for this pack.[1]

Unverified No Wireless Chargers config values for this pack were available, so whether the pack kept the mod's listed figures or changed any of them (ranges, charge rates or anything else) is unverified. Check the config folder in your own instance before relying on the numbers below.

What the mod's project page lists

Tip: You can toggle a highlight on a charger to show its effective area, so you can check the real range in your world without opening any config.[1]

What changed in Wireless Chargers between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 0.50 ships Wireless Chargers at version 1.0.9+a. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 0.32 or earlier, so you have had it for a good while.[2]

Mod changelog

  • 1.0.9: the initial release of Wireless Chargers for Minecraft 1.21.[6]
  • 1.0.9a: fixed ring models not rendering correctly. This is the version in the pack now.[2][6]

There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so I can't tell you whether the pack changed anything about it between releases.[2]
