What is PotionsMaster?

PotionsMaster is included in this pack as version 0.7.1-packdev. The file name shows it is a pack-specific development build rather than a regular public release.[1]

Unverified The available sources don't describe what PotionsMaster adds, how it works, or who it's aimed at. There is no guidebook or mod page to check, so treat any gameplay details you hear elsewhere as unconfirmed until you test them in-game.

Unverified No quests in this pack cover PotionsMaster, and the mod isn't part of the ATM Star path, so it doesn't appear to be required for progression.

How do you get started with PotionsMaster?

5 parts

Everything in this mod starts with two tools: the Mortar and the Pestle. The Ender Powder recipe and every oresight powder recipe in this pack need both, so craft them first.[2]

Step 1: Craft the Mortar

The Mortar uses the mod's own recipe and is made from early-game blocks, so you can craft it right away.[2]

Step 2: Craft the Pestle

The Pestle also uses the mod's own recipe. It needs gems, so you may have to do a bit of mining or a Nether trip before you can make it.[2]

Step 3: Grind some Ender Powder

With both tools in hand, grind Ender Powder in a shapeless crafting recipe. Make a few, because every oresight powder recipe in this pack uses Ender Powder.[2]

Unverified The sources don't say whether the Pestle and Mortar stay in the crafting grid, lose durability, or get used up when you craft with them. Test this before you plan a big batch.

Step 4: Make your first oresight powder

Now you can make oresight powders. This pack adds its own shaped recipes for them, one per material. Each one uses Ender Powder, the Pestle and the Mortar, plus the material you want the powder for. A good first pick is one for a common resource, like Iron Oresight Powder or Coal Oresight Powder.[2]

The pack has versions for vanilla materials like Gold Oresight Powder, Diamond Oresight Powder and Netherite Scrap Oresight Powder. It also covers modded metals such as Osmium Oresight Powder, Tin Oresight Powder and Allthemodium Oresight Powder.[2]

Step 5: Calcinate it in a Blast Furnace

Every oresight powder has a calcinated version, and this pack adds a blasting recipe for each one. Put your powder in a Blast Furnace to turn it into its calcinated form, for example Calcinated Iron Oresight Powder.[2]

Tip: These recipes are made with blasting, not normal smelting, so build a Blast Furnace instead of relying on a regular furnace for this step.[2]

Unverified The sources don't explain what oresight powders or calcinated oresight powders are used for next, such as the potions they go into or what effect those potions have. Check JEI or EMI in-game for recipes that use the calcinated powders. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does PotionsMaster work?

3 parts

The sources for this pack cover one system in PotionsMaster: oresight powders. Each ore has its own config file, and the pack adds a crafting recipe for each matching powder, so that's what this section explains. The sources don't document any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid handling or automation for this mod.[2][3][4]

How ore entries are defined

Every supported ore has its own JSON file in the potionsmaster config folder. Each file has the same five keys: entryname, oretag, color, order and drawing. In the iron file, for example, the entry name is "iron", the ore tag is c:ores/iron, the color is -1785686, the order is 0 and drawing is false.[4]

The ore tag is the key part. Instead of naming one specific ore block, each entry points at a common c:ores tag, like c:ores/diamond or c:ores/osmium. So each entry works with a whole tag rather than a single block.[4][5][6]

Tip: File names don't always match entry names. The netherite file is named netherite.json, but its entryname is "netherite_scrap" and its tag is c:ores/netherite_scrap. That matches the Netherite Scrap Oresight Powder item.[2][7]

Ore entries in this pack

Here's every ore entry the pack ships, with its tag, its order and drawing values, and the matching powder item where the recipe list shows one.[2][3]

Unverified The unobtainium, uranium, vibranium and zinc config entries have no matching powder item or recipe in the recipes shown here. The recipe list is cut off, though, so these could still exist in the pack.

Crafting oresight powders

All the oresight powder recipes are shaped crafting recipes the pack added itself. They follow the same pattern: a shared base of ingredients, including the Pestle, the Mortar and Ender Powder, plus in most cases one ingredient specific to that ore. Many recipes accept any item from a tag for that ore-specific slot, so raw materials or gems from different mods can all work.[2]

Unverified The sources don't confirm whether the Pestle and Mortar are used up during crafting or given back to you, what an oresight powder does once crafted, or exactly how the color, order and drawing settings change what you see in game.

How do you progress through PotionsMaster?

4 parts

PotionsMaster in this pack follows a short crafting chain: make the grinding tools, turn Ender Pearls into Ender Powder, grind that into oresight powders for the ore you want, then bake those powders into calcinated versions. The oresight and calcinated recipes are added by the pack itself, so what you see in-game here is the pack's own setup, not the mod's defaults.[2]

  1. Craft the Mortar and the Pestle.[2]
  2. Use them to grind an Ender Pearl into Ender Powder.[2]
  3. Craft an oresight powder for the ore or gem you care about, using Ender Powder plus your tools.[2]
  4. Smelt that oresight powder in a blast furnace to get its calcinated version.[2]

Tier 1: Mortar and Pestle

Everything starts with the Mortar and Pestle. These use the mod's normal recipes, and you'll need them for Ender Powder and for every oresight powder, so make them first.[2]

Tier 2: Ender Powder

Next up is Ender Powder, a shapeless recipe that grinds an Ender Pearl with your Mortar and Pestle. Every single oresight powder in the pack needs Ender Powder, so it's worth stocking up on Ender Pearls before you go further.[2]

Tier 3: Oresight Powders

This is the core of the mod. The pack adds a shaped recipe for each oresight powder, and they all follow the same pattern: the shared base of Ender Powder and your tools, plus one material that decides which ore the powder is for. Here's the iron one as an example; the others look the same, just with a different material slot.[2]

Every other oresight powder uses the same layout with a different material.

The powders you can make in this pack cover vanilla materials, common modded metals and the pack's special metals:[2]

Tip: Most metal powders accept any item from the matching raw material tag, and the gem powders accept any item from the matching gem tag. So raw ore from whichever mod you happened to mine it with works fine, and you don't need to hunt down one specific version.[2]

The special metal powders use the same layout as the rest.

Tier 4: Calcinated Powders

The last step is calcination. The pack adds a blasting recipe for every oresight powder, so you drop the powder into a blast furnace and get the calcinated version back, for example Iron Oresight Powder becomes Calcinated Iron Oresight Powder. There's a calcinated version for every powder above, from Calcinated Coal Oresight Powder all the way to Calcinated Unobtainium Oresight Powder.[2]

Blasting

Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/potionsmaster_calcinated_iron_oresight_powder

Every calcinated powder is made the same way from its oresight powder.

Unverified What each oresight or calcinated powder does after you craft it, such as how it's brewed into a potion, what effect it gives or how long it lasts, isn't covered by the pack's recipe data, so check it in-game before you rely on it. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Which PotionsMaster config options matter?

2 parts

In this pack, PotionsMaster is configured one ore at a time. Each ore has its own small JSON file in the config/potionsmaster folder, and each file has the same keys: color, drawing, entryname, order and oretag. For example, the iron file sets entryname to iron and oretag to c:ores/iron.[4]

Which ores have a config file

How this pack sets the keys

Unverified The sources only show this pack's values. They don't include PotionsMaster's default settings or explain what the drawing, order and color keys do in game. So it's unconfirmed whether the pack changed any of these from the defaults, and whether an entry picks up every ore that uses its tag.

What changed in PotionsMaster between versions?

PotionsMaster has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier. All the Mods 10 5.0 ships PotionsMaster 0.7.1-packdev. The pack changelogs only record version bumps for this mod, so here is how it moved along.[1]

  • All the Mods 10 2.31: updated from 0.6.6-packdev to 0.6.7-packdev.[25]
  • All the Mods 10 2.34: updated from 0.6.7-packdev to 0.6.8-packdev.[26]
  • All the Mods 10 2.42: updated from 0.6.8-packdev to 0.6.9.1-packdev.[27]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 0.6.9.1-packdev to 0.7.1-packdev, the version still in 5.0.[1][28]

Unverified The pack changelogs don't say what changed inside PotionsMaster in each update, and there are no stored changelogs for the shipped jars. I can't confirm any new features, fixes or balance changes from these updates.
