What is Measurements?

Measurements is one of the mods that comes with the pack. This pack includes version 3.0.0, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[1]

It's not a new addition. It was already in the pack as of version 0.32 or earlier, so it has been around for a while.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm what Measurements actually does, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. The sources I have only list that the mod is included. They don't describe its features, items, recipes or configs. I also can't confirm any quests or ATM Star path steps for it, so I'm not guessing about them.

How do you get started with Measurements?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Getting started with Measurements is short and simple. The mod's one item in this pack's recipe data is the Tape Measure, so that is the first (and only) thing to craft.[2]

Step 1: Craft the Tape Measure

The Tape Measure uses a shaped crafting recipe, so the layout in the grid matters. Follow the in-pack recipe below exactly rather than guessing the arrangement.[2]

Tape MeasureMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: measurements:tape_measure

This is a shaped crafting recipe, and the iron slot accepts any iron ingot.

Unverified What the Tape Measure does once you hold it, such as how you take a measurement, what it shows and what controls it has, is not shown by the sources here. No guidebook or item descriptions for the mod were available, so check it in game.

How does Measurements work?

2 parts

Measurements is a small, client-side-flavored mod, and the sources I have for this pack only cover one item and its display settings. The item is the Tape Measure. There are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item-automation systems in the sources, so I'm not going to invent any.[3][4]

Getting the Tape Measure

The pack has a crafting recipe for the Tape Measure. It is a shaped recipe, and one of its inputs accepts any iron ingot from the shared ingot tag, so you aren't tied to a specific mod's iron.[4]

Display settings

The pack ships a client config at config/measurements-client.toml. The option names and descriptions refer to a line and to text, so these settings control how a measurement looks on your screen. Every value below matches the mod's listed default, so the pack doesn't change any of them.[3]

  • client.lineColor sets the line color. It is YELLOW in the pack. You can also pick RANDOM or any of the standard dye colors.[3]
  • client.lineWidth sets the line thickness. It is 2 in the pack, with an allowed range of 1.0 to 16.0.[3]
  • client.lineWidthMax sets the line thickness when the line is further away. It is 2 in the pack, with an allowed range of 1 to 16.[3]
  • client.textColor sets the text color. It is YELLOW in the pack. It accepts the same colors as the line, plus RANDOM and XYZRGB.[3]
  • client.textSize sets the text size. It is 0.02 in the pack, with an allowed range of 0.01 to 0.1.[3]
Tip: If the yellow lines are hard to see against a sandy or bright background, try changing the line color or raising the line width. Both are client settings, so they only affect how things look for you.[3]

Unverified The sources don't explain how to use the Tape Measure in-game (how you set points, what it displays, or whether it has any limits). The mod has no in-jar guidebook or documented tooltips that I could draw on, so check it in a test world before relying on it.

How do you progress through Measurements?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Measurements doesn't have a tier ladder in this pack. The only thing the sources show for it is a single craftable item, the Tape Measure, so there's no progression path to walk through here.[2]

The Tape Measure is made with a shaped crafting recipe that comes from the mod itself. Here's the exact in-pack recipe:[2]

This is a shaped crafting table recipe, and it is the only Measurements recipe in the pack's recipe dump.

Unverified The sources here show no quest for this mod, so any quest-driven milestones would be in the pack's quest book, and nothing there is confirmed for you. No in-jar guidebook turned up either, so anything about further tiers or upgrades is unverified.

Which Measurements config options matter?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Measurements only has client-side options, all in config/measurements-client.toml. They control how the measuring lines and their text look on your screen. In this pack, every one of them is set to the mod default, so nothing has been changed from what the mod ships with.[5]

Line options

  • client.lineColor is set to YELLOW, which is the mod default. You can switch it to RANDOM or any of the standard dye colors, such as WHITE, LIME, CYAN or RED.[5]
  • client.lineWidth is 2, the mod default. It sets how thick the line is, and accepts values from 1.0 to 16.0.[5]
  • client.lineWidthMax is also 2, the mod default. It sets the thickness when the line is further away, and accepts values from 1 to 16.[5]

Text options

  • client.textColor is YELLOW, the mod default. It accepts the same colors as the line, plus RANDOM and XYZRGB.[5]
  • client.textSize is 0.02, the mod default. It accepts values from 0.01 to 0.1.[5]
Tip: If the measurement text is hard to read, raise textSize a little or change textColor and lineColor to something that stands out against your base. These are client settings, so they only change what you see.[5]
