What is Laser Bridges & Doors?
4 parts
Laser Bridges & Doors adds futuristic laser platforms, doors and fences to the pack. They appear when you power a laser source block with a redstone signal, so you can build bridges across gaps or sealed entrances that switch on and off.[1]
The laser's length depends on the strength of the redstone signal, and it updates dynamically as the signal changes. That makes it easy to build bridges that extend or retract on demand.[1]
Things worth knowing
- You can color a laser source block by clicking it with a dye, or by using a dispenser to apply the dye.[1]
- Full block laser sources are meant for more complicated redstone contraptions.[1]
- A Laser Source Block can be converted into a Laser Fence Source Block in the crafting grid, and the conversion works both ways.[1]
Who it's for
This is a building and redstone mod. If you like automated bases, secure entrances or sci-fi style bridges, it fits right in.[1]
Configuration
You can configure the mod in-game or by editing config/laserbridges.json. The max_length option sets the longest laser a fully powered source can produce, and shorter lengths are calculated from it. The mod's default is 15, but the sources don't show whether this pack changes it. The blocks_cut_through_by_lasers option lists the blocks that lasers can replace.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Laser Bridges & Doors 1.21.1-1-neoforge, and it has been included since All the Mods 10 1.1 or earlier.[2]
Unverified The sources don't place this mod anywhere in the pack's progression. Treat it as an optional building and redstone mod rather than a required step.
How do you get started with Laser Bridges & Doors?
1 part
This mod adds futuristic-looking laser bridges, doors and fences. They form when a laser source block is activated by a redstone signal, so the first things you need are a laser source and a bit of redstone to switch it on.[1]
Your first steps
- Get a laser source block. It is the heart of the mod, and the bridges, doors and fences all come from laser sources.[1]
- Place it and power it with redstone. The laser only forms once the source is activated.[1]
- Try different signal strengths. The laser's length depends on the redstone signal strength and updates dynamically, so a weaker signal gives you a shorter bridge or door.[1]
- Color it if you like. Click the source with a dye in hand, or use a dispenser to apply the dye.[1]
- Once you are comfortable, use the full block laser sources to build more complicated redstone contraptions.[1]
Unverified I could not confirm how to craft or otherwise obtain laser source blocks in this pack, so there is no recipe block here. The mod's project page describes a crafting recipe and a two-way conversion between the laser source and the laser fence source, but that is not confirmed as the in-pack recipe. Check a recipe viewer such as JEI in-game before relying on it. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Unverified The mod's project page mentions a configurable maximum laser length, but I could not confirm that setting or its value in this pack, so check in-game if your lasers are longer or shorter than you expect.
How does Laser Bridges & Doors work?
4 parts
Laser Bridges & Doors is a redstone-driven mod. A laser source block creates laser platforms (bridges), doors and fences when a redstone signal activates it. The available sources describe no machines, multiblocks, energy, fluids or item automation for this mod, so everything here is about redstone and the laser sources themselves.[1]
Redstone and laser length
The length of a laser depends on the strength of the redstone signal feeding the source, and it updates dynamically. If you change the signal, the laser changes with it. That makes a source easy to use as an adjustable bridge or door.[1]
The mod's project page says a fully powered source produces the longest laser, and every shorter length is calculated from that maximum. It gives the mod's default maximum as 15.[1]
Colors and contraptions
You can color a laser source block by clicking it with a dye in hand. A dispenser can also apply the dye, which is handy when you want to recolor sources automatically.[1]
The mod also has full block laser sources, which are meant for building more complicated redstone contraptions.[1]
Fence sources
Besides the normal Laser Source Block, the mod has a Laser Fence Source Block that produces laser fences. The project page says the two can be converted into each other by crafting, but I could not confirm that recipe in this pack.[1]
Cutting through blocks
The mod's project page says it has a list of blocks that lasers are allowed to replace. Its contents and whether it can be edited in this pack could not be confirmed.[1]
Unverified How you obtain laser source blocks in this pack, and which settings of the mod apply here, could not be confirmed from the available sources.
What changed in Laser Bridges & Doors between versions?
There isn't much history to tell for Laser Bridges & Doors in this pack. All the Mods 10 1.7 ships version 1.21.1-1-neoforge of the mod, and it has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 1.1 or earlier.[2]
The mod's own changelog for that version has a single entry: it was updated to 1.21.1 for NeoForge. That's the only mod-side change on record.[3]
Unverified No pack changelog entries exist for this mod, so any changes to its behavior, recipes or config between pack releases are unverified.
