What is Dyson Cube Project?

1 part

Dyson Cube Project is part of this pack, included as version 1.0.1. It has been in the pack since 4.13 or earlier, so it isn't a new addition in this release.[1]

Beyond that, the sources I have don't say what the mod adds, who it's aimed at, or how it plays. I'd rather leave that out than guess and send you down the wrong path.[1]

Where it fits in progression

There are no quests in this pack that involve this mod, and it is not on the ATM Star quest path. You won't be nudged toward it by the questbook, so any use of it is your own choice rather than a required step.[1]

Unverified What Dyson Cube Project actually adds (items, machines, mechanics), its recipes, any pack-specific config changes, and how it fits into the pack's tech progression are not confirmed by the available sources, so none of that is described here.

How do you get started with Dyson Cube Project?

4 parts

Dyson Cube Project in this pack comes down to a short chain of crafted parts. The pack has changed the recipe for every one of these items, so the crafting grids below are the pack's versions, not the mod's defaults.[2]

First, make a Beam

Start with the Beam. It is an ingredient in the Beam Package and in both controllers, so it is the part you will use most.[2]

Next, make a Solar Sail

Then craft the Solar Sail. It is the other base part. You need it for the Solar Sail Package and for the Ray Receiver Controller.[2]

Pack them up

Both base parts have a packaged version. The Beam Package is crafted from a Beam, and the Solar Sail Package is crafted from a Solar Sail.[2]

Craft the controllers

With Beams and Solar Sails in hand, you can make the controllers. The EM Rail Ejector Controller uses a Beam. The Ray Receiver Controller uses both a Beam and a Solar Sail.[2]

Tip: Craft a good stack of Beams early. The Beam Package, the EM Rail Ejector Controller and the Ray Receiver Controller all use a Beam in their recipes, so running out will stall you.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show how the controllers are set up or what the packages are used for. No quests in this pack involve the mod, and no in-jar guidebook was found for it.

How does Dyson Cube Project work?

3 parts

The sources I have for this mod only cover its crafting chain, not how its machines and multiblocks behave once they are built. So this section is short on purpose, and I'm only describing what can be confirmed.[2]

The crafting chain

Everything here starts from the basic components: the Beam and the Solar Sail. The pack has changed the recipes for both, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[2]

Packages

Each component has a packaged version with its own recipe, also changed by the pack: the Beam Package is made from the beam, and the Solar Sail Package is made from the solar sail.[2]

The mod's text includes a tooltip that reads "Contains %s solar sail(s)", where the %s is filled in with a count. The sources don't say which item shows it.[3]

Controllers

The controller blocks you can craft are the EM Rail Ejector Controller and the Ray Receiver Controller. Both use a beam as a crafting component, and the pack has changed both recipes. The ray receiver controller also needs a solar sail.[2]

Unverified How the controllers are assembled into multiblocks, what power they use or produce, how items move in and out, and how solar sails are launched or received are not covered by the sources here. No guidebook, config files or documentation were available for this mod in the pack, so check these in-game before relying on them.

How do you progress through Dyson Cube Project?

3 parts

The sources here show no quest path for this mod, so the progression comes from how the crafting recipes depend on each other. Every Dyson Cube Project recipe in the pack is marked as changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's default recipes. The ones below are what you actually craft here.[2]

First: Beams and Solar Sails

Everything starts with the Beam and the Solar Sail. Neither needs another mod item crafted first, and the rest of the chain is built on them.[2]

The pack changed this recipe too, and it needs no other Dyson Cube Project item.

Next: Packages

Then you bundle each component into a package. The Beam Package is made from a Beam, and the Solar Sail Package is made from a Solar Sail. Each package is one crafting step on top of its component.[2]

Last: The controllers

The controllers also build on the first components. The EM Rail Ejector Controller needs a Beam, so you can make it without any Solar Sails. The Ray Receiver Controller needs a Beam and a Solar Sail, so it is the last item in this chain to unlock.[2]

Tip: Make Beams and Solar Sails first and keep a stock of both. Beams go into the Beam Package and both controllers, and Solar Sails go into the Solar Sail Package and the Ray Receiver Controller.[2]

What changed in Dyson Cube Project between versions?

Dyson Cube Project is a fairly new face in the pack. It was added in All the Mods 10 4.13, and the version that came in was 1.0.0.[4]

In All the Mods 10 4.14 the pack ships Dyson Cube Project 1.0.1. That's a single version step since the mod arrived.[1][4]

  • All the Mods 10 4.13: Dyson Cube Project added at version 1.0.0.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 4.14: the pack includes version 1.0.1.[1]

Unverified What changed between Dyson Cube Project 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 is unverified. No changelogs for the shipped jars are available, so I can't say whether the update brought fixes, balance changes or new content.
