Dyson Cube Project is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.0.5. Build a Dyson Sphere around the sun and harvest its power (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Dyson Cube Project?

2 parts

Dyson Cube Project is a power mod built around launching Solar Sails and Beams into orbit around the Sun, then collecting that energy on the ground. This pack includes version 1.0.5, and the mod has been in the pack since 4.13 or earlier.[1][2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book covers it in the Basic Power chapter with the quest "Dyson Cube" quest. That quest comes after the End Game Power Options quest. It calls the Dyson Cube the ultimate power source, producing 1GFE/t.[2]

How it works

The quest asks you to hand in two items. Set up an EM Rail Ejector Controller to launch Solar Sails and Beams into orbit. Then build a Ray Receiver Controller to collect the energy. The receiver outputs power from the center of its bottom face.[2]

  • You can feed items into the ejector automatically through the center of its bottom face. The quest says you will definitely need automation to reach maximum power output.[2]
  • The ejector cannot fire at midday, at night, or during rain.[2]
  • The receiver cannot receive power during night or rain.[2]
  • You can package beams and sails into bundles for faster launches, which the quest says is much easier than sending them one by one.[2]
Tip: For maximum output, the quest says you need to send 8,333,333 beams and 49,999,998 sails into orbit. Get robust resource generation in place before you start scaling up to that level.[2]

How do you get started with Dyson Cube Project?

5 parts

This mod is all about stealing the Sun. In this pack, the goal is the quest "Dyson Cube" quest in the Basic Power chapter, and it comes after the End Game Power Options quest. So treat it as a late-game project: the first steps below get you started, and the real scaling comes later.[2]

The payoff is big. The quest calls the Dyson Cube the ultimate power source, producing 1GFE/t. It has two tasks: get an EM Rail Ejector Controller and a Ray Receiver Controller.[2]

Tip: Every Dyson Cube Project recipe in this pack has been changed from the mod's defaults. Trust the recipe blocks below, not what you remember from other packs.[3]

Step 1: Make a Beam

Start with the Beam. It is one of the two things you launch into orbit, and the launcher, the receiver and the Beam Package all use it in their recipes.[2][3]

How does Dyson Cube Project work?

4 parts

Dyson Cube Project is about, in the mod's own words, stealing the Sun. The sources for this pack only explain a small part of how that works, so this section covers what can be confirmed and leaves the rest out.[4]

Launching sails with the EM Rail Ejector

The EM Rail Ejector Controller is tied to sail ejection. The mod tracks your progress with advancements that fire when 5%, 15%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the sails are ejected. So the goal is to build up a whole sphere of sails.[4]

One of the mod's tooltips says power is optional, and that with power it allows you to ramp up how many beams or sails are ejected.[4]

Sails, beams and their packages

The Solar Sail and the Beam each have a packaged version: the Solar Sail Package and the Beam Package. All of these recipes are changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's defaults if you've played it elsewhere.[3]

The Ray Receiver Controller is the other controller with a recipe in the pack. That recipe is changed by the pack, and it uses both a beam and a solar sail.[3]

What the sources don't show

Unverified The sources here do not show any config values for this mod or an in-jar guidebook, so exact power use, ejection rates and how the multiblocks are assembled are not confirmed in this section. Check them in-game before you plan a build around them.

How do you progress through Dyson Cube Project?

5 parts

In this pack, Dyson Cube Project has a single quest, "Dyson Cube" quest, in the Basic Power chapter. It unlocks after End Game Power Options and is pitched as the ultimate power source, producing 1GFE/t at full output. The quest asks you to obtain two things: the EM Rail Ejector Controller and the Ray Receiver Controller.[2]

The sources don't define separate tiers for this mod. The path below follows the quest and the in-pack recipes, which the pack has changed from the mod's defaults.[2][3]

Step 1: Beams and Solar Sails

Everything starts with the two things you launch into orbit: Beam and Solar Sail. The pack changed both recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[2][3]

Step 2: The EM Rail Ejector Controller

The EM Rail Ejector Controller launches Solar Sails and Beams into orbit around the Sun. You can feed it items automatically through the center of its bottom face, and the quest says you'll definitely need automation to reach maximum power output.[2]

Scaling up

For maximum output, the quest says you need to send 8,333,333 beams and 49,999,998 sails into orbit. That's a lot, so build robust resource generation and automation before you scale toward it.[2]

How does Dyson Cube Project work with other mods?

2 parts

The only cross-mod link I can confirm in this pack is with Allthemodium. The pack adds two custom recipes that connect the Dyson Cube's Beam Package and Solar Sail Package to plates from that metal.[3]

Allthemodium package recipes

Both recipes are shaped crafting recipes added by the pack, and each one takes plates from the allthemodium plates tag. The recipe lines also name the custom items Allthemodium Beam Package and Allthemodium Solar Sail Package. Here are the exact in-pack recipes.[3]

Where the quest fits

The "Dyson Cube" quest quest in the Basic Power chapter comes after End Game Power Options. It asks you to get an EM Rail Ejector Controller and a Ray Receiver Controller. Its text says the Dyson Cube makes 1GFE/t, and that for maximum output you need to send 8,333,333 beams and 49,999,998 sails into orbit, so build solid resource generation first. Both of its tasks use only Dyson Cube Project items, so the quest itself doesn't show a link to another mod.[2]

Tip: The quest says you can bundle beams and sails into packages for faster launches. Since the pack adds recipes that use allthemodium plates for the package items, plan your plate supply early if you're aiming for full output.[2][3]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Dyson Cube Project?

2 parts

The Dyson Cube Project only shows up in one place in the quest book: a single quest in the "Basic Power" chapter. It's a late-game power quest, and it unlocks after the quest called "End Game Power Options".[2]

Dyson Cube

"Dyson Cube" quest has two item tasks: build an EM Rail Ejector Controller and a Ray Receiver Controller. The quest describes the Dyson Cube as the ultimate power source, producing 1GFE/t.[2]

  • The EM Rail Ejector Controller launches Solar Sails and Beams into orbit around the Sun. You can feed items in automatically through the center of its bottom face.[2]
  • The quest says it cannot fire at midday, at night, or during rain.[2]
  • The Ray Receiver Controller collects the energy. It outputs power from the center of its bottom face, but it cannot receive power during night or rain.[2]

Scaling up

The quest says you'll definitely need automation to reach maximum output. It also suggests packaging beams and sails into bundles, which makes launches faster and is much easier than sending them one by one.[2]

For maximum output, the quest says you need to send 8,333,333 beams and 49,999,998 sails into orbit. That's a lot, so it recommends getting robust resource generation in place before you start scaling up.[2]

Tip: Plan your automation and resource supply before you chase the full numbers. The quest itself warns that you'll need both to reach maximum power output.[2]

What changed in Dyson Cube Project between versions?

Dyson Cube Project has a short history in All the Mods 10 so far. These are the changes the pack changelogs record, from oldest to newest.[5][6][7]

  • All the Mods 10 4.13: Dyson Cube Project 1.0.0 was added to the pack.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 4.15: updated from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 7.0: updated from 1.0.2 to 1.0.5.[5]

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships version 1.0.5, using the file dysoncubeproject-1.0.5.jar. That is the same version 7.0 updated the mod to.[1][5]

Unverified The changelogs only list version numbers. The sources here do not show what gameplay, recipe or balance changes came with each Dyson Cube Project update, so none are described. They also do not list the step from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1.
