Create: Copycats+ is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 3.0.9+mc.1.21.1-neoforge. All the copycats you've ever wanted, combined into a single mod! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Create: Copycats+?

1 part

Create: Copycats+ (Create: Copycats+) gathers a huge range of copycat blocks into a single mod. The pack includes version 3.0.9 of it for NeoForge.[1][2]

What it adds

The project page lists copycat versions of the basics, such as blocks, slabs, stairs, fences and walls. You also get plenty of smaller and stranger shapes, so here are the highlights:[1]

  • Slices, vertical slices and corner slices, which can be resized to 8 different sizes.[1]
  • Copycat bytes, mini-blocks that you place and dismantle individually. 8 of them form a full block.[1]
  • Copycat boards, 1-pixel thick panels. You can put several in the same block space, like glow lichen.[1]
  • Copycat doors, trapdoors, fence gates, buttons, pressure plates and ladders.[1]
  • Create-flavoured pieces: copycat fluid pipes, shafts, cogwheels and large cogwheels.[1]

The page also describes a connected-texture system, where copycats connect their textures to each other as long as they have a matching block face. Shift-right-clicking a door with an empty hand toggles that connection. Note that this description comes from the project page, which highlights an older release than the one in the pack.[1][2]

Tip: Every copycat can be switched on or off with the mod's feature toggle, so you can trim the list down if it feels like too much.[1]

How do you get started with Create: Copycats+?

4 parts

Copycats are blocks you fill with a material of your choice, so you can build with any look you like instead of being stuck with a mod's own textures. This pack changes the recipes for the copycats, so follow the recipes below rather than anything you remember from elsewhere.[3][4]

Start with the Copycat Block

The Copycat Block is the simplest place to begin. In this pack you can make it at a stonecutter, and every other copycat shape has its own stonecutter recipe too, so you rarely need a crafting grid.[3]

Once it is placed, right-click it with a material to assign that material and to rotate it. A wrench removes the material again.[4]

Tip: Shift and right-click with an empty hand to toggle connected textures. Copycats connect their textures to each other when they have a matching block face.[1][4]

Make the Copycat Slab

Next, grab the Copycat Slab. It supports all orientations and double slab variants. It is also handy for crafting, because this pack lets you turn copycat slabs into a full block.[1][3]

Try layers, boards and conversions

A Copycat Layer can be placed in any orientation and stacks up to a full block. In this pack you can also craft it from half layers.[1][3]

For thin walls and floors, the Copycat Board is a 1-pixel thick panel, and you can place several in the same block space. The Copycat Box and Copycat Catwalk are pre-assembled boards, and this pack crafts both from boards.[1][3]

Rotated shapes can be swapped with simple crafting conversions. For example, a Copycat Slope converts into a Copycat Vertical Slope, and the reverse conversion exists too.[3]

Functional copycats

Doors, buttons, pressure plates, ladders and the like are used the same way as their non-copycat counterparts, just with your chosen material on them. The mechanical ones, like the Copycat Cogwheel, have their own crafting recipes in this pack.[1][3][4]

Once you are comfortable with these, browse the rest of the shapes. Each one has its own stonecutter recipe in the pack, so you can pick whichever suits your build.[3]

How does Create: Copycats+ work?

6 parts

Copycats+ is about blocks you dress up in other blocks, so the core mechanics are about how you apply materials, resize shapes and swap variants. This section covers the rules the mod's own tooltips and descriptions spell out.[1][4]

Applying and removing materials

Right-click a copycat with a block to assign that material, and right-click again to rotate it. To take the material back off, use a wrench.[4]

If you want to fill every part of a multi-part copycat in one go, there is a key binding listed as "Fill Copycat with Material". The tooltip tells you to hold that key while applying the material.[4]

Connected textures

Shift-right-click a copycat with an empty hand to toggle connected textures. The mod's project page says all copycats connect their textures to each other as long as they have a matching block face. The doors can toggle connected textures separately for the upper and lower halves.[1][4]

Stacking, resizing and multi-part blocks

Stackable copycats grow when you right-click them with the same copycat. The Copycat Slice and Copycat Vertical Slice can be resized to 8 different sizes, and the Copycat Layer stacks up to full block size.[1][4]

Multi-state copycats let you put several copies, each with a different material, into the same block space. The small pieces work like this:[1][4]

The Copycat Box and Copycat Catwalk are pre-assembled boards. After placing one, you can disassemble its individual parts.[1][4]

What drops when you break them

The loot tables follow the multi-part design. A board drops one Copycat Board for every face that is filled, and a byte drops one Copycat Byte for every occupied corner. Doors such as the Copycat Folding Door only drop from their lower half, so you get one item per door.[5][6][7]

The Copycat Glass Fluid Pipe block drops the regular Copycat Fluid Pipe item.[8][9]

Ghost and functional copycats

Ghost copycats have no collision with entities. Functional copycats, such as doors, trapdoors, buttons, pressure plates, the ladder and the Create-style parts, are described as having the same usage as their non-copycat counterparts.[1][4]

The Create-style copycats are the Copycat Fluid Pipe, Copycat Shaft, Copycat Cogwheel and Copycat Large Cogwheel. The sources don't give any further details on how they handle fluids or rotation, so check them in game.[1][4]

The pack changes the recipes for these Create-style copycats, so use the in-pack recipes below rather than the mod's defaults.[3]

Switching between variants

The pack has one-step conversion recipes between rotated variants, and the examples below show the exact in-pack recipes. They cover these pairs: Copycat Slice and Copycat Vertical Slice, Copycat Slope and Copycat Vertical Slope, Copycat Stairs and Copycat Vertical Stairs, Copycat Sliding Door and Copycat Folding Door, and Copycat Pane and Copycat Flat Pane.[3]

How do you progress through Create: Copycats+?

4 parts

Good news: Copycats+ is simple to get into. In this pack every recipe for the mod has been changed, and the whole thing runs on zinc. Think of it as a handful of routes rather than a long tech tree.[3]

Starting out: zinc and a stonecutter

The basic route is the stonecutter. Put in any zinc ingot and you can pick the copycat shape you want. That covers the basics like Copycat Slab, Copycat Block, Copycat Stairs and Copycat Wall. It also covers the odd ones like Copycat Ghost Block, Copycat Ladder, Copycat Shaft and the button and pressure plate variants.[3]

2× Copycat SlabChanged by the pack

In this pack the stonecutting recipes for the mod all follow this same zinc pattern.

Tip: If you remember nothing else: get zinc ingots flowing and nearly every copycat shape is a stonecutter click away.[3]

Create parts plus zinc

The mechanical copycats are crafted rather than stonecut, and each one is tied to a matching Create part: Copycat Cogwheel goes with Cogwheel, Copycat Large Cogwheel with Large Cogwheel, and Copycat Fluid Pipe with Fluid Pipe. Copycat Iron Door follows the same idea with a vanilla iron door. The recipe blocks show each one exactly as the pack has it.[3]

Converting between shapes

If you already have a piece, you can often swap it for a related shape. Several of these go both ways: Copycat Pane and Copycat Flat Pane, Copycat Slice and Copycat Vertical Slice, Copycat Slope and Copycat Vertical Slope, and Copycat Stairs and Copycat Vertical Stairs. The doors do too, with Copycat Sliding Door and Copycat Folding Door.[3]

Copycat Flat PaneChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

One example of a conversion recipe, changed by the pack.

The half layers form a loop. Copycat Half Layer converts to Copycat Vertical Half Layer, which converts to Copycat Stacked Half Layer, which converts back to the half layer.[3]

Create's own copycats feed in as well. Copycat Panel converts into a Copycat Trapdoor, and Copycat Step converts into a Copycat Vertical Step.[3]

Building up to bigger pieces

Bigger pieces have their own crafting routes. Copycat Slab has several, Copycat Block and Copycat Layer are built up from smaller pieces, and Copycat Box and Copycat Catwalk both start from copycat boards. The recipe blocks here show them as the pack has them.[3]

How does Create: Copycats+ work with other mods?

2 parts

Create: Copycats+ is built to work alongside Create, and every in-pack recipe that links it to another mod runs through Create items. The pack has changed all of these recipes, so use the versions below rather than the mod's defaults. No quests in this pack involve the mod.[3]

Copycat versions of Create machinery

The pack lets you craft copycat twins of Create machinery: Copycat Cogwheel is the twin of Cogwheel, Copycat Large Cogwheel is the twin of Large Cogwheel, and Copycat Fluid Pipe is the twin of Fluid Pipe. Each of these recipes is shapeless, so the layout in the crafting grid doesn't matter.[3]

The mod's feature list also includes a Copycat Shaft, which fits the same kinetic theme. I didn't find an in-pack recipe for it in the sources, so check it in-game.[1]

Converting between Create copycats and Copycats+ shapes

Create already ships its own Copycat Panel and Copycat Step. The pack adds recipes that move between those and the shapes Copycats+ adds, so you don't have to craft from scratch each time.[3]

You can turn a Create Copycat Panel into a Copycat Trapdoor, and turn the trapdoor back into a panel:[3]

Tip: If you already have a stack of Create copycats, check these conversion recipes before crafting new ones. They let you reshape what you have into the Copycats+ pieces.[3]

What changed in Create: Copycats+ between versions?

Create: Copycats+ arrived in the pack with All the Mods 10 8.2, where the pack changelog lists it as added at version 3.0.9 for NeoForge. That is the version you have in this pack.[2][10]

The mod's own changelog for 3.0.9 doesn't list individual changes. It only points to a longer changelog kept in the mod's GitHub repository, so check there if you want the details of what changed in that build.[11]
