What is Ars Creo?

2 parts

Ars Creo is an addon that links Ars Nouveau and Create. It requires Ars Nouveau, Create and their dependencies. If you like building Create contraptions and want Ars Nouveau spellcasting on them, this is the mod that makes it work.[1]

What it adds

  • Starbuncle Wheel: generates SU from pure starbuncle energy.[1]
  • Spell Turrets that can be used on Create Contraptions, so your moving builds can cast spells.[1]
  • Timer Turrets: fire on an interval on a contraption.[1]
  • Basic Spell Turret: fires when interacted with on a contraption.[1]
  • Enhanced Spell Turret: fires per new block position.[1]
  • Source Jars: can be part of a contraption and used by other turrets.[1]

The mod's page says more content is planned, including integrations with Ars Nouveau summons and support for additional Ars Nouveau blocks on contraptions. Those plans are not shown as part of this pack's version, so don't count on them.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Ars Creo 5.4.0 (ars_creo-1.21.1-5.4.0.jar). It was first included in version 4.0 or earlier.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show a quest chapter, a quest group, or a place on the ATM Star path for Ars Creo, so where the pack's quest book puts this mod, and what comes before or after it, is unverified.

How do you get started with Ars Creo?

2 parts

Ars Creo is an addon for Ars Nouveau and Create, and it requires both of them plus their dependencies. The project page says more content is planned, but this section only covers what the mod currently adds.[1]

The Starbuncle Wheel

Start with the Starbuncle Wheel. Of the things Ars Creo currently adds, it is the block that generates SU from pure starbuncle energy.[1]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: ars_creo:starbuncle_wheel

This is a shapeless recipe, so the layout in the crafting grid doesn't matter.

The recipe combines an item from Ars Nouveau with an item from Create. That means you need some progress in both mods before you can make your first wheel.[3]

Turrets on contraptions

Ars Creo also currently adds spell turrets that can be used on Create contraptions. Each kind fires in a different way:[1]

  • Basic Spell Turret: currently fires when it is interacted with on a contraption.[1]
  • Timer Turret: currently fires on an interval on a contraption.[1]
  • Enhanced Spell Turret: currently fires per new block position.[1]

Source Jars can currently be part of a contraption, and they can be used by other turrets.[1]

How does Ars Creo work?

4 parts

Ars Creo is a small bridge between Ars Nouveau and Create. It adds a block that generates SU from Starbuncles, and it lets Ars Nouveau spell turrets work on Create contraptions. The mod requires both Ars Nouveau and Create, plus their dependencies.[1]

Power: the Starbuncle Wheel

The Starbuncle Wheel is the mod's power source. The mod page describes it as generating SU from "pure starbuncle energy".[1]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: ars_creo:starbuncle_wheel

In this pack it is a shapeless crafting recipe.

Spell turrets on contraptions

Spell turrets can be used on Create contraptions. The mod page lists these turret behaviors, and each one decides when the spell fires:[1]

  • Basic Spell Turret: fires when it is interacted with on a contraption.[1]
  • Timer Turret: fires on an interval on a contraption.[1]
  • Enhanced Spell Turret: fires per new block position.[1]

Source on the move

Source Jars can be part of a contraption and can be used by other turrets. That means a moving build can carry its own Source supply for its spells.[1]

Still to come

The mod page says more content is planned, including integrations with Ars Nouveau summons and additional Ars Nouveau block support on contraptions. These are plans only, so don't build around them until you see them in this pack.[1]

How do you progress through Ars Creo?

Ars Creo is a small bridge mod, and in this pack the sources show no tier ladder for it. The only recipe in the pack data that produces one of its items is the Starbuncle Wheel, so that is the one step you need to know about.[3]

The Starbuncle Wheel is a shapeless crafting recipe, so the ingredients can go in any slot of the grid. It is built from items that come from other mods, so you need to have progressed in those mods before you can make it.[3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: ars_creo:starbuncle_wheel

Shapeless crafting, so placement in the grid doesn't matter.

Unverified The sources here do not show any quests in the pack's quest book that involve Ars Creo, so there is no quest-guided path to describe for it.

How does Ars Creo work with other mods?

2 parts

Ars Creo is an addon for Ars Nouveau and Create, and it requires both of them plus their dependencies. Everything it adds is about getting those mods to work together.[1]

Starbuncle Wheel

The clearest link in the pack is the Starbuncle Wheel. The mod's page describes it as a block that generates SU from pure starbuncle energy. Its in-pack recipe is shapeless and combines an item from Ars Nouveau with an item from Create.[1][3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: ars_creo:starbuncle_wheel

This is a shapeless recipe, so the arrangement in the crafting grid does not matter.

The Ars Nouveau input is the Starbuncle Charm. The Create input is the Water Wheel.[3]

Spell turrets on Create contraptions

The mod's page lists spell turrets that can be used on Create contraptions. It names these kinds, each with its own trigger:[1]

  • Timer Turret: fires on an interval on a contraption.[1]
  • Basic Spell Turret: fires when interacted with on a contraption.[1]
  • Enhanced Spell Turret: fires per new block position.[1]

The page also lists Source Jars as able to be part of a contraption and used by other turrets.[1]

What changed in Ars Creo between versions?

Here's how Ars Creo has moved through the pack's releases. The sources only cover version bumps, so there's nothing here about what each update actually changed.[4][5][6]

  • All the Mods 10 4.0: Ars Creo 5.1.0 was added to the pack.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 5.5: updated from 5.1.0 to 5.2.0.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 7.1: updated from 5.2.0 to 5.4.0.[4]

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Ars Creo 5.4.0 (the file is ars_creo-1.21.1-5.4.0.jar), so it is still on the version that arrived in 7.1.[2][4]

Unverified The mod's own changelogs for these versions aren't available to the sources here, so what changed in gameplay, recipes or configs between 5.1.0, 5.2.0 and 5.4.0 is unverified.
