What is Pickle Tweaks?
3 parts
Pickle Tweaks is a Vanilla+ mod. It doesn't add a whole new tech tree. It adds a bunch of small quality-of-life features and extra tools that make the early and mid game smoother.[1]
The pack includes Pickle Tweaks 9.0.5.[2]
What it adds
- Tool help: repair broken tools and weapons in a crafting grid using their repair materials, plus tooltips showing mining speed and mining level.[1]
- Extra tools: paxels (an Axe, Pickaxe and Shovel in one), Flint and Emerald tools, sickles for mining plant blocks in an area, and scythes for harvesting and replanting crops in an area.[1]
- Farming: right-click a fully grown crop to harvest and replant it, or use a watering can to speed up crop growth. The basic can covers 3x3 and the Reinforced can covers 7x7.[1]
- Gear and food: Night Vision Goggles, an Item Magnet that pulls in items and experience orbs, and Diamond and Emerald Apples with extra buffs.[1]
- Small helpers: Coal and Charcoal Pieces that each cook 1 item, and Meshes for turning Gravel into Flint.[1]
Who it's for
It's for anyone who wants less busywork. Every feature can be disabled individually in the config file, so a pack maker or server owner can switch off whatever they don't want.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
You meet the mod right at the start. In Chapter 1, after the Gravel quest, "Shears, now on Tiktok Shop!" quest asks you for Flint Shears. The quest text calls them shears with no iron required, and you use them to collect leaves from your trees.[3]
Unverified The sources don't say whether the pack changes any Pickle Tweaks config values or disables any of its features, so check the config in your own instance.
How do you get started with Pickle Tweaks?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 guide
Pickle Tweaks adds a pile of Vanilla+ tools and gadgets. In this pack the recipes for its items are all marked as changed by the pack, so trust the recipe blocks below rather than what you remember from the mod's defaults. Here is the order I'd start in.[1][4]
Flint Shears first
Your first Pickle Tweaks item is the Flint Shears. The quest "Shears, now on Tiktok Shop!" quest in the starting out chapter has you get them, so it's a natural early goal. The pack changed this recipe.[4][5]

Grass Fiber and meshes
Next, make Grass Fiber from grass, then turn it into a Grass Fiber Mesh. The mod describes meshes as the way to craft Flint from Gravel.[1][4]

There is also a plain Mesh and a stronger Reinforced Mesh. Both have in-pack recipes.[4]
Flint tools
Once you have Flint, the mod's flint tools make a good early set. They include the Flint Pickaxe, Flint Axe, Flint Shovel and Flint Sword. Armor like the Flint Helmet is available too.[1][4]

Sickles mine plant material blocks over an area, while scythes harvest and replant crops over an area. You can start with the Wooden Sickle or the Wooden Scythe.[1][4]

How does Pickle Tweaks work?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Pickle Tweaks isn't a machine mod. It describes itself as a collection of Vanilla+ style features and tweaks. The sources for this pack don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or pipe-style automation for it, so I won't invent any. What follows is how its item-based systems work.[1]
Crafting grid repair and tool breaking
You can repair broken tools and weapons right in a crafting grid using their repair materials, much like an anvil. A separate tweak makes tools and weapons ineffective 1 use before they break, so you get a chance to repair them first.[1]
Area tools and crop handling
Right-clicking a fully grown crop harvests and replants it. Sickles mine plant material blocks in an area. Scythes harvest and replant crops in an area and also work as an area weapon.[1]
The pack has recipes for scythes and sickles in several materials, for example Flint Scythe, Golden Scythe, Diamond Scythe and Emerald Scythe, plus matching sickles such as Flint Sickle and Emerald Sickle. The recipe dump marks these recipes as changed by the pack.[6]
Watering cans
Watering cans increase crop growth speed in an area. The basic version covers a 3x3 area and the Reinforced version covers 7x7.[1]
Coal and charcoal pieces
Coal and Charcoal Pieces each cook 1 item. In this pack you make them by crafting Coal Piece from anything in the coal tag and Charcoal Piece from charcoal. Both recipes are marked as changed by the pack.[1][6]
Other systems
- Tool information tooltips add mining speed and mining level to tools, and show how much valid ammo you carry on bow tooltips.[1]
- If Jade or HWYLA is installed, the mod adds the harvest level of a block to its tooltip.[1]
- Night Vision Goggles grant night vision while worn, in basic and Reinforced variants.[1][7]
- The Item Magnet attracts items and experience orbs to you.[1]
- Meshes are used to craft Flint from Gravel.[1]
- Diamond and Emerald Apples give additional buffs. In this pack, Diamond Apple and Emerald Apple are crafted from an apple plus the matching gem.[1][6]
The Tool Uselessifier
The config lets you list tools that can't break blocks, deal damage and so on. Affected items show tooltips such as "This tool cannot mine anything. It can only be used for crafting." Similar tooltips exist for hoes, bows and weapons.[1][7]
Unverified The mod page says every feature can be disabled individually in its config file, but no config file for this mod was available for the pack. It is unverified which features are on or off here, and which tools, if any, are marked useless.
How do you progress through Pickle Tweaks?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 guide
Pickle Tweaks adds extra tool and armor tiers plus a handful of utility items. In this pack, the sources show exactly one quest that touches the mod, and every recipe listed for it is flagged as changed by the pack. So the tier path below follows the in-pack recipes, with that one quest as the starting marker.[4][5]
Start here: flint
The only quest tied to this mod is in the Starting Out chapter. Quest "Shears, now on Tiktok Shop!" quest asks you to get Flint Shears. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[5]

This is the in-pack recipe for the quest item, and the pack changed it.
Flint is the entry tier for the mod's gear. Besides the shears, there is a Flint Pickaxe, Flint Axe, Flint Shovel, Flint Hoe and Flint Sword. There is also a full armor set: Flint Helmet, Flint Chestplate, Flint Leggings and Flint Boots. Each one has its own pack recipe.[4]
Scythes and sickles
Scythes and sickles come in a long ladder: wooden, flint, stone, iron, golden, diamond, emerald and netherite. For example, you have Wooden Sickle, Stone Scythe, Iron Sickle, Golden Scythe and Diamond Sickle. Flint and emerald versions also exist: Flint Scythe, Flint Sickle, Emerald Scythe and Emerald Sickle.[4]
The last step is different. Netherite Scythe and Netherite Sickle are made at a smithing table, not a crafting grid, so you upgrade a diamond scythe or sickle instead of crafting from scratch.[4]

The pack changed this smithing recipe, and the sickle follows the same pattern.
Emerald tier
Emerald has a full tool set: Emerald Pickaxe, Emerald Axe, Emerald Shovel, Emerald Hoe and Emerald Sword. It also has armor: Emerald Helmet, Emerald Chestplate, Emerald Leggings and Emerald Boots.[4]

The mod also has food items with their own pack recipes: Emerald Apple and Diamond Apple.[4]
Utility upgrades
A few utility items come in a basic and a reinforced form, each with its own recipe: Mesh and Reinforced Mesh, Watering Can and Reinforced Watering Can, and Night Vision Goggles and Reinforced Night Vision Goggles. There is also a Magnet, plus Grass Fiber and Grass Fiber Mesh.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Pickle Tweaks?
1 part
Pickle Tweaks only shows up in one quest in this pack, and it's right at the start in Chapter 1: Starting out. So you'll meet it early, before you've got any iron.[3]
Chapter 1: Starting out
The quest is "Shears, now on Tiktok Shop!" quest. Its task is to obtain Flint Shears. The quest text describes them as shears that need no iron, and suggests using them to collect leaves from your trees.[3]
In the quest order, it comes after the Gravel quest, so finish that one first and this quest follows.[3]
Unverified The crafting recipe for the Flint Shears in this pack isn't shown in the quest data I have, so check the in-game recipe viewer for how to make them. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
What changed in Pickle Tweaks between versions?
Pickle Tweaks has been in the pack since All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0 or earlier, and version 1.1.2 ships with Pickle Tweaks 9.0.5 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]
The one change I can confirm from the mod's own changelog is in 9.0.5: Smooth Glowstone now drops Glowstone Dust when you break it without Silk Touch. Before that fix it wasn't dropping anything, so if you broke some without Silk Touch on an older version, that was a bug and not intended.[8]
I don't have changelog entries for other Pickle Tweaks versions, so I can't tell you what changed between earlier releases.[2][8]
