What is Luminax?

2 parts

Luminax is a small, simple mod that adds single-colored glowing blocks. The shapes it includes are a full block, slab, stair, wall, pressure plate and button. It's similar to AntiblocksReChiseled, but it isn't a fork or copy. It was made to replace Antiblocks in All the Mods 10, though it can be used in any pack.[1]

This pack includes Luminax 1.3.1, and the mod has been here since version 1.0 or earlier.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

Luminax has its own quest, "Luminax" quest, in the "Building Tips" chapter, which has 67 quests in total.[3]

The path to it goes like this: "Building Tips!" quest leads to "Blocks!" quest, which leads to "Colored Blocks" quest, and Luminax comes straight after that one.[3]

The quest describes Luminax as a very simple mod. You get colored lights, each in one color with no texturing, in shapes like stairs, slabs or even pressure plates. It also says they work with Dyenamics.[3]

What comes after, and the ATM Star path

Among the quests whose text is shown in the sources, none is set to come after Luminax. The text of 34 of the chapter's 67 quests is not included here, so check the quest book itself for any follow-ups.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show the ATM Star quest path, so this guide does not place Luminax on it. Check the quest book to see how the path is laid out.

How do you get started with Luminax?

4 parts

Luminax is a simple mod: single-colored glowing blocks with no texturing. It was made as a replacement for Antiblocks. The quest book covers it in the "Building Tips" chapter, in "Luminax" quest, which comes after "Colored Blocks" quest.[1][3]

The Colored Blocks quest tells you to start with the dyes, so grab those first. Black is the example colour below, and the recipe dump shows the same pattern for blue, brown and cyan.[3][4]

Step one: make your first coloured block

Start with the base block, Black Luminax Block. Everything else in the mod is built from it.[4]

This recipe makes 4 blocks per craft.

Step two: try the dim version

Each colour also has a Dim version with its own recipe, like Dim Black Luminax Block. It also makes 4 blocks per craft.[4]

Step three: recolor what you already have

You don't need to craft every colour from scratch. A tint recipe combines a dye with Luminax blocks you already have and makes 8 blocks per craft. Dim blocks have their own tint recipe, which accepts any dim block.[4]

Step four: shape it

Once you have a base block, you can make the other shapes the mod offers: Black Luminax Slab, Black Luminax Stairs and Black Luminax Wall. The exact in-pack recipes are shown below.[1][4]

For redstone builds there are also Black Luminax Button and Black Luminax Pressure Plate, both made from the base block.[1][4]

Tip: The quest book says Luminax blocks work with Dyenamics, so check that mod's dyes if you want more colours.[3]

How does Luminax work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Here's the honest answer for this one: the mod's project page lists only blocks, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation to learn. Luminax describes itself as a bunch of simple glowing blocks, so the "mechanics" are really just what you can craft.[1]

What the mod adds

The mod adds a handful of single-colored blocks. These are the block types the project page lists as currently included:[1]

The pack's recipe list shows these shapes for several colors, for example black, blue, brown and cyan. There are also "Dim" versions such as Dim Black Luminax Block and Dim Blue Luminax Block. The recipe list I have is truncated, so I can't confirm the full list of colors.[5]

How crafting works

Everything starts with the full block of a color. Here is the in-pack recipe for Black Luminax Block. The other bright colors in the recipe list follow the same pattern with their matching dye.[5]

Crafting Shaped

The Dim blocks use a different ingredient mix from the bright ones. Here is Dim Black Luminax Block as an example.[5]

Every other shape is made from the matching full block of the same color. The slab, stairs, wall and pressure plate use shaped recipes, and the button is a shapeless recipe. Here are the black slab and button as examples.[5]

Tip: Luminax was made to serve as a replacement for Antiblocks in All the Mods 10. It is similar to AntiblocksReChiseled, but it is not a fork or copy: the project page says it is 100% original code.[1]

How do you progress through Luminax?

4 parts

Luminax is a simple mod in this pack. The quest book describes it as coloured lights with no texturing, available in shapes like stairs, slabs and even pressure plates, and they work with Dyenamics. This section follows the order you would naturally craft things in.[3]

Where it sits in the quest book

Luminax is the quest "Luminax" quest in the Building Tips chapter. It comes right after "Colored Blocks" quest, which itself follows the Blocks! quest. Other quests that follow Colored Blocks include Chipped Concrete, XyCraft World, Plastic Construction Bricks, Railcraft Colored Blocks, Chipped Wool and Chipped Terracotta.[3]

Step 1: make the base blocks

Every colour starts as a full block, and one craft gives you 4 of them. There are two families: the regular Luminax blocks and the Dim ones. Here is the regular black block, and the Dim version of the same colour.[4]

Dim family, also makes 4 blocks per craft.

The recipe dump counts 32 base-block recipes across the two families, one per colour in each. Black is the example here, but other colours follow the same pattern, for instance Blue Luminax Block and Dim Blue Luminax Block.[4]

Step 2: recolour what you already have

You don't have to start from scratch to change a colour. A tint recipe takes a dye plus an existing Luminax block and gives you 8 blocks in the dye's colour. The regular and Dim sets each have their own tint recipes, so a tint stays within its family.[4]

Makes 8 blocks per craft.

Step 3: shapes

Once you have a full block, you can turn it into other shapes. Using black as the example, a slab craft gives 6, stairs give 4 and a wall gives 6. The button and pressure plate are crafted from the block as well.[4]

Recipe id: luminax:black_luminax_pressure_plate

The Dim family has shape recipes too. For example, Dim Black Luminax Slab, Dim Black Luminax Button and Dim Black Luminax Pressure Plate are all crafted from Dim Black Luminax Block.[4]

Tip: Shapes are crafted from a Luminax block of the same colour, so make a stack of full blocks first and then branch out into stairs, slabs, walls, buttons and plates.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Luminax?

3 parts

Luminax has one quest in the pack, and it sits in the "Building Tips" chapter, which has 67 quests in total. The quest is "Luminax" quest, and it is an item quest.[3]

How you get there

The chapter is a branching tree, and Luminax is on the colour branch. Here is the path from the start of the chapter:[3]

  1. "Building Tips!" quest is the chapter's opening quest.[3]
  2. "Blocks!" quest comes after it and asks you to get any block.[3]
  3. "Colored Blocks" quest comes after Blocks! and tells you to start with the dyes.[3]
  4. "Luminax" quest comes after Colored Blocks.[3]

What the Luminax quest says

The quest book describes Luminax as a very simple mod for coloured lights. Each light is a single colour with no texturing. They come in different shapes such as stairs, slabs and even pressure plates, and the quest says they work with Dyenamics.[3]

Neighbouring quests

Luminax shares its parent with several other colour quests that also come after Colored Blocks: "Chipped Concrete" quest, "XyCraft World" quest, "Plastic Construction Bricks" quest, "Railcraft Colored Blocks" quest, "Chipped Wool" quest and "Chipped Terracotta" quest. You can do these in any order, because they all unlock from the same quest.[3]

If you want other light sources, the chapter's lighting quests branch off a different quest, a quest in "Building Tips", which comes after "Decoration!" quest. Luminax is not part of that group.[3]
