What is Hostile Neural Networks?
1 part
Hostile Neural Networks lets you simulate mobs to get their drops without hunting them over and over. It's based on Deep Mob Learning, and it's a great fit if you'd rather automate loot than farm it.[1]
The core item is the Data Model, which holds information about one mob. You start with a Model Framework and right click the mob you want to build the model for. Then you train the model by placing it in a Deep Learner and killing that mob. Every model starts out Faulty and has to reach Basic before it can be simulated.[1][2]
Once a model is Basic or higher, the Simulation Chamber runs simulations on it. They need power and a Prediction Matrix. Every simulation gives a generalized prediction, and a successful one also gives a Mob Prediction. Higher model tiers succeed more often, up to 99.5% at Self Aware. Finally, the Loot Fabricator turns Mob Predictions into drops, and it remembers the target you pick for each model type.[1][2]
Where it fits in this pack
The pack includes Hostile Neural Networks 6.3.0, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier.[3]
The pack has its own questline for the mod. You begin with "Learning Mobs" quest (the Deep Learner) and "Modeling Mobs" quest (the Model Framework). Next comes "Simulating Deaths" quest, which covers the Simulation Chamber and Prediction Matrix. After that, "Creating Loot" quest introduces the Loot Fabricator. Its examples are Ender Dragons for Dragon Eggs, Zombies for Iron and Withers for Nether Stars.[2]
Simulating also gets you the generalized predictions: Generalized Overworld Prediction, Generalized Nether Prediction and Generalized Ender Prediction. The pack's quests describe them as making various Overworld, Nether and End materials, and each has its own quest after Simulating Deaths.[2]
The mod also touches the ATM Star path. Chapter 4: The ATM Star has a quest, a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star", that asks you to hand in a Prediction and unlocks after Simulating Deaths. So you'll want a working simulation setup before you push on toward the Star.[4]
Unverified The sources don't say which specific Mob Prediction the ATM Star quest expects, so check the quest in-game before you plan your models.
How do you get started with Hostile Neural Networks?
6 parts
Hostile Neural Networks lets you turn mob kills into simulated drops. The chain is: make a Data Model of a mob, train it by killing that mob, simulate it in a machine, then turn the result into loot. Here are the first things to make, in order.[1][2]
Step one: make a Deep Learner
Start with the Deep Learner. Right-click it to open a HUD where you store Data Models. Each Learner holds 4 models, and it collects kill data as long as it is anywhere in your inventory. If you carry several Learners, kills count for every model inside all of them. This is the "Learning Mobs" quest quest.[2]

Step two: make a Model Framework and bind it to a mob
Next, craft a Model Framework. Right-click the mob you want to study and the framework turns into that mob's Data Model. Then put the new model in your Deep Learner. This is the "Modeling Mobs" quest quest. Both this quest and the Learner quest come right after the chapter's welcome quest.[2]

Step three: train the model to Basic
A new model starts at the Faulty tier, and you need to level it to at least Basic before you can simulate it. Keep killing that specific mob with the Learner in your inventory. The HUD and the model's tooltip both show how many kills the next level needs. The "Leveling Up Data Models" quest quest covers this.[1][2]
Step four: build the Simulation Chamber and a Prediction Matrix
The Simulation Chamber is the main machine of the mod. It needs power, and the amount depends on the model inside. You can read it in the model's tooltip. It also needs at least one Prediction Matrix, and the simulation result is written onto the Matrix. This is the "Simulating Deaths" quest quest, which unlocks after the Learner and Framework quests.[2]

Every simulation produces some kind of Generalized Prediction, which depends on where the mob comes from. If the simulation succeeds, you also get a Mob Prediction for that model. The higher the model's tier, the higher the success rate.[2]
Step five: build the Loot Fabricator
The Loot Fabricator turns a Mob Prediction into actual drops. Give it power and a successful prediction, then pick which item you want from that mob's model. It remembers your choice, so you can automate it. The "Creating Loot" quest quest lists examples: Ender Dragons for Dragon Eggs, Zombies for Iron and Withers for Nether Stars.[2]

What to do with Generalized Predictions
Generalized Predictions are used in various crafting recipes. The quests describe the Generalized Overworld Prediction, Generalized Nether Prediction and Generalized Ender Prediction as making various Overworld, Nether and End materials. The pack's two conversion recipes between them are shown below.[2][5]

How does Hostile Neural Networks work?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Hostile Neural Networks lets you farm mob drops without farming mobs. You train data models, run simulations with them to produce mob predictions, and then turn those predictions into real loot. Every step of that chain has its own item or machine, so let's walk through it in order.[1]
Data Models: the core of the mod
Everything revolves around the Data Model, an item that holds information about one entity and lets you generate that entity's drops. To get one, you first craft a Model Framework and then use it on the mob you want to build a model of.[1]

The mod's tooltip text includes a line telling you to click on an entity to attune a model, plus a message saying that model attunement is disabled, so watch the tooltip when you try this.[7]
Which mobs have models is data-driven. Custom Data Models can be added through a datapack, with each model defined as a single file in a data_models subfolder.[1]
Training with the Deep Learner
A fresh model starts in the Faulty state and can't be simulated yet. To level it up, put it in a Deep Learner. The Deep Learner holds a few data models at once, and the kills you get start training them. You need to get each model up to Basic this way before the next machine will accept it.[1]

Running simulations in the Simulation Chamber
Once a model is Basic or higher, you can load it into a Simulation Chamber to run simulations. The Simulation Chamber is the second way to train a model, so your models keep improving while they work.[1]

Each simulation needs energy and a catalyst item. The energy cost depends on the model type. The catalyst is usually a Prediction Matrix, so you'll want a steady supply of those.[1]

Every simulation produces a generalized prediction. It may also produce a Mob Prediction, depending on the model's accuracy. Higher model tiers mean higher accuracy, up to 99.5% at the Self Aware tier. Leveling your models is what makes a setup truly efficient.[1]
Generalized predictions
The generalized predictions come in three kinds: Generalized Overworld Prediction, Generalized Nether Prediction and Generalized Ender Prediction. In this pack you can craft them up the chain, turning Overworld into Nether and Nether into Ender.[8]

Turning predictions into loot
Mob Predictions become real drops in the Loot Fabricator, a powered device. The possible outputs come from a pre-defined list of items for each model type, and you pick a target for each type. The fabricator remembers your choice per type, so you can feed several kinds of predictions into a single fabricator.[1]

What the tooltips tell you
The mod has several info lines that are useful for planning:[7]
- A prompt to hold a key for more info, so check the extended tooltip.[7]
- Generates Experience, followed by a value.[7]
- Loot Table Copies, followed by a value.[7]
- No Base Drop Produced.[7]
Unverified The sources don't give exact energy costs, how much power the Loot Fabricator uses, the kill or simulation counts needed for each tier, the names of the tiers between Basic and Self Aware, or which sides of the machines accept items and energy for automation. Check these in-game before you design an automated setup.
How do you progress through Hostile Neural Networks?
5 parts
Hostile Neural Networks has a clear order in this pack. You get tools to learn a mob, turn that learning into a Data Model, level the model up, run simulations, and finally turn the results into loot. The quest chapter follows exactly that order, so it's a good checklist.[2]
The quest path, step by step
- Start with "Learning Mobs" quest. You craft a Deep Learner, right click it to open its HUD, and store Data Models inside. Each Learner holds 4 Data Models.[2]
- Next is "Modeling Mobs" quest. Craft a Model Framework and right click the mob you want to study. The Model Framework turns into that mob's Data Model. Put it in a Deep Learner and kill that mob with the Learner in your inventory.[2]
- "Leveling Up Data Models" quest covers leveling. Data Models start at the first tier, Faulty, and you need to reach at least Basic before you can run simulations on one.[2]
- "Simulating Deaths" quest unlocks the Simulation Chamber and the Prediction Matrix. It requires both of the earlier quests, Learning Mobs and Modeling Mobs.[2]
- "Creating Loot" quest unlocks the Loot Fabricator, which turns a successful Mob Prediction into the loot you choose.[2]

Simulating and leveling tiers
The Simulation Chamber needs power, and the amount depends on the Data Model inside. You can read it in the model's tooltip. It also needs at least one Prediction Matrix, and the result of the simulation is written onto that Matrix.[2]
The higher the tier of the Data Model, the better the success rate. That makes leveling worth the grind. The Deep Learner HUD and the model's tooltip both show how many kills you still need for the next level.[2]
Predictions by dimension
Every simulation produces some kind of Generalized Prediction, and which one depends on the origin of the mob in the Data Model. The chapter has a quest for each: a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" for the Generalized Overworld Prediction, a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" for the Generalized Nether Prediction, and a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" for the Generalized Ender Prediction. They are described as making various Overworld, Nether and End materials. A successful simulation also gives you a Mob Prediction for the specific mob you modeled.[2]
The pack also has recipes that convert a Generalized Prediction into the next dimension's version, going from Overworld to Nether and then from Nether to End.[5]

Loot and the rest of the quests
In the Loot Fabricator you choose which item you want from a mob's Data Model, and the machine remembers your choice so you can automate it. Examples from the quest are Dragon Eggs from Ender Dragons, Iron from Zombies and Nether Stars from Withers.[2]
After Creating Loot, the chapter has a long run of untitled quests that each ask you to obtain a Mob Prediction (Prediction). One more Mob Prediction quest sits in the ATM Star chapter, and it comes after Simulating Deaths. So this machine line feeds into the pack's main progression, not just a side chapter.[2][4]
The pack also has a recipe for the Fabrication Directive.[5]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Hostile Neural Networks?
4 parts
This mod has its own quest chapter, called Hostile Neural Networks. It starts with a quest named Welcome to Hostile Neural Networks!, and everything else branches out from there. The chapter walks you through the machine chain in order, so you can follow it top to bottom.[2]
Getting started
- "Learning Mobs" quest asks you to get a Deep Learner. Right click it to open the HUD and store Data Models. Each Learner holds 4 Data Models and collects kills while it is anywhere in your inventory.[2]
- "Modeling Mobs" quest asks for a Model Framework. Right click a mob with it to turn it into that mob's Data Model, then put the Data Model in a Deep Learner and kill that mob.[2]
Both quests unlock straight after the welcome quest, so you can do them in either order.[2]
Simulating and leveling
"Simulating Deaths" quest unlocks once you have finished both quests above. It asks for the Simulation Chamber and a Prediction Matrix. The quest text says the chamber needs at least one Matrix to run a simulation, and that the result is written onto the Matrix.[2]
"Leveling Up Data Models" quest asks for a Data Model and follows the same two quests. Its text says Data Models start at the Faulty tier and need to reach at least Basic before you can simulate with them.[2]
After Simulating Deaths
Four quests open up once you have done "Simulating Deaths" quest. Three of them are untitled and each asks for one kind of Generalized Prediction:[2]
- a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" asks for the Generalized Overworld Prediction, described as making various Overworld materials.[2]
- a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" asks for the Generalized Nether Prediction, described as making various Nether materials.[2]
- a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" asks for the Generalized Ender Prediction, described as making various End materials.[2]
- "Creating Loot" quest asks for the Loot Fabricator. The quest text says you give it power and a successful Mob Prediction, then choose which item you want from that mob's Data Model. It remembers your choice, so you can automate it.[2]
Mob Prediction quests
Once you have done "Creating Loot" quest, a long run of untitled quests unlocks. Each one asks for an Prediction, which is the Mob Prediction item. The sources do not say which mob each quest wants, so check each quest in-game.[2]
One more Mob Prediction quest, a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star", sits in the Chapter 4: The ATM Star chapter instead. It also asks for an Prediction and unlocks after "Simulating Deaths" quest. That means this mod is part of the ATM Star progression.[4]
Unverified The sources do not list quest rewards, so what each quest gives you is unconfirmed here.
