What is Sophisticated Core?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
Sophisticated Core is included in this pack at version 1.0.5, shipped as the Minecraft 1.21.1 build sophisticatedcore-1.21.1-1.0.5.813.jar. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Sophisticated Core does in gameplay, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. They also don't show it on the ATM Star path or tied to any quests, so I'm not making claims about those. Check back once more detail is available.
How do you get started with Sophisticated Core?
3 parts
Sophisticated Core is the shared code behind the backpack and storage screens, so there is nothing for you to craft with it directly. The first steps here are about learning the screen controls that this mod provides.[2]
Tidy and move items
- Use the Sort Inventory button to tidy a storage. You can sort By Count, By Mod, By Name or By Tags.[2]
- Use Transfer to Inventory or Transfer to Storage to move items in bulk. The Matching versions only move items that match, and holding Shift transfers all of them.[2]
- The expanded output list button opens a list with a search box. If nothing matches, you will see the message "No items match the search".[2]
Set up the settings screen
The Player context holds player-level settings. They apply to all backpacks and storages unless a specific one overrides them.[2]
- Keep Search Phrase: when ON, the screen keeps your search phrase and filters by it the next time you open it. When OFF, it clears the phrase on close.[2]
- Keep Tab Open: when ON, the storage remembers which upgrade tab was last open and reopens it next time. When OFF, all tabs are closed when you next open the screen.[2]
- You can save settings to a slot and load them again later. Scroll to change the slot. Exporting settings creates a data pack with an snbt file.[2]
If an upgrade won't go in
The mod's error messages explain most refusals. Some upgrades need all upgrade slots to be empty. Others allow only a single copy, or need the last inventory slots to be free. A battery or tank upgrade can also be refused if the backpack's capacity is too low. In that case you upgrade the backpack or add a stack multiplier. Only admins can remove an Infinity Upgrade.[2]
The pack's own settings for this mod are in config/sophisticatedcore-common.toml.[3]
How does Sophisticated Core work?
5 parts
The sources for this mod cover the screens and settings that backpacks and storage share. They don't explain machines, multiblocks, power or fluid networks, so this section sticks to how the inventory screens, slot settings and upgrade slots behave.[2]
Moving and sorting items
Every backpack or storage screen has a Sort Inventory button. You can sort by count, by mod, by name or by tags.[2]
There are also transfer buttons: Transfer to Inventory and Transfer to Storage. The Matching versions only move stacks that match what is already on the other side, and holding Shift makes them transfer everything.[2]
The search box says "Click to search". Start your search with @ to search by mod name. If nothing matches, you see "No items match the search".[2]
Settings that change how a screen behaves
- Keep Search Phrase: when it is off, the screen clears your search when you close it and shows everything next time. When it is on, the screen prefills the phrase and filters by it when you reopen it.[2]
- Keep Tab Open: when it is on, the backpack or storage remembers which upgrade tab was open last and reopens it. When it is off, all tabs start closed.[2]
- Shift Click Into Open Tab First or Shift Click Into Inventory First: this decides where a shift-clicked stack goes first. Either it tries an open upgrade tab before the inventory or storage, or the other way round.[2]
- Player context: the Player level settings apply to all backpacks and storages unless one overrides them.[2]
Slot settings
- Memory: pick slots that remember their contents and only accept matching stacks. Left click or drag selects a slot, right click or drag unselects it, and there are Select All Slots and Unselect All Slots buttons.[2]
- No Sort: pick slots that sorting ignores. It uses the same selection controls as Memory.[2]
- Item Display: pick a slot whose item is shown on top of the storage. You can show it on the front, left or right side, rotate it (left click for clockwise, right click for counter-clockwise), and change its depth.[2]
You can save your settings to a slot and load them again later by scrolling to change the slot. If the saved settings are too big, you get the message "Settings don't fit in this storage". You can also export settings, which creates a data pack with an snbt file, so you need to enter a file name first.[2]
Upgrade slots and their limits
Upgrades have their own tab on the screen, and many have an Adv. version with its own settings panel. These include Adv. Alchemy, Adv. Compacting, Adv. Feeding, Adv. Filter, Adv. Magnet, Adv. Pickup and Adv. Pump, plus a Jukebox upgrade. Each upgrade also has an ON, OFF or INACTIVE state.[2]
When an upgrade won't go into a slot, the error text tells you why. These are the limits the strings mention:[2]
- Only one Battery Upgrade can be installed at a time.[2]
- Up to two Tank Upgrades can be installed at once.[2]
- Battery and tank upgrades can also be refused when the backpack's capacity is too low. The fix is to upgrade the backpack or add a stack multiplier.[2]
- Some upgrades need the last few inventory slots to be empty. Others only allow a limited number of copies, or need every upgrade slot to be empty.[2]
- Removing an upgrade can be blocked if a slot or upgrade needs a higher stack limit than the remaining multiplier gives. It can also be blocked until a banned item is taken out first.[2]
- Only admins can remove the Infinity Upgrade.[2]
What this pack changes
The pack sets common.enabledItems to control which items from the Sophisticated mods are enabled. The file's own comment says disabling an item disables its recipes.[3]
In this pack, Stack Upgrade Omega Tier and Stack Upgrade Omega Tier are set to false. Every other entry I can see, including Infinity Upgrade (Admin), Infinity Upgrade (Admin) and the stack upgrade tiers 1 to 4, is set to true.[3]
Which Sophisticated Core config options matter?
3 parts
For this mod, the one option you really need to know about is common.enabledItems. The file's own comment says it lets you disable or enable any items, and that disabling an item also disables its recipes.[3]
How the list is written
Each entry is an item id followed by a pipe and true or false, for example an item id then "|true". The list covers items from the Sophisticated Storage, Sophisticated Backpacks and Storage In Motion families, so it is a single switchboard for all of them: backpacks, upgrades, barrels, chests, shulker boxes, controllers and the storage minecart and boat.[3]
What this pack turns off
Almost everything in the list is set to true. The two entries set to false are the omega stack upgrades, one for each family:[3]
- Stack Upgrade Omega Tier is set to false.[3]
- Stack Upgrade Omega Tier is set to false.[3]
Because disabling an item also disables its recipes, you should not expect to craft either omega tier stack upgrade in this pack. The lower stack upgrade tiers and the stack downgrades are all enabled.[3]
Still enabled
The more powerful items are left on. For example, Infinity Upgrade (Admin), Survival Infinity Upgrade, Infinity Upgrade (Admin) and Survival Infinity Upgrade are all set to true.[3]
Unverified The source does not show the mod's default values for this option, so whether these two false entries differ from the mod default is unconfirmed.
