What is Polymorph?
3 parts
Polymorph fixes recipe conflicts. When several mods have recipes that use the same ingredients, you no longer need a datapack to remove one of them. Every possible result stays available, and you choose which one you get.[1]
This pack includes Polymorph 1.1.0 for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. It has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]
What it does
- Crafting: if your ingredients match more than one recipe, a button appears above the output slot. Press it to see every possible result and click the one you want. Polymorph remembers your pick while the ingredients stay the same, so you can craft the same thing repeatedly.[1]
- Smelting: if a valid input matches more than one output, the same kind of button appears. The result you have selected is highlighted in green. Your choice is saved on the block itself, so it persists when you unload and reload the world.[1]
- Smithing: this works like the crafting screen. A button appears above the output slot when a valid input matches more than one output.[1]
Finding conflicts
The command /polymorph conflicts tries to identify recipes that conflict with each other and writes the list to your logs folder. Currently, it scans crafting, smelting, blasting, smoking and smithing recipes.[1]
In the quest book
None of the quests I can see for this pack features Polymorph. It works in the background and does not give you an item to unlock. The "Just Dire Things" chapter is the only one I have quest text for, and its quest text does not mention this mod.[3]
How do you get started with Polymorph?
1 part
Polymorph isn't a mod you build up to. There's nothing to craft first. It works in the background and fixes recipe conflicts: when the same ingredients match more than one recipe, you get to pick which result you want.[1]
The first thing to learn is where the choice button shows up. In crafting, smelting and smithing, it appears above the output slot when a valid input matches more than one result.[1]
Your first steps
- Crafting: put ingredients in the grid. If they match more than one recipe, a button appears above the output slot. Press it to see every possible result, then click the one you want to change the output. Polymorph remembers your last pick as long as the ingredients don't change, so you can keep crafting the same result.[1]
- Smelting: when an input can produce more than one output, a button appears above the output slot. Press it and the list opens with your current choice highlighted in green. Click another result to switch. The choice is saved on the block itself, so it persists when you leave and reload the world.[1]
- Smithing: this works like the crafting screen. If a valid input matches more than one output, a button appears above the output slot, and picking an entry changes the result.[1]
Unverified No in-pack recipes or config options for this mod were found in the sources, so this guide doesn't list any items to craft or settings to change.
How does Polymorph work?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Polymorph doesn't add machines, multiblocks or power systems. It solves recipe conflicts. When the same ingredients match more than one recipe, you get to choose which result you want, so every recipe can exist side by side.[1]
Crafting
When the ingredients in a crafting grid match more than one recipe, a button appears above the output slot. Press it to see every possible result, then click the one you want and the crafting output changes to match.[1]
Polymorph remembers your last selection for as long as the ingredients don't change. That means you can repeat the same craft on the same selection without picking again.[1]
Smelting
Smelting works in a similar way. If a valid input has more than one possible output, a button appears above the output slot. It opens a list of all possible results, and the one currently selected is highlighted in green. Click a different result to change the smelting output.[1]
Your smelting choice is saved to the block itself, so it persists when the world is unloaded and loaded again.[1]
Smithing
The smithing screen behaves exactly like the crafting screen. When a valid input matches more than one output, a button shows up above the output slot, and picking a result changes the output to match.[1]
Finding conflicts
The command /polymorph conflicts tries to identify recipes that conflict with each other and writes the list to your logs folder. It scans crafting, smelting, blasting, smoking and smithing recipes.[1]
Unverified The sources don't say how Polymorph interacts with machines from other mods in this pack, such as automation setups or modded crafting blocks. They also don't confirm any pack-specific config or recipe changes for it.
How do you progress through Polymorph?
Polymorph has no tier ladder or quest chain of its own that I can confirm in this pack, so there is no progression path to lay out here.[3]
The name can trip you up, though. The quest book's Polymorphic Fluid Bucket, Polymorphic Fluid Bucket, belongs to Just Dire Things (namespace justdirethings), not to Polymorph. Its quest, a quest in "Just Dire Things", sits in the Just Dire Things chapter of the Tech group. The tiers that chapter covers are Just Dire Things goo tiers, not Polymorph ones.[3]
Unverified Any progression steps or tiers specific to Polymorph itself are not confirmed by the sources available for this pack.
Which All the Mons quests use Polymorph?
The quest data I have for this pack doesn't show any quest that asks for an item from this mod. The one chapter I can check is "Just Dire Things", and every item its quests ask for comes from Just Dire Things, not from this mod. So I can't point you to a quest chapter that covers it.[3]
One name to watch for: the quest a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Polymorphic Fluid Bucket. Despite the similar name, that is a Just Dire Things fluid. The quest text says it is the base of all fluids and fuels in that mod, and that you make it by dropping Polymorphic Catalyst into water. It isn't part of this mod.[3]
What changed in Polymorph between versions?
1 part
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Polymorph 1.1.0+1.21.1, using the NeoForge build of the mod. It has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]
Polymorph 1.1.0+1.21.1
This is the version you have in the pack, released on 2025.07.21. Its changelog lists a single change: block entity registration for recipe data was retooled to accommodate Fabric components.[2][4]
The changelog included with the mod is only a copy of the entry for the most recent version. The mod's older releases are not covered by the sources I have.[4]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Polymorph were available, so any change to the mod between All the Mons releases is unverified.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as polymorph, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
