What is Polymorph?

2 parts

Polymorph solves recipe conflicts. When several mods add recipes that use the same ingredients, you don't need a datapack to remove one of them. Every possible result stays available and you pick the one you want.[1]

This pack includes Polymorph 0.49.10+1.20.1, and it has been in the pack since Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[2]

Where you will see it

  • Crafting: if your ingredients match more than one recipe, a button appears above the output slot. Press it to see every possible result and click the one you want. Polymorph remembers your last choice as long as the ingredients don't change, so you can keep crafting the same result.[1]
  • Smelting: if an input has more than one possible output, the same kind of button appears. The currently selected result is highlighted in green. Your choice is saved to the block itself and persists when you unload and reload the world.[1]
  • Smithing: this works just like the crafting screen. A button appears above the output slot when the input matches more than one output, and selecting a result changes the output.[1]

Finding conflicts

The command /polymorph conflicts tries to identify recipes that conflict with each other and writes the list to your logs folder. It scans crafting, smelting, blasting, smoking and smithing recipes.[1]

Tip: If a crafting, smelting or smithing result isn't what you expected, look for the button above the output slot. Another valid result may be waiting in the list.[1]

How do you get started with Polymorph?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Polymorph isn't a mod you build up to. There's nothing to craft first. It works in the background and fixes recipe conflicts: when the same ingredients match more than one recipe, you get to pick which result you want.[1]

The first thing to learn is where the choice button shows up. In crafting, smelting and smithing, it appears above the output slot when a valid input matches more than one result.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Crafting: put ingredients in the grid. If they match more than one recipe, a button appears above the output slot. Press it to see every possible result, then click the one you want to change the output. Polymorph remembers your last pick as long as the ingredients don't change, so you can keep crafting the same result.[1]
  2. Smelting: when an input can produce more than one output, a button appears above the output slot. Press it and the list opens with your current choice highlighted in green. Click another result to switch. The choice is saved on the block itself, so it persists when you leave and reload the world.[1]
  3. Smithing: this works like the crafting screen. If a valid input matches more than one output, a button appears above the output slot, and picking an entry changes the result.[1]
Tip: If you're not sure which recipes clash, run the command /polymorph conflicts. It tries to identify recipes that conflict with each other and writes the list to your logs folder. It scans crafting, smelting, blasting, smoking and smithing recipes.[1]

Unverified No in-pack recipes or config options for this mod were found in the sources, so this guide doesn't list any items to craft or settings to change.

How does Polymorph work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Polymorph doesn't add machines, multiblocks or power systems. It solves recipe conflicts. When the same ingredients match more than one recipe, you get to choose which result you want, so every recipe can exist side by side.[1]

Crafting

When the ingredients in a crafting grid match more than one recipe, a button appears above the output slot. Press it to see every possible result, then click the one you want and the crafting output changes to match.[1]

Polymorph remembers your last selection for as long as the ingredients don't change. That means you can repeat the same craft on the same selection without picking again.[1]

Smelting

Smelting works in a similar way. If a valid input has more than one possible output, a button appears above the output slot. It opens a list of all possible results, and the one currently selected is highlighted in green. Click a different result to change the smelting output.[1]

Your smelting choice is saved to the block itself, so it persists when the world is unloaded and loaded again.[1]

Smithing

The smithing screen behaves exactly like the crafting screen. When a valid input matches more than one output, a button shows up above the output slot, and picking a result changes the output to match.[1]

Finding conflicts

The command /polymorph conflicts tries to identify recipes that conflict with each other and writes the list to your logs folder. It scans crafting, smelting, blasting, smoking and smithing recipes.[1]

Tip: If you're curious which recipes in your game share ingredients, run the conflicts command and read the log file it produces. It's a quick way to see where you'll get a choice button.[1]

Unverified The sources don't say how Polymorph interacts with machines from other mods in this pack, such as automation setups or modded crafting blocks. They also don't confirm any pack-specific config or recipe changes for it.

What changed in Polymorph between versions?

2 parts

Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Polymorph 0.49.10+1.20.1. The mod was first included in pack version 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[2]

0.49.10+1.20.1 (in the pack)

This release is dated 2025.04.22 and is the version you have in the pack. Its one listed change is a fix: potential concurrency crashes were fixed.[2][3]

0.49.11+1.20.1 (newer, not in the pack)

The next release, dated 2026.09.09, changed the JEI compatibility. It removes mixins and uses the new recipe transfer listener API. This version is not the one in this pack release, so you won't get this change here unless the pack updates the mod.[2][4]

Unverified No pack changelog entries mentioning Polymorph were available, so what changed for this mod between individual pack releases is unverified.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as polymorph, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
