What is Thermal Dynamics?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide
Thermal Dynamics is the logistics and transport module of the Thermal Series. It adds ducts that move Energy and Fluids across distances great and small, plus some extra logistical blocks related to transport.[1]
This pack includes Thermal Dynamics version 9.2.2 for Minecraft 1.18.2.[2]
Who it's for
If you're building a base where power and fluids need to get from where they're made to where they're used, this is the mod for that job. The Thermal Series is modular, so players and pack makers can pick only the parts they want, and Dynamics is the part focused on getting things from A to B.[1]
The Thermal Series is also where several features you probably take for granted in modded Minecraft started: side reconfiguration, advanced redstone control and blue/orange input coloring all trace back to it. The Forge Energy system grew out of Redstone Flux, which also came from the series.[1]
Good to know
- The Thermal Series requires CoFH Core to run.[1]
- The mod's feature list on its project page is still marked as a work in progress, so don't expect a full rundown there.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
Unverified The sources don't say where Thermal Dynamics fits in this pack's progression. It is not on the ATM Star quest path, no quests in this pack involve it, and no in-jar guidebook was found for it. Treat it as an optional transport mod you can use whenever you need it.
How do you get started with Thermal Dynamics?
2 parts
Thermal Dynamics is the logistics and transport part of the Thermal series. It gives you ducts that move energy and fluids across distances great and small, plus some extra logistical blocks related to transport.[1]
Here is what you will be working with, so you know what to look for when you start building.[3]
The ducts
- The Fluxduct is the energy duct, so it is what you use to move power.[3]
- The Fluiduct is the fluid duct, and there is also a Fluiduct (Windowed) variant.[3]
- The RF Distribution Interface and the Fluid Distribution Interface are the matching energy and fluid blocks in the mod's language file.[3]
Attachments that control the flow
- Attachment: Servo and Attachment: Turbo-Servo handle extraction, and on the fluid versions Redstone Control is used to enable extraction. The fluid Turbo-Servo is described as a much faster Servo with limited filtering.[3]
- Attachment: Filter has bidirectional, outbound (from the duct) and inbound (to the duct) modes. On the fluid filter, Redstone Control can be used to temporarily disable filtering.[3]
- Attachment: Redstone Flux Limiter caps how much energy flows through it. You can set different amounts for each direction, and holding Shift and/or Ctrl lets you fine tune the amounts.[3]
- The Logistical Item Buffer restricts the quantity and flow of items. You set items and quantities in its left grid, and Latch I/O only allows extraction once all the items are present. It is very useful for maintaining specific item ratios.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show the in-pack crafting recipes for Thermal Dynamics items, or any quest chapter that covers them, so the order in which to craft these items is unverified. Check the pack's recipe viewer in game for how each item is made. This site does hold Project Infinity 0.1's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Thermal Dynamics work?
3 parts
Thermal Dynamics is the logistics part of the Thermal series. It gives you ducts that carry energy and fluids over short or long distances, plus extra blocks for handling transport. Here is what the mod itself says about how those pieces work.[1]
Ducts and interfaces
The mod has a Fluxduct for energy and a Fluiduct for fluids. There is also a windowed version of the Fluiduct. For the endpoints, there is an RF Distribution Interface for energy and a Fluid Distribution Interface for fluids.[3]
Attachments
Attachments are items that change how a duct behaves. The ones named in the mod's text are the Filter, the Servo, the Turbo-Servo and the Redstone Flux Limiter.[3]
- Redstone Flux Limiter: it limits the amount of energy flowing through it. You can set different amounts for each direction, and holding Shift and/or Ctrl lets you fine tune the amounts.[3]
- Filter: it can work in bidirectional mode, outbound (from duct) mode or inbound (to duct) mode.[3]
- Fluid filter: you put items that contain fluid into the slots, and that fluid is added to the filter list. Extra options fine-tune the filtering, and Redstone Control can temporarily disable it.[3]
- Fluid Servo: it uses the same fluid-in-a-slot filter list and the same fine-tuning options. Here Redstone Control is used to enable extraction, rather than to temporarily disable filtering as on the fluid filter.[3]
- Fluid Turbo-Servo: a much faster Servo, but with limited filtering. You put an item containing the fluid in the filter slot. Extra options fine-tune filtering and the extraction amount, and Redstone Control enables extraction (rather than temporarily disabling filtering as on the fluid filter).[3]
Logistical Item Buffer
The Logistical Item Buffer restricts the quantity and flow of items. You set the items and quantities you want in the left grid, and the mouse wheel fine-tunes the quantity of an item.[3]
It also has a Latch I/O option, which requires all the set items to be present before extraction is allowed. That makes the buffer very useful for maintaining specific item ratios.[3]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as thermal_dynamics, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
