What is Thermal Dynamics?
3 parts
Thermal Dynamics is the logistics and transport module of the Thermal Series. It adds ducts that move Energy and Fluids across distances great and small, plus some extra logistical blocks related to transport.[1]
This pack includes Thermal Dynamics version 9.2.2 for Minecraft 1.18.2.[2]
Who it's for
If you're building a base where power and fluids need to get from where they're made to where they're used, this is the mod for that job. The Thermal Series is modular, so players and pack makers can pick only the parts they want, and Dynamics is the part focused on getting things from A to B.[1]
The Thermal Series is also where several features you probably take for granted in modded Minecraft started: side reconfiguration, advanced redstone control and blue/orange input coloring all trace back to it. The Forge Energy system grew out of Redstone Flux, which also came from the series.[1]
Good to know
- The Thermal Series requires CoFH Core to run.[1]
- The mod's feature list on its project page is still marked as a work in progress, so don't expect a full rundown there.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
Unverified The sources don't say where Thermal Dynamics fits in this pack's progression. It is not on the ATM Star quest path, no quests in this pack involve it, and no in-jar guidebook was found for it. Treat it as an optional transport mod you can use whenever you need it.
How do you get started with Thermal Dynamics?
2 parts
Thermal Dynamics is the transport part of the Thermal series. It adds ducts that move Energy and Fluids across distances great and small, plus some extra logistical blocks related to transport. If you want power or fluids to travel from where you make them to where you use them, this is the mod for it.[1]
What I can confirm about your first steps
Here's the honest part: for this pack I don't have any confirmed recipes, quests or item descriptions for this mod. That means I can't give you a verified crafting order or show recipe cards, and I'd rather not guess at ingredients or item names.[1]
Unverified The first items to craft, the order to craft them in, and their in-pack recipes could not be confirmed from the available sources. Check the in-game recipe viewer for the mod's items to see the exact recipes in this pack. This site does hold All the Mods - Gravitas's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Where the settings live
The Thermal series shares its config files, so it's worth knowing where they are before you start tweaking. Client options go in thermal-client.toml in the config folder. Worldgen options go in thermal-common.toml in the same folder, but those are for 1.18.2 only. Server options go in thermal-server.toml, which lives in the serverconfigs folder inside your world's save folder.[1]
The mod's project page lists its feature section as a work in progress, so I can't say more about its mechanics without making things up. As soon as the recipes and behavior are confirmed for this pack, this section can grow into a proper step-by-step start.[1]
How does Thermal Dynamics work?
1 part
Thermal Dynamics is the logistics module of the Thermal Series. Its job is to move things around: it provides ducts that carry Energy and Fluids over distances great and small, plus additional logistical blocks related to transport.[1]
The wider Thermal Series has a long history with the systems you will use here. Forge Energy grew out of Redstone Flux, and side reconfiguration, advanced redstone control and blue/orange input coloring all started in the Thermal Series.[1]
What the sources don't cover
The mod's project page lists its features section as a work in progress, and it is the only source I have for this mod. Nothing is documented about duct tiers, transfer rates, capacities, item transport, how ducts connect to machines, or any multiblocks.[1]
Unverified Specific duct types, their throughput and capacity, and how to configure and automate them in this pack are unverified. The pack's version of the mod, and whether it matches the 1.18.2 and 1.19.2 versions listed as under active development, is also unverified. Check the items in-game, for example in JEI, before relying on any numbers or behavior. This site does hold All the Mods - Gravitas's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
What changed in Thermal Dynamics between versions?
1 part
All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 includes Thermal Dynamics 9.2.2, the 1.18.2 build. The mod was first included in All the Mods - Gravitas 1.3 or earlier.[2]
Mod changelog
The one mod changelog entry available here is from version 9.2.1b, and it is a fix: ducts now have a larger minimum capacity. That helps mods that only deal with large amounts of energy and/or fluid at once.[3]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as thermal_dynamics, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
