What is FastSuite?
1 part
FastSuite speeds up recipe matching. It doesn't target one set of recipes: it improves matching for every mod that uses the JSON recipe system, so the benefit applies across the whole pack.[1]
This pack ships FastSuite 5.1.2. That sits in the concurrent matching era (4.1.0 to 6.x). In that approach, any recipe type with more than 100 recipes has its matching spread across multiple threads instead of one. In All The Mods 8 this produced a 10x to 12x speedup, and it was more compatible and less brittle than the older list reordering model.[1][2]
Compatibility
FastSuite is built to be non-intrusive. It should work with other mods unless another mod also replaces the recipe manager. It is compatible with recipe modification mods such as KubeJS and CraftTweaker, and it causes no issues with JEI.[1]
It does not replace FastWorkbench or FastFurnace. Their benefits are lessened when FastSuite is installed, because some of the work is offloaded to FastSuite. The author still recommends all three for maximum recipe performance.[1]
How do you get started with FastSuite?
2 parts
FastSuite isn't a mod you build anything with. It speeds up recipe matching for every mod that uses the JSON recipe system, so it works in the background and there's no first item to craft. I couldn't find any FastSuite item or recipe in the sources for this pack, so there are no recipe blocks here.[1]
What to do first
Play normally. The mod is built to be non-intrusive and should work with other mods, unless another mod also replaces the recipe manager. It is compatible with recipe modification mods such as KubeJS and CraftTweaker, and it causes no issues with JEI.[1]
Settings worth knowing
All of the mod's options are in the config file, under the general section. You don't need to touch them to start playing. Here is what each one does and how this pack sets it.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Single Threaded Recipe Types]] is a list of recipe types that may only be looked up on the main thread. Add a recipe type to it if errors start happening. The pack sets it to an empty list, which is a change from the mod default.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Max Recipe Lookup Time]] is the longest a recipe lookup may take, in seconds, before it is aborted and an error is logged. It is set to 25 here, the same as the mod default, and it accepts values from 1 to 300.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Unsafe Mode]] is off. If you turn it on, FastSuite parallelizes all recipes without validation, which can cause crashes if a recipe is not thread safe.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Lock Crafting Input Stacks]] is off. It is a debugging option: when on, recipe input stacks are locked and throw an error if they are modified during parallel matching.[3]
Unverified Which FastSuite version this pack ships is not confirmed in the sources, so it is unclear which matching approach (concurrent or indexed) it uses.
How does FastSuite work?
2 parts
FastSuite doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item handling. It's a background optimization that speeds up recipe matching for every mod that uses the JSON recipe system, not just one set of recipes. So the core mechanics here are about how recipes get looked up, plus the few settings you can tweak.[1]
How recipe matching works
The mod has used three strategies over its lifetime. Old versions (4.0.0 and older) kept recipes in a move-to-front list, so often-used recipes became cheaper to find. Versions 4.1.0 to 6.x spread matching across several threads for any recipe type with more than 100 recipes. The current approach (7.0.0 and newer) drops threading and indexes recipes so only viable candidates get tested.[1]
According to the project page, indexed matching finds all recipes for an input roughly 2x to 4.5x faster than vanilla, with no threading and no per-match data writes.[1]
It's built to be non-intrusive. It works with recipe modification mods such as KubeJS and CraftTweaker, and it causes no issues with JEI. The one real conflict is another mod that also replaces the recipe manager. It doesn't replace FastWorkbench or FastFurnace, but their benefits shrink when it's installed, because some of the work is offloaded to FastSuite.[1]
The pack's settings
Everything you can adjust lives in the general section of the mod's config file. The option descriptions talk about parallel matching, which fits the threaded approach from the older versions. The sources don't say which FastSuite version this pack ships, so I can't tell you which strategy it actually runs.[1][3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Single Threaded Recipe Types]] is a list of recipe types that may only be looked up on the main thread. You add a type to it if errors start happening. The pack changed this from the mod default and sets it to an empty list.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Max Recipe Lookup Time]] is the longest a recipe lookup may take, in seconds, before it is aborted and an error is logged. It is 25 in the pack, the same as the mod default, and it accepts values from 1 to 300.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Lock Crafting Input Stacks]] is off (false) in the pack, same as the mod default. When on, the stacks used as recipe inputs are locked and throw an error if something modifies them during parallel matching. It's meant for debugging.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Unsafe Mode]] is off (false) in the pack, same as the mod default. When on, FastSuite parallelizes all recipes without validating them.[3]
Unverified The exact FastSuite version installed in this pack, and therefore whether it uses threaded or indexed matching, is not confirmed by the available sources.
Which FastSuite config options matter?
2 parts
FastSuite's config is short, and the pack only changes one value from the mod default: the list of recipe types forced onto the main thread. Here is how everything is set.[3]
The one value the pack changed
[[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Single Threaded Recipe Types]] is a list of recipe types that may only be looked up on the main thread. The option's own description says to add a recipe type here if errors start happening. This pack sets the list to empty, which differs from the mod default, so no recipe type is forced onto the main thread out of the box.[3]
Options left at the mod default
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Max Recipe Lookup Time]] is 25 in this pack, the same as the mod default. It is the maximum time, in seconds, that a recipe lookup may take before the lookup is aborted and an error is logged. The allowed range is 1 to 300.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Lock Crafting Input Stacks]] is false, the same as the mod default. If you turn it on, the stacks used as recipe inputs are locked and throw an error if they are modified during parallel matching. It is meant for debugging.[3]
- [[config:config/fastsuite.cfg#general.Unsafe Mode]] is false, the same as the mod default. If true, FastSuite parallelizes all recipes without validating them, which can cause crashes if a recipe is not thread safe.[3]
What changed in FastSuite between versions?
This pack ships FastSuite 5.1.2 (the file FastSuite-1.20.1-5.1.2.jar) in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2. The mod was already in the pack by version 0.0.47.0 at the latest, so it's been there for a good while.[2]
Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for FastSuite, and the details of what changed between FastSuite versions couldn't be confirmed, so there are no specific changes to list here.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as fastsuite, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
