What is AE2NetworkAnalyzer?

3 parts

The ME Network Analyzer is a tool for Applied Energistics 2 players who want to see what is going on inside their ME network. If you have ever hunted for the one device that went offline, this is the tool for it. The pack ships AE2NetworkAnalyzer version 1.20-1.0.6-forge.[1][2]

You click any block, cable or device that connects to the ME network. You then see every device's status and how the devices connect to each other.[2]

Reading the display

  • Blue cube: a normal ME device with enough channels. It can pass 8 channels.[2]
  • Yellow cube: a dense ME device with enough channels. It can pass 32 channels.[2]
  • Red cube: an offline ME device that doesn't have enough channels.[2]
  • Blue link holds at most 8 channels, yellow link holds at most 32, and a pink link is an ME P2P link.[2]
  • The numbers show how many channels each link carries.[2]
Tip: The real channel maximum depends on your ME Channel Mode. When Infinity Channel mode is on, the analyser won't show channel numbers.[2]

Display modes

You can change the analysis mode and the colors in the Config GUI. There are 5 modes: Full shows all network status, Nodes shows only node status, Links shows only link status, No Number hides the channel numbers, and P2P shows only ME P2P links. You can also change the node and link colors.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book has a quest for it, a quest in "Useful mods and Items", which asks you to obtain the ME Network Analyzer. It lives in the chapter "Useful mods and Items", chapter 3 of 44 in the book, which holds 37 quests.[3]

How do you get started with AE2NetworkAnalyzer?

3 parts

This mod adds one item, the ME Network Analyzer, and it is the only thing you need to make. It shows the status of your ME network, so you can see which device is offline and how everything connects.[2][4][5]

Step 1: Craft the analyzer

The pack uses the mod's own shaped crafting recipe for it. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[4]

The quest book also has an entry for it. a quest in "Useful mods and Items" sits in the chapter "Useful mods and Items" (chapter 3 of 44), and its task is to get the item.[3]

Step 2: Click your network

Click any block, cable or device that connects to your ME network. You will see every device's status and how the devices link to each other.[2]

  • Blue cube: a normal ME device with enough channels. It can pass 8 channels.[2]
  • Yellow cube: a dense ME device with enough channels. It can pass 32 channels.[2]
  • Red cube: an offline device that doesn't have enough channels.[2]
  • Blue link: holds 8 channels at most. Yellow link: holds 32 channels at most.[2]
  • Pink link: an ME P2P link.[2]
  • Numbers: how many channels that link carries.[2]
Watch out: The real channel maximum depends on your ME Channel Mode. When Infinity Channel mode is on, the analyzer won't show channel numbers.[2]

Step 3: Pick a display mode

You can change the analysis mode and the colors in the config GUI. There are 5 modes:[2]

  • Full: shows all network status.[2]
  • Nodes: shows only node status.[2]
  • Links: shows only link status.[2]
  • No Number: hides the channel numbers.[2]
  • P2P: shows only ME P2P links.[2]

You can also change the node and link colors, and the GUI has a Reset Color button if you want the defaults back.[2][5]

Tip: When a device drops offline, use Nodes mode to find the red cubes first. The GUI also lists counts of normal, dense and offline nodes.[2][5]

How does AE2NetworkAnalyzer work?

3 parts

The ME Network Analyzer is a tool for looking inside your ME network. If you've ever wondered which device went offline, or just wanted to see how your network is laid out, this is the answer.[2][5]

Reading your network

Click any block, cable or device that connects to the ME network. You'll see every device's status and how the devices connect to each other. Colors and shapes tell you what you're looking at.[2]

  • Blue cube: a normal ME device. It has enough channels and can pass 8 channels.[2]
  • Yellow cube: a dense ME device. It has enough channels and can pass 32 channels.[2]
  • Red cube: an offline ME device, which means it doesn't have enough channels.[2]
  • Blue link: this link can hold 8 channels at most.[2]
  • Yellow link: this link can hold 32 channels at most.[2]
  • Pink link: an ME P2P link.[2]
  • Numbers: how many channels the link is carrying.[2]

The analyzer's screen also keeps a count of Normal Nodes, Dense Nodes and Offline Nodes, so you can spot a problem at a glance.[5]

Watch out: The real maximum channel number depends on your ME Channel Mode, so the 8 and 32 above aren't always the limit. The analyzer won't show channel numbers at all when Infinity Channel mode is on.[2]

The analyzer's screen names the channel mode it detects: Default, x2 Channels, x3 Channels, x4 Channels or Infinite Channel.[5]

Display modes and colors

You change the analysis mode and colors in the config GUI. There are 5 modes:[2]

  • Full: displays all network status.[2]
  • Nodes: only displays node status.[2]
  • Links: only displays link status.[2]
  • No Number: hides the channel numbers.[2]
  • P2P: only displays ME P2P links.[2]

You can also change the node and link colors. The screen has a Size setting and a Reset Color button too.[2][5]

Tip: If a big network looks like a mess, switch to P2P mode to see only your P2P links, or to Nodes mode to focus on node status, where offline devices show up as red cubes.[2]

How do you progress through AE2NetworkAnalyzer?

4 parts

There are no tiers to climb here. The sources for this pack show a single item, the ME Network Analyzer, and a single crafting recipe for it. So the path is short: find the quest, craft the tool, then use it on your ME network.[2][4]

Where the quest book puts it

The pack's quest book has a quest for the analyzer, a quest in "Useful mods and Items". It sits in the chapter "Useful mods and Items", which is chapter 3 of 44 and holds 37 quests. The quest has no title of its own, and its task is the ME Network Analyzer item.[3]

The same chapter also has a quest about inscriber presses, a quest in "Useful mods and Items". The rest of the chapter is a mix of utility items, such as the Digital Miner in "Digital Miner" quest and the Construction Wand in "Construction Wand" quest.[3]

Crafting it

The recipe is a shaped crafting recipe that comes from the mod itself. Here is exactly what the pack uses:[4]

What you get from it

Click any block, cable or device on your ME network and the analyzer shows every device's status and how they connect. A blue cube is a normal device that can pass 8 channels. A yellow cube is a dense device that can pass 32 channels. A red cube is an offline device that doesn't have enough channels.[2]

Links are colored too: blue holds at most 8 channels, yellow at most 32, and pink is an ME P2P link. The number on a link is how many channels it carries.[2]

Tip: The maximum channel count depends on your ME Channel Mode. If Infinity Channel mode is on, the analyzer won't show channel numbers.[2]

Display modes

You can change the analysis mode and the node and link colors in the config GUI. There are 5 modes:[2]

  • Full: displays all network status.[2]
  • Nodes: only displays node status.[2]
  • Links: only displays link status.[2]
  • No Number: hides the channel numbers.[2]
  • P2P: only displays ME P2P links.[2]

How does AE2NetworkAnalyzer work with other mods?

3 parts

The ME Network Analyzer is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 (AE2), and that is the one integration the pack's recipes and quests show. It doesn't build on any other mod's items.[2][4]

Crafting ties it to AE2

Its crafting recipe is the mod's own shaped recipe, and the pack doesn't mark it as changed. It uses AE2 parts together with generic copper and iron ingots from the common ingot tags, so any mod's copper or iron works as the metals. You'll need to have AE2 progress going before you can make it.[4]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book has a quest for the analyzer, a quest in "Useful mods and Items", in the chapter "Useful mods and Items" (chapter 3 of 44, 37 quests). The quest has no title of its own and just asks you to obtain ME Network Analyzer.[3]

The same chapter also holds an AE2 quest, a quest in "Useful mods and Items", which asks for inscriber presses and a meteorite compass. The analyzer's quest is listed in that chapter among many other mods' utility items.[3]

How it works with the ME network

The analyzer reads your ME network: click any block, cable or device on it to see each device's status and how they connect. It shows normal links carrying up to 8 channels, dense links carrying up to 32, and ME P2P links in pink.[2]

Tip: The maximum channel number depends on your ME Channel Mode, and the analyzer won't show channel numbers when Infinity Channel mode is on.[2]

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use AE2NetworkAnalyzer?

1 part

The ME Network Analyzer has its quest in the chapter "Useful mods and Items". That is chapter 3 of 44 in the pack's quest book, and it holds 37 quests.[3]

The ME Network Analyzer quest

The quest is a quest in "Useful mods and Items". It has one task: get the ME Network Analyzer. The book gives it no title of its own, so it is named after the item it asks for.[3]

In the chapter's quest listing it comes right after "Things that are disabled" quest, a checkmark quest, and right before a quest in "Useful mods and Items". A bit earlier in the listing are a quest in "Useful mods and Items" and "Shrinking Device" quest.[3]

The rest of the chapter is mostly quests that ask you to get a single item or a small set of items from many different mods, such as "Building Gadget" quest and "Flux Network" quest. The Network Analyzer quest follows the same pattern.[3]
