What is AE All Pattern?

AE All Pattern is part of this pack. The pack ships version 0.2.3-beta.2, in the file aeallpattern-1.20.1-forge-0.2.3-beta.2.jar, so it is a beta build for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge.[1]

It was already in the pack by version 0.0.51.4, and it is still there in 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2. If you are updating from an earlier release of the pack, you should not need to add it yourself.[1]

Unverified The sources available for this guide do not describe what AE All Pattern does, and no in-jar guidebook was found for it. Its features, items and recipes are therefore not covered here.

How do you get started with AE All Pattern?

5 parts

AE All Pattern is crafted entirely from AE2 parts, so you need a working AE2 setup first. The order below follows how the recipes depend on each other.[2]

All Pattern Binder

Start with the All Pattern Binder. It is an ingredient in the All Pattern Generator, so you have to make it before you can move on.[2]

All Pattern Generator

Next comes the All Pattern Generator. Its recipe consumes the Binder, so make the Binder first.[2]

All Pattern Linker

The All Pattern Linker is the item that binds to machines. Its recipe is changed by the pack, so use the one below and not the mod's default recipe from elsewhere.[2][3]

In this pack a linker can bind machines in another dimension, and cross-dimension bindings ignore the distance limit. The linker's chunk still has to be loaded for that to work. Same-dimension distance is unlimited, because the maximum is set to 0.[3][4]

Tianshu Pattern Router

Last is the Tianshu Pattern Router. Its recipe does not use the Binder, Generator or Linker, so you can make it whenever you have the AE2 parts, including an ME Pattern Provider.[2]

Limits worth knowing early

The pack leaves the recipe limit at its maximum, so you are unlikely to hit it. A newly generated aggregate pattern can store up to 1,048,576 recipes, set by aggregatePattern.singlePatternRecipeLimit. Recipes beyond that limit are skipped. A recipe input tag expands to at most 1,024 item alternatives, set by aggregatePattern.tagExpansionLimit.[3][4]

The selection screen loads 1,024 patterns per page, set by patternSelection.displayLimit. Searches still match the full catalog, not just the loaded page.[3][4]

Tip: In an Aggregate Pattern's selection screen, click a pattern to toggle it: cyan means published and gray means not. The screen also has a Settings tab, and those settings are stored on the Aggregate Pattern itself.[4]

How does AE All Pattern work?

5 parts

This mod is built around Aggregate Patterns: a single pattern that can store many recipes, with its settings kept on the pattern itself. Around that you get the All Pattern Linker, which binds machines, and the Tianshu Pattern Router, which helps your ME network choose between recipes when there are several options.[3][4]

Aggregate Pattern limits

aggregatePattern.singlePatternRecipeLimit caps how many recipes go into one aggregate pattern. In this pack it is currently set to 1,048,576, which is the top of its range (1 to 1,048,576) and matches the default in the mod's own text. Recipes beyond the cap are skipped.[3][4]

aggregatePattern.tagExpansionLimit limits how many item alternatives get expanded from one recipe input tag. The pack currently uses 1,024, the same as the default.[3][4]

Per-pattern settings

An Aggregate Pattern has a management screen with a Patterns tab and a Settings tab. The settings are currently stored on that pattern. Here is what the toggles do:[4]

  • Item substitution currently uses AE2's native item substitution for crafting, stonecutting and smithing patterns. Fluid substitution uses AE2's native contained-fluid substitution for crafting patterns.[4]
  • Ignore output NBT currently matches only the base output item during AE planning and ignores components and NBT.[4]
  • Remove input fluids and Remove output fluids strip fluids from processing patterns when switched on. Recipes left without inputs or outputs are skipped.[4]
  • Remove input chemicals and Remove output chemicals do the same for Applied Mekanistics chemicals in processing patterns when switched on.[4]
  • Remove processing catalysts removes inputs tagged as reusable processing catalysts when switched on. Crafting patterns are unchanged.[4]
  • Skip durability recipes stops a recipe from being encoded when an input tool loses durability after each operation. Unchanged catalysts and containers such as buckets are not affected.[4]
  • Skip chance byproducts stops chance-based byproducts from being exposed as pattern outputs. Skip chance main stops a recipe from being encoded when its main output is chance-based.[4]
  • Split identical items turns an item amount n into n independent inputs with amount 1.[4]
  • Swap first/last inputs is for processing patterns only. It swaps the first and last input slots for subnet machines that need a specific input order, and fewer than two inputs are unchanged.[4]

Choosing which recipes are published

The selection screen lists the patterns inside an aggregate pattern. Click one to toggle it: cyan means published, gray means not. You also get Select All and Deselect All buttons and a Selected count.[4]

The search box can currently match against each pattern's input ingredients or its output products, and searching does not modify the pattern. patternSelection.displayLimit sets how many patterns load per page: 1,024 in this pack, with an allowed range of 1 to 16,384. Searches still match the full catalog, not just the page you see.[3][4]

All Pattern Linker

The All Pattern Linker binds machines. Its settings are stored on the linker, and two config options control how far a binding can reach.[3][4]

Watch out: Cross-dimension bindings currently require the linker's chunk to be loaded, so keep that chunk loaded if you bind machines across dimensions.[4]

The pack changed the linker's crafting recipe from the mod's own version, so don't rely on recipes you remember from elsewhere. This is the in-pack one:[2]

Tianshu Pattern Router

When more than one recipe can make an item, the Tianshu Pattern Router lets you set route preferences. These preferences are only available when an online router is on that ME network, and changes recalculate materials immediately.[4]

The router's in-pack crafting recipe.

The preferences form a decision order. Rows higher in the list decide first, and later rows only break ties. You can drag the left handle to reorder them. Feasibility is always on and always first, so only routes with no missing ingredients get submitted.[4]

  • Path preference cycles between balanced, long and short. Short prefers fewer steps and a shorter dependency chain. Long prefers more steps and the most elaborate chain. When it is off, recipe step count is currently ignored.[4]
  • Fast, when chosen, prefers routes with shorter processing time.[4]
  • Aggregate pattern priority: left-click adds 1 and right-click subtracts 1. Normal patterns use priority 0, and the default of -1 always prefers a feasible normal pattern.[4]
  • Allow amplifying cycles is enabled by default. It recognizes loops such as A + D making 2A by reserving a startup seed, then repeating the recipe until enough is available. When disabled, gain loops are still cut by the normal cycle safety guard.[4]
  • Allow independent byproduct orders is disabled by default, to avoid accidentally ordering an expensive recipe for a small byproduct. When enabled, a whole recipe may run just to get one of its byproducts. When disabled, byproducts are only reused inside the same order or returned alongside the primary output.[4]

If a route also produces extra items, the screen shows a warning line starting with "Also produces", so you can spot a recipe with side effects before you start the craft.[4]

How do you progress through AE All Pattern?

3 parts

This mod has no tier ladder of its own in this pack. What the recipes do show is how its items relate through crafting, so you can work out a sensible order to make them in. This section covers the crafting side only.[2]

Step 1: the All Pattern Binder

The All Pattern Binder is the first link in the crafting chain. It uses the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack, and it is also an ingredient in the next item.[2]

Crafting Shaped

Step 2: the All Pattern Generator

The All Pattern Generator needs a finished All Pattern Binder in its recipe, so you craft the Binder first. It is also a mod recipe, not one the pack changed.[2]

The mod's own recipe, and it consumes a Binder.

The Linker and the Router

The All Pattern Linker and the Tianshu Pattern Router (shown in game as Tianshu Pattern Router) don't use the Binder or the Generator in their recipes, so you can craft them independently of that chain.[2]

Watch out: The pack changes the recipe for the All Pattern Linker, so don't rely on the mod's default recipe from other guides. Use the recipe shown below.[2]

How does AE All Pattern work with other mods?

4 parts

In this pack, AE All Pattern connects to one mod only: AE2. Every item from the mod is crafted from AE2 parts, and the recipes below are the exact in-pack versions. The only non-AE2 ingredient is a vanilla stick in the Binder recipe.[2]

The All Pattern Binder

The All Pattern Binder is built from AE2 pattern and crystal materials plus a Stick, so you can make it as soon as you have those AE2 parts.[2]

Crafting Shaped

The All Pattern Generator

The All Pattern Generator uses AE2 cards, patterns and processors. It also needs the Binder, so craft that one first.[2]

The All Pattern Linker

The All Pattern Linker uses AE2's ME Pattern Provider and an Engineering Processor.[2]

Watch out: The pack changed the Linker recipe. If you have seen a different recipe for it elsewhere, trust the one shown here.[2]

The Tianshu Pattern Router

The Tianshu Pattern Router also builds on the ME Pattern Provider, and it is the only item from the mod that needs both the Calculation Processor and the Engineering Processor.[2]

Which AE All Pattern config options matter?

3 parts

All of this mod's settings live in one file, config/aeallpattern-common.toml. Here is exactly what the pack sets, grouped by feature.[3]

Aggregate patterns

  • aggregatePattern.singlePatternRecipeLimit is set to 1,048,576. It caps how many recipes a newly generated aggregate pattern can store, and 1,048,576 is also the top of its allowed range (1 to 1,048,576). So the pack sets it to the maximum.[3]
  • aggregatePattern.tagExpansionLimit is set to 1,024. It caps how many item alternatives get expanded from a single recipe ingredient tag. The file says the value must be greater than 1.[3]

Pattern linker

Tip: With cross-dimension binding on and the distance limit at 0, a linker can bind machines at any range, in this dimension or another. You only need to set a distance limit if you want to restrict that.[3]

Pattern selection

patternSelection.displayLimit is set to 1,024, with an allowed range of 1 to 16,384. The file gives no description for this option, so check the in-game behaviour before relying on it.[3]

Unverified The config file shows the values this pack uses but not the mod's own defaults, so it can't be confirmed here which of these options the pack changed.
