What is XNet Gases?

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

XNet Gases is part of this pack. The pack ships version 6.0.2, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 (the file is xnetgases-1.21.1-6.0.2.jar). It has been in the pack since this version or earlier.[1]

Unverified The pack files I have don't describe what XNet Gases does, which recipes or configs the pack changes, or where it fits in the progression. I won't guess at any of that here. The sources also don't confirm any quests or an ATM Star path for this mod, so check in-game before relying on either.

How do you get started with XNet Gases?

2 parts

I can't give you a confirmed crafting order for this mod yet, so this section sticks to what the pack's files show: how the connectors behave and what limits the pack sets.[2][3]

What you will be doing with it

XNet Gases deals with chemicals. A connector can be set to extract chemicals from the connected block, or to insert chemicals into it. A sensor mode can also scan the amount of chemical in the connected block.[2]

When you route chemicals along a channel, the distribution mode is either Priority or Roundrobin.[2]

Connector limits in this pack

The pack caps how much chemical a connector moves per operation. A normal connector is limited by general.maxChemicalRateNormal, which is set to 1,000. An advanced connector is limited by general.maxChemicalRateAdvanced, which is set to 5,000.[3]

Both values are the same as the mod defaults, so the pack hasn't changed them. You can edit them in config/xnetgases.toml.[3]

Tip: The rate setting on a connector shows the chemical rate in mb and the maximum it allows. Check that maximum when you plan a setup, because the normal connector tops out well below the advanced one.[2][3]

Unverified The crafting recipes for this mod's items could not be confirmed from the available sources, so there is no verified first-items list here. Check the recipe viewer in game for the exact in-pack recipes. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does XNet Gases work?

4 parts

XNet Gases adds chemical handling through connectors, channels and a sensor. The sources only describe a handful of controls, so this section covers what they confirm: connector modes, channel distribution, the sensor, and the transfer limits.[2]

Connectors

A connector can be set to extract or insert. In extract mode it pulls chemicals out of the block it is connected to. In insert mode it pushes chemicals into the connected block.[2]

Channel distribution

A channel has a distribution mode, which can be Priority or Roundrobin. The tooltip shows which one is currently active.[2]

Sensor

The sensor scans the amount of chemical in the connected block.[2]

Transfer rates

Each connector has a chemical rate setting, and its tooltip shows the maximum allowed in mb. The ceiling comes from the config and depends on whether the connector is normal or advanced.[2][3]

Both values match the mod defaults, so the pack hasn't changed them. If you edit them, each can be set anywhere from 1 to 1,000,000,000.[3]

Which XNet Gases config options matter?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

XNet Gases keeps its config small. There are only two options here, and both control how much chemical a connector can move in a single operation. You'll find them in config/xnetgases.toml.[4]

  • general.maxChemicalRateNormal is the maximum chemical per operation that a normal connector can input or output. This pack sets it to 1,000, which is the same as the mod default. The allowed range is 1 to 1,000,000,000.[4]
  • general.maxChemicalRateAdvanced is the maximum chemical per operation that an advanced connector can input or output. This pack sets it to 5,000, which is also the same as the mod default. The allowed range is 1 to 1,000,000,000.[4]

Did the pack change anything?

No. Both values match the mod defaults, so what you see here is how the mod normally behaves. An advanced connector can move 5,000 chemical per operation, against 1,000 for a normal one.[4]

Tip: If you want faster chemical transfer on your own world, raising these values is the lever to pull. Both accept anything from 1 up to 1,000,000,000. Keep in mind that this would be a change from the pack's setup, not the pack's own behavior.[4]

What changed in XNet Gases between versions?

3 parts

Here's what the mod's own changelog tells us. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's releases.[5]

FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships XNet Gases 6.0.2. The mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier.[6]

6.0.1 (2025-07-29)

  • Fixed the filter slot not accepting any items.[5]
  • Fixed the transfer rate and minmax being set to 0.[5]
  • Changed the default transfer rate of advanced connectors. It used to be the normal value, and now it comes from the advanced connector value in the config file.[5]

6.0.0 (2024-12-02)

This was the initial port of the mod to 1.21.[5]

6.0.2

Unverified The pack includes XNet Gases 6.0.2, but the changelog available for this guide stops at 6.0.1. What changed in 6.0.2 is unconfirmed.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as xnetgases, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
