What is XNet Gases?

XNet Gases is part of this pack. The pack ships version 6.0.2, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 (the file is xnetgases-1.21.1-6.0.2.jar). It has been in the pack since this version or earlier.[1]

Unverified The pack files I have don't describe what XNet Gases does, which recipes or configs the pack changes, or where it fits in the progression. I won't guess at any of that here. The sources also don't confirm any quests or an ATM Star path for this mod, so check in-game before relying on either.

How do you get started with XNet Gases?

1 part

Here's the honest picture for getting started with XNet Gases: the only thing I can confirm about it in this pack is what its in-game tooltips say. That tells us what you'll be setting up once you have the parts, but not what to craft first or in what order.[2]

What the tooltips tell us you'll be doing

  • Moving chemicals between blocks: a connector can be set to extract chemicals from a connected block or to insert chemicals into a connected block.[2]
  • Choosing how a channel shares chemicals: the distribution mode can be Priority or Roundrobin.[2]
  • Limiting the flow: there is a chemical rate setting with a maximum shown in mb.[2]
  • Automatic shut-off: a connector can be told to disable itself when a chemical is too high or too low.[2]
  • Monitoring: a sensor mode scans the amount of chemical in a connected block.[2]

A sensible habit once you have the parts: decide first whether each connector should extract or insert, because that is the basic job of every connection in the tooltips. Then pick Priority or Roundrobin for the channel, and only after that fine-tune the rate and the disable limits.[2]

Unverified No recipes, quests or in-jar guidebook for XNet Gases could be confirmed in this pack, so the first items to craft, their order, and how to obtain them are unverified. Check the in-game recipe viewer for the xnetgases items before you plan a build. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does XNet Gases work?

5 parts

XNet Gases adds chemical handling to XNet-style logistics. The sources for this pack only cover the connector, sensor and channel settings, so this section is short. I'm leaving out anything the sources don't confirm.[2]

Connector modes

A connector works in extract mode or insert mode. In extract mode it pulls chemicals out of the connected block. In insert mode it pushes chemicals into the connected block.[2]

Transfer rates

Each connector has a chemical rate setting, and its tooltip shows the maximum in mb. That maximum is the most chemical a connector can input or output per operation, and it depends on the connector type.[2][3]

Both values match the mod defaults, so the pack hasn't changed them. If you edit the config, each option accepts anything from 1 to 1,000,000,000.[3]

Sensors

A sensor scans the amount of chemical in the connected block. The sources don't say how its readings are used, so check that in game.[2]

Channel distribution

The channel's distribution mode is either Priority or Roundrobin. The tooltip shows which one is currently selected.[2]

Min/max cutoffs

There is also a min/max option with the tooltip "Disable %s if chemical is too %s". It switches something off when the chemical amount goes out of range. The sources don't show the exact wording for the placeholders or how the thresholds are set.[2]

Unverified The exact thresholds, what the min/max option disables, and the full list of connector and sensor settings are not covered by the available sources. No recipes for this mod's items were available either.

Which XNet Gases config options matter?

1 part

XNet Gases keeps its config small. There are only two options here, and both control how much chemical a connector can move in a single operation. You'll find them in config/xnetgases.toml.[3]

  • general.maxChemicalRateNormal is the maximum chemical per operation that a normal connector can input or output. This pack sets it to 1,000, which is the same as the mod default. The allowed range is 1 to 1,000,000,000.[3]
  • general.maxChemicalRateAdvanced is the maximum chemical per operation that an advanced connector can input or output. This pack sets it to 5,000, which is also the same as the mod default. The allowed range is 1 to 1,000,000,000.[3]

Did the pack change anything?

No. Both values match the mod defaults, so what you see here is how the mod normally behaves. An advanced connector can move 5,000 chemical per operation, against 1,000 for a normal one.[3]

Tip: If you want faster chemical transfer on your own world, raising these values is the lever to pull. Both accept anything from 1 up to 1,000,000,000. Keep in mind that this would be a change from the pack's setup, not the pack's own behavior.[3]

What changed in XNet Gases between versions?

3 parts

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships XNet Gases 6.0.2. The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs.[1]

6.0.1 (2025-07-29)

  • Fixed the filter slot not accepting any items.[4]
  • Fixed transfer rate and minmax being set to 0.[4]
  • Changed the default transfer rate of advanced connectors. It used to be the normal connector value, and now it comes from the advanced connector value in the config file.[4]

6.0.0 (2024-12-02)

This was the initial port to 1.21. Its changelog is mostly a long list of commits, with a lot of dependency updates and cleanup.[4][5]

A few entries are worth knowing about. The round robin offset used to cause the same consumer to be processed constantly. That is fixed, and roundRobinIncrement was removed because it was no longer needed. There is also a fix for an XNet logic channel problem, and a new item comparison function.[5]

6.0.2

Unverified The pack uses XNet Gases 6.0.2, but no changelog for that version was available, so what changed from 6.0.1 is unverified.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as xnetgases, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
