How do you get started with Tool Belt?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Tool Belt adds the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch, and this pack changes the crafting recipe for both. If you remember the recipes from another pack or from the mod's defaults, check the ones below instead.[2]
Craft the Tool Belt first
Make the Tool Belt first, since it is the item the mod is named after. This is the pack's own recipe for it:[2]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | ||
| any iron ingot |
Recipe id: toolbelt:belt
The pack changed this recipe, so it may differ from the mod's default.
Then craft the Belt Pouch
Next, make the Belt Pouch. The pack changed this recipe as well, and the block below shows the exact version in use.[2]
Crafting Shaped
| any gold ingot | ||
| Empty slot | ||
Recipe id: toolbelt:pouch
Also changed by the pack.
Checking your upgrades
The mod's tooltip includes an Upgrades line that lists the upgrades and shows how many slots they provide. Look there when you want to see what a belt currently has.[3]
How does Tool Belt work?
4 parts
Tool Belt has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to worry about. In this pack its systems come down to two items, the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch, plus a handful of config switches that decide how they behave.[3][4]
Controls
The mod adds its own key bindings, grouped under a Tool Belt category in your controls screen. These are the names the mod gives them:[3]
The belt's tooltip reads "Upgrades: %s (%s slots)", so you can check which upgrades a belt has and how many slots it offers just by hovering over it.[3]
Crafting the belt and pouch
The pack has changed both crafting recipes from the mod's own. Here is what you will see in this pack:[4]
These are ordinary shaped crafting recipes. Whether they stay active depends on general.enableGridCraftingRecipes, which the pack leaves on AUTO. With AUTO, the belt and pouch crafting recipes are disabled if the Sewing Kit mod is present, and sewing recipes are used instead. general.enableSewingKitSupport is set to true in the pack. If you set it to false, sewing recipe support is off even when Sewing Kit is installed.[4][5]
Upgrading belts at an anvil is controlled by general.anvilUpgrading, set to AUTO in the pack. With AUTO, the crafting and upgrade recipes use the Sewing mechanics if Sewing Kit is present. Setting it to OFF disables anvil upgrading regardless.[5]
The belt slot
general.customBeltSlotMode is set to ON in the pack. The config file explains the other two options: AUTO disables the belt slot if Curios is present, and OFF disables the belt slot permanently.[5]
What can go in the belt
What you can put in the belt is decided by the server config. general.allowAllNonStackableItems is true in the pack. The file notes that when it is set to false, stackable items are no longer allowed by default.[6]
The pack fills general.blacklist with a long list of items that cannot be placed in the belt. Every entry in it comes from the simplyswords namespace, for example simplyswords:mjolnir and simplyswords:stars_edge. general.whitelist is empty in the pack. Anything on the whitelist is force-allowed and takes precedence over the blacklist, so it is the place to override an entry.[6]
How do you progress through Tool Belt?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Tool Belt has no long tier ladder in this pack. The sources show only the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch as craftable items. The pack has changed the recipes for both, so don't rely on the mod's defaults or on what you remember from other packs.[2]
Step 1: Craft the Tool Belt
The Tool Belt is the base item of the mod. The recipe below is the pack's own version, so follow it rather than any default you know.[2]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | ||
| any iron ingot |
Recipe id: toolbelt:belt
This is the pack's changed recipe for the Tool Belt.
Step 2: Craft the Belt Pouch
The Belt Pouch has a pack-changed recipe too, and it takes a different ingot from the belt's recipe. Check the recipe below before you gather materials.[2]
Crafting Shaped
| any gold ingot | ||
| Empty slot | ||
Recipe id: toolbelt:pouch
This is the pack's changed recipe for the Belt Pouch.
What the sources don't cover
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest that involves Tool Belt, so no quest-guided path for it is confirmed. They also do not say what the Belt Pouch does in this pack or whether it is an upgrade to the Tool Belt, so check those details in-game.
Which Tool Belt config options matter?
3 parts
Tool Belt splits its settings across a client, a common and a server config file. Here is how the pack sets the options you are most likely to touch. The only value the sources compare against a mod default is display.beltItemScale, and the pack leaves it unchanged.[5][6][7]
Radial menu and display (client)
- display.beltItemScale is 0.5, the same as the mod default. It accepts values from 0.1 to 2.0 and sets the size of items on the belt.[7]
- display.showBeltOnPlayers is true, so belts and tools are drawn on players. Set it to false to hide them.[7]
- menu.releaseToSwap is false. You need a click to confirm the swap. If you turn it on, releasing the menu key (R) activates the swap.[7]
- menu.displayEmptySlots is false. Turn it on to always show every slot in the radial menu, even empty ones, and to pick which empty slot to insert into.[7]
- menu.clipMouseToCircle is false. Turn it on and the menu tries to stop your mouse from leaving the outer circle.[7]
- menu.allowClickOutsideBounds is false. Turn it on to activate items by clicking outside the outer circle.[7]
Belt slot and sewing options (common)
- general.customBeltSlotMode is set to ON. The allowed values are OFF, AUTO and ON. The file's description only explains AUTO (the belt slot is disabled if Curios is present) and OFF (the belt slot is disabled permanently).[5]
- general.enableGridCraftingRecipes is AUTO. In that mode the belt and pouch crafting recipes are disabled if the Sewing Kit mod is present, and sewing recipes are used instead.[5]
- general.anvilUpgrading is AUTO. In that mode the crafting and upgrade recipes use the Sewing mechanics if the Sewing Kit mod is present. OFF disables anvil upgrading regardless.[5]
- general.enableSewingKitSupport is true. Setting it to false turns off sewing recipe support even if the mod is present.[5]
What can go on the belt (server)
general.allowAllNonStackableItems is true. The file notes that setting it to false stops stackable items from being allowed by default.[6]
The pack fills general.blacklist with a long list of simplyswords items that can't be placed in the belt, for example Mjolnir, Star's Edge and Livyatan. The general.whitelist is empty. It force-allows items and takes precedence over the blacklist, so adding an item there overrides the blacklist for that item.[6]
