What is Tool Belt?

This pack ships Tool Belt at version 2.2.7 (the ToolBelt-1.21.1-2.2.7.jar file). It has been in the pack since StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources available here do not describe what Tool Belt does in this pack, and no in-jar guidebook was found for it. Check the mod in-game to see how it behaves rather than relying on this page.

How do you get started with Tool Belt?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide

Tool Belt adds the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch, and this pack changes the crafting recipe for both. If you remember the recipes from another pack or from the mod's defaults, check the ones below instead.[2]

Craft the Tool Belt first

Make the Tool Belt first, since it is the item the mod is named after. This is the pack's own recipe for it:[2]

The pack changed this recipe, so it may differ from the mod's default.

Then craft the Belt Pouch

Next, make the Belt Pouch. The pack changed this recipe as well, and the block below shows the exact version in use.[2]

Checking your upgrades

The mod's tooltip includes an Upgrades line that lists the upgrades and shows how many slots they provide. Look there when you want to see what a belt currently has.[3]

How does Tool Belt work?

4 parts

The Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch are the items this mod's language file names. The sources don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power or fluids for it, so the mechanics here come down to the controls, the belt slot, what the belt accepts, and how it is crafted and upgraded.[3][4]

Controls

The mod adds these key bindings, grouped under the category "Tool Belt" in your controls menu. You can rebind them like any other key.[3]

  • Swap Tool[3]
  • Cycle Tool Left[3]
  • Cycle Tool Right[3]
  • Open Belt Slot Inventory[3]

The belt's tooltip reads "Upgrades: %s (%s slots)", so it lists the upgrades the belt has and how many slots it offers. The sources don't give the slot counts, so check the tooltip in game.[3]

The belt slot

In this pack general.customBeltSlotMode is set to ON. The option's own description says that AUTO disables the belt slot when Curios is present, and that OFF disables it permanently. ON is neither of those settings.[5]

What can go in the belt

Item filtering is set in the server config. general.allowAllNonStackableItems is true in this pack. Its description says that when it is set to false, stackable items are no longer allowed by default.[6]

Both general.blacklist and general.whitelist are empty here, so nothing is specially blocked or forced in. The blacklist disallows items from the belt, and the whitelist force-allows items and takes precedence over the blacklist.[6]

Tip: If an item won't go into your belt, the whitelist is the place to look. Anything on it is force-allowed, even if it is also on the blacklist.[6]

Crafting and upgrades

The pack changed both recipes, so they are not the mod defaults, and the recipe dump lists both as shaped crafting recipes. Here is the belt:[4]

Recipe id: toolbelt:belt

And here is the pouch:[4]

The common config has options that decide how crafting and upgrading behave. general.enableGridCraftingRecipes is AUTO, which means the grid recipes for the belt and pouch are disabled if the Sewing Kit mod is present and sewing recipes are used instead. general.anvilUpgrading is also AUTO, so crafting and upgrade recipes use the Sewing mechanics when Sewing Kit is present. Setting it to OFF disables anvil upgrading regardless. general.enableSewingKitSupport is true, and setting it to false would turn off sewing recipe support even if the mod is installed.[5]

How do you progress through Tool Belt?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide

Tool Belt has no long tier ladder in this pack. The sources show only the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch as craftable items. The pack has changed the recipes for both, so don't rely on the mod's defaults or on what you remember from other packs.[2]

Step 1: Craft the Tool Belt

The Tool Belt is the base item of the mod. The recipe below is the pack's own version, so follow it rather than any default you know.[2]

Step 2: Craft the Belt Pouch

The Belt Pouch has a pack-changed recipe too, and it takes a different ingot from the belt's recipe. Check the recipe below before you gather materials.[2]

What the sources don't cover

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest that involves Tool Belt, so no quest-guided path for it is confirmed. They also do not say what the Belt Pouch does in this pack or whether it is an upgrade to the Tool Belt, so check those details in-game.

Which Tool Belt config options matter?

3 parts

Tool Belt is configured through a client file, a common file and a server file in this pack. The client file covers visuals and the radial menu, the common file covers belt slot and crafting behavior, and the server file covers which items can go on the belt. Only one value is listed with a mod default, so the rest are shown here exactly as the pack sets them.[5][6][7]

Display and radial menu (client)

  • display.beltItemScale is 0.5 in this pack, the same as the mod default. It accepts values from 0.1 to 2.0 and changes the scale of items on the belt.[7]
  • display.showBeltOnPlayers is true. If you set it to false, belts and tools are not drawn on players.[7]
  • menu.releaseToSwap is false, so releasing the menu key (R) does not swap. You need a click to activate the swap. Set it to true if you'd rather release the key to swap.[7]
  • menu.displayEmptySlots is false. Set it to true and the radial menu always shows every slot, even empty ones, and lets you pick which empty slot to insert into.[7]
  • menu.clipMouseToCircle is false. When true, the menu tries to keep your mouse inside the outer circle.[7]
  • menu.allowClickOutsideBounds is false. When true, you can click outside the outer circle to activate items.[7]

Belt slot and crafting (common)

  • general.customBeltSlotMode is "ON" (allowed values are OFF, AUTO and ON). With AUTO the belt slot would be disabled if Curios is present, and OFF disables it permanently.[5]
  • general.enableGridCraftingRecipes is "AUTO". In AUTO, the belt and pouch crafting recipes are disabled if the Sewing Kit mod is present, and sewing recipes are used instead.[5]
  • general.anvilUpgrading is "AUTO". In AUTO, the crafting and upgrade recipes use the Sewing mechanics if the Sewing Kit mod is present. OFF disables anvil upgrading regardless.[5]
  • general.enableSewingKitSupport is true. Setting it to false turns off sewing recipe support even if the Sewing Kit mod is installed.[5]
