What is Simple Tombstone?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Simple Tombstone is part of the pack's mod list. The pack ships version 1.21.1-1.4.4 of the mod, in the file simpletomb-1.21.1-1.4.4.jar. It was already present in the pack by version 1.22.0.[1]
Unverified The sources I have only confirm that the mod is included and which version it is. They don't describe its mechanics, so I can't say from them how it behaves in this pack, such as what it does when you die, how graves are recovered, or whether any config values were changed. No recipes, configs or quests for the mod appear in the sources. The mod is also not confirmed to be on the ATM Star path, and no quests in this pack involve it.
How do you get started with Simple Tombstone?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Simple Tombstone deals with what happens when you die. The mod handles player death by placing a grave, and it can give you a Grave's Key on death. The key helps you find the grave again.[2]
What to know before your first death
- Items within a set radius are collected when a grave is spawned. There is also a separate radius for extra bonus items, and setting it to 0 turns that off.[2]
- The mod can give you a Grave's Key on death. The grave can be opened without the key, but the key helps you locate it. A separate setting controls whether a key is required to access graves at all.[2]
- The key can carry your display name in its item name. It can also be set to open the grave on use, even if you aren't standing on top of it.[2]
- Survival players within a set straight-line distance of their tomb can teleport to it. A distance of 0 disables the feature, and -1 allows it at any distance within the same dimension. Creative players can be allowed to teleport ignoring distance.[2]
- A decay timer in minutes sets when a grave stops needing its key. A value of -1 disables it.[2]
- The mod can send you a chat message every time a tomb is placed, and it can log where players' graves are. That helps if you forget where you died.[2]
Settings that change how harsh death is
The mod has options for losing some items on death, both as a chance and as a percentage of items. It also has a PvP mode that lets players open the graves of players they kill. It can spawn creatures after a grave is emptied, and it can use the Ghostly Shape effect. The values this pack uses for these are not shown in the sources here.[2]
Unverified The sources here show no recipes for this mod's items and no quests involving it in this pack, so there is no crafting order to follow. Check the quest book and the recipe viewer in game for anything beyond that. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Simple Tombstone work?
4 parts
Simple Tombstone is all about what happens when you die. The sources for this pack describe it through its config file: a tomb is placed for you, you can get a key to find it, and you can teleport back to it. Here is how each of those parts works in this pack.[3][4]
Placing the tomb
Death handling is switched on with simpletomb.tomb.enabled, and the pack leaves it at true. Setting it to false would disable almost the entire mod, so leave it alone unless you want that.[3][4]
Every time a tomb is placed, simpletomb.tomb.chat sends the player a chat message, and simpletomb.tomb.log writes an entry to the server log. The pack has both set to true.[3][4]
When the mod looks for a place to put the grave, simpletomb.tomb.search_range is the maximum range it checks and simpletomb.tomb.search_height is the maximum height. The pack sets them to 8 and 16, which are the mod defaults. Both accept values from 2 to 128.[3][4]
What goes into the grave
simpletomb.tomb.extra_items is the radius in which extra bonus items are hunted for and collected when a grave spawns. The pack uses 2, the same as the mod default. It accepts 0 to 16, and 0 turns the feature off.[3][4]
simpletomb.tomb.keep_parts controls whether parts of the inventory are kept. The allowed values are NONE, HOTBAR, ARMOR and HOTBAR_AND_ARMOR, and the pack uses NONE.[3][4]
The Grave Key
The Grave Key helps you find your grave. The tomb can be opened without it, but the key helps you locate the grave. simpletomb.key.given is true in the pack, so a key is given to you on death.[3][4]
- simpletomb.key.named is true, so your display name is added to the key's item name when a key is dropped.[3][4]
- simpletomb.key.openOnUse is true, so using the key opens the grave even if you are not standing on top of it.[3][4]
Teleporting to your tomb
A survival player within a certain straight line distance of the tomb can teleport to it. simpletomb.teleport.survival sets that distance. Zero (0) disables survival teleporting, and negative one (-1) allows it always, ignoring distance within the dimension.[3][4]
simpletomb.teleport.creative is true in the pack, so creative mode players can teleport to the tomb with the key and ignore distance.[3][4]
Which Simple Tombstone config options matter?
3 parts
Simple Tombstone only has a handful of options, and the pack's file marks just one of them as changed from the mod default. Everything lives in config/simpletomb.toml.[4]
The one value the pack changed
simpletomb.teleport.survival is set to 128 in this pack, while the mod default is 16. This is the straight-line distance within which a survival player can teleport to their tomb. A bigger number means you can zap back to your grave from much farther away.[4]
The allowed range is -1 to 128, so the pack sits at the top of the range. Setting it to 0 turns survival teleporting off completely. Setting it to -1 lets survival players teleport always, ignoring distance (within the same dimension).[4]
Grave key options
- simpletomb.key.given is true, so you get a Grave Key on death. The tomb can be opened without the key, but the key helps you locate the grave.[4]
- simpletomb.key.named is true, so your display name is added to the key's item name.[4]
- simpletomb.key.openOnUse is true, so the key opens the grave on use even if you are not standing on top of it.[4]
- simpletomb.teleport.creative is true, so creative players can teleport to the tomb with the key, ignoring distance.[4]
Tomb behaviour
- simpletomb.tomb.enabled is true. Setting it to false would disable almost the entire mod, so leave it alone unless you really want that.[4]
- simpletomb.tomb.keep_parts is "NONE", so no part of your inventory is kept. The other allowed values are HOTBAR, ARMOR and HOTBAR_AND_ARMOR.[4]
- simpletomb.tomb.extra_items is 2, the same as the mod default. It is the radius in which extra bonus items are collected when a grave spawns, and 0 disables it. The allowed range is 0 to 16.[4]
- simpletomb.tomb.search_range is 8 and simpletomb.tomb.search_height is 16. Both match the mod defaults and set how far the mod looks, horizontally and vertically, for a grave location. Each allows 2 to 128.[4]
- simpletomb.tomb.chat is true, so a chat message is sent every time a tomb is placed. simpletomb.tomb.log is also true, so each placement is written to the server log too.[4]
