How do you get started with Simple Teleporters?

Simple Teleporters keeps things small. There are two items to care about, the Ender Shard and the Teleporter, and you make them in that order.[1]
Step 1: Make an Ender Shard
The Ender Shard is the item you link to a location, and it's also an ingredient in the Teleporter, so it comes first. In this pack you get it from a smelting recipe, so you'll need a furnace-type setup rather than a crafting grid.[1]
