What is Farming for Blockheads?

Farming for Blockheads is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 21.1.10, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]

It isn't a late addition. The mod was already in the pack as of 1.0.0 or earlier, so it has been there from the start.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what the mod's features do, who it suits best, or where it fits in the pack's progression. I also couldn't confirm any pack-specific recipe or config changes for it, so check in-game before you rely on any of those. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Farming for Blockheads?

3 parts

Farming for Blockheads gives you fertilizers for your crops, plus a Feeding Trough and a Chicken Nest for your animals. All of them have crafting recipes in this pack, so you can start right away. This is the order I'd make things in.[2][3]

Fertilizers for your crops

Start with the fertilizers. Yellow Fertilizer is a good first one to look at, because its recipe is the mod's own and this pack has not changed it.[2]

This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.

Next comes Green Fertilizer, which increases crop output. This pack changed its recipe, so follow the one below and not the mod's default.[2][3]

Red Fertilizer is the last of the fertilizers, and its recipe is also changed by this pack.[2]

The mod also has Market recipes that produce each of these fertilizers, so crafting is not the only route to them.[2]

Feeding Trough for your animals

Once your crops are going, set up your animals. The Feeding Trough auto-feeds nearby animals that are ready to mate, which makes breeding a lot less hands-on.[2][3]

Chicken Nest for eggs

If you keep chickens, the Chicken Nest collects the eggs they lay, so you don't have to chase them around the pen.[2][3]

How does Farming for Blockheads work?

4 parts

Farming for Blockheads is built around a few simple helpers: a nest that collects eggs, a trough that feeds animals, fertilizers for your crops, and a Market with a merchant. Here is what the sources confirm about how each part works in this pack.[3]

Chicken Nest

The Chicken Nest collects eggs laid by chickens. The mod has a Chicken Nest Range option, which sets the range at which the nest picks up laid eggs.[3]

Feeding Trough

The Feeding Trough automatically feeds nearby animals that are ready to mate, so it is your breeding helper. Feeding Trough Range sets the range within which animals can be fed. Feeding Trough Max Animals sets the maximum number of animals per type until the trough stops feeding.[3]

Fertilizers and Fertilized Farmland

Green Fertilizer increases crop output, and the mod has an option for its bonus crop chance. Red Fertilizer has its own option for the chance of a bonus growth.[3]

Fertilized Farmland exists as several block variants (healthy, rich and stable, plus combinations of them). It doesn't last forever: a Fertilizer Regression Chance option sets the chance, per provided bonus, that Fertilized Farmland turns back into regular Farmland.[3]

The pack has changed the crafting recipes for Green Fertilizer and Red Fertilizer, so don't rely on the mod's defaults for those. All the fertilizer crafting recipes below make 4 fertilizers per craft. The crafting recipe for Yellow Fertilizer is the mod's own.[2]

Market and Merchant

The Market is a block with its own screen, which shows a cost for the entry you select and a "No Selection" state until you pick one. A Merchant entity is part of the mod too. The mod has options for the list of names a merchant can have, and for treating merchants like babies on a technical level only, which may resolve exploits based on merchant death loot.[3]

The Market has its own recipe type, and Green, Red and Yellow Fertilizer each have a Market entry in the pack.[2]

Unverified The pack's actual values for the nest range, trough range, trough animal limit and the fertilizer chances are not shown in the sources here, because no config files for this mod are available. These would be set in the mod's config, which the sources here do not show.

How do you progress through Farming for Blockheads?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide

This page sticks to what the pack's recipes show: what you can craft for Farming for Blockheads, and which of those recipes the pack changed.[4]

Animal setup: Chicken Nest and Feeding Trough

The Chicken Nest and the Feeding Trough both use the mod's own recipes. The pack leaves them unchanged, so what you see below is the stock mod recipe.[4]

The pack changed the crafting recipes for Green Fertilizer and Red Fertilizer, so don't rely on what you remember from the base mod. The recipes below are the ones that apply here.[4]

Market recipes

Each fertilizer also has a market recipe, and these are the mod's own, not changed by the pack. The recipe data lists no item inputs for them.[4]
