What is RSInfinityBooster?

2 parts

RSInfinityBooster is a small add-on for Refined Storage. It adds two items: the Infinite Range Card and the Dimension Card. This pack ships version 1.21.1-1.0.0.48 of the mod.[1][2]

What the two items do

Where the quest book puts it

Both quests are in the "General Storage" chapter. It sits in the "Resources & Logistics" group and is chapter 7 of 31 in the book. The chapter has 146 quests and covers storage options such as backpacks, drawers and Ender Storage.[3]

The quest "Infinity Range Booster" quest comes right after the "Range Upgrade" quest, and it asks you for the Infinity Range Booster item. Right after it comes "Dimension Card" quest, which asks for the Dimension Card. So the book walks you through them in that order: same-dimension range first, then cross-dimension access.[3]

The chapter has 123 more quests that I can't show here, so check the quest book itself to see what follows these two.[3]

How do you get started with RSInfinityBooster?

3 parts

This mod adds two items to your Refined Storage network: the Infinity Range Booster and the Dimension Card. Both boost the range of the wireless transmitter, so you can reach your storage from far away. You make them in that order, so here is the path.[1][4]

Step 1: the Infinity Range Booster

Start with the Infinity Range Booster. Its tooltip says it increases the range of the wireless transmitter by infinite blocks, and its quest says it gives you access to your network anywhere within the same dimension.[3][4]

In the quest book, "Infinity Range Booster" quest sits in the General Storage chapter (group Resources & Logistics), right after the Range Upgrade quest. So work through that quest first, then come back to the booster.[3]

This is the in-pack recipe for the Infinity Range Booster.

Step 2: the Dimension Card

Once you have the booster, the next step is the Dimension Card. Its tooltip says it increases the wireless transmitter range by infinite blocks and lets you access the network from any dimension. In the quest book, "Dimension Card" quest comes straight after the booster quest, and it describes the cross-dimension access as coming at a hefty energy cost.[3][4]

This is the in-pack recipe for the Dimension Card.

Mind the energy cost

This pack changed the energy values for both cards in the server config. infinityCard.energyUsage is 4,200 here (the mod default is 4,000), and dimensionCard.energyUsage is 9,001 (the mod default is 8,000).[6]

Tip: If you only ever work in one dimension, the Infinity Range Booster is enough, since it already covers your network anywhere in the same dimension. It also has the lower energy usage setting in this pack (4,200 against 9,001), so save the Dimension Card for when you need to reach your network across dimensions.[3][6]

How does RSInfinityBooster work?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

RSInfinityBooster is a small add-on for Refined Storage. It adds two cards that boost the range of the wireless transmitter: Infinity Range Booster and Dimension Card. There are no machines or multiblocks to build. All the mod's mechanics come down to these two items, how much energy they need, and how you craft them.[1][7][8][9]

What each card does

Energy use

Both cards need energy to run, and the pack raised both values above the mod defaults. The Infinity Range Booster uses 4,200 in the pack, up from the mod default of 4,000. You can change it with infinityCard.energyUsage.[8][9]

The Dimension Card uses 9,001 in the pack, up from the mod default of 8,000. Its option is dimensionCard.energyUsage. Both options must be greater than 0.[8]

Tip: The Dimension Card costs more than twice as much energy as the Infinity Card in the pack. If you only work within one dimension, the Infinity Card is the cheaper option, since it also adds ∞ blocks of range.[7][8]

Crafting the cards

The pack changed the Infinity Range Booster recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default. Here is the in-pack recipe:[9]

The Dimension Card recipe is the mod's own, not changed by the pack. It uses the Infinity Range Booster as an ingredient, so you have to craft that card first.[9]

How do you progress through RSInfinityBooster?

3 parts

RSInfinityBooster adds two items that take your Refined Storage 2 wireless range further than the Range Upgrade can. The Infinity Range Booster covers your whole dimension, and the Dimension Card goes one step beyond that. The progression is short, and the pack's quest book walks you through it.[3]

Where it sits in the quest book

Both items are in the General Storage chapter, in the Resources & Logistics group (chapter 7 of 31 in the book). They sit at the end of the Refined Storage 2 branch. That branch starts with "But where's the Sky Stone?" quest, then "Welcome to Refined Storage 2" quest, then "Upgrade Base" quest. After that come "Range Upgrade" quest, "Infinity Range Booster" quest and finally "Dimension Card" quest.[3]

Step by step

  1. Get Sky Steel Ingots. The Refined Storage 2 welcome quest says you need them before crafting your first Machine Core, and the Sky Stone quest before it explains where to find Sky Stone.[3]
  2. Craft the Upgrade Base, which the quest book uses as the starting point for the Refined Storage 2 upgrades.[3]
  3. Make a Range Upgrade. Its quest says it extends the Wireless Transmitter from 16 up to 48 blocks.[3]
  4. Craft the Infinity Range Booster, the next quest after the Range Upgrade.[3][5]
  5. Craft the Dimension Card, the last quest in the line.[3][5]

The tiers

Think of it as three stages. With the Range Upgrade alone you are limited to the Wireless Transmitter's reach. The "Wireless Transmitter" quest quest gives a default of 16 blocks, extendable to 48 with up to 4 Range Upgrades.[3]

The Infinity Range Booster grants you access to your network anywhere within the same dimension. Here is its in-pack recipe:[3]

The Dimension Card grants access to your network across dimensions, at a hefty energy cost. The quest doesn't give a figure for that cost, so check the item in game before you rely on it. Here is its recipe:[3]

Tip: The pack also offers another route across dimensions. In the Wireless Networks quest, you bind a Network Card to a Network Receiver, then put the card in a Network Transmitter connected to your main network. The quest says to make sure your main system is chunkloaded.[3]

How does RSInfinityBooster work with other mods?

2 parts

RSInfinityBooster is an add-on for Refined Storage: it adds the Infinity Range Booster and the Dimension Card to it. Its connection to other mods in this pack is small, and it all comes through one recipe and two quests.[1][3]

The crafting recipe

The Infinity Range Booster is crafted from a mix of vanilla items and a Refined Storage item. The vanilla side is Ender Eye, Nether Star and Netherite Ingot, and the Refined Storage side is the Range Upgrade. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[5]

Because it needs a Nether Star and a Netherite Ingot, this is a late-game upgrade.[5]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest book places both cards in the "General Storage" chapter, which is in the "Resources & Logistics" group (chapter 7 of 31). The quest "Infinity Range Booster" quest comes right after the Range Upgrade quest, and "Dimension Card" quest comes after that.[3]

  • The Infinity Range Booster gives you access to your network anywhere within the same dimension.[3]
  • The Dimension Card gives you access to your network across dimensions, at a hefty energy cost.[3]

The chapter has 146 quests, but only a handful are available to me here. The rest are in the quest book, so check it for anything else that touches these cards.[3]

Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use RSInfinityBooster?

2 parts

This mod only shows up in one chapter of the quest book: General Storage. It sits in the group "Resources & Logistics" as chapter 7 of 31, and the chapter has 146 quests. Two of them are about this mod, and they come one after the other.[3]

The two quests

  1. "Infinity Range Booster" quest asks you to get the Infinity Range Booster. The quest says it gives you access to your network anywhere within the same dimension.[3]
  2. "Dimension Card" quest comes right after and asks for the Dimension Card. The quest says it gives you access to your network across dimensions, at a hefty energy cost.[3]

What comes before

"Infinity Range Booster" quest unlocks after "Range Upgrade" quest, which is part of the Refined Storage 2 line of this chapter. That line starts with "But where's the Sky Stone?" quest and leads to "Welcome to Refined Storage 2" quest. From there you go to "Upgrade Base" quest, the Refined Storage 2 version of Upgrade Base, and then to the Range Upgrade.[3]

The Range Upgrade quest explains that the upgrade extends the range of the Wireless Transmitter from 16 up to 48 blocks. The Infinity Range Booster is the next step up from that, because it removes the range limit inside a dimension.[3]

Tip: If you only need to reach your network from another dimension, the Refined Storage 2 line also has "Wireless Networks" quest. That quest uses a Network Card, a Network Transmitter and a Network Receiver, and says to make sure your main system is chunkloaded.[3]

13 of the 146 quests in General Storage are not covered here. Check the quest book in the game for those.[3]

Which RSInfinityBooster config options matter?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

RSInfinityBooster adds the Infinite Range Card and the Dimension Card to Refined Storage. This pack only changes two options in the server config, and both are about how much energy those cards need to run. Here's exactly what the pack sets.[1][8]

Energy usage

  • dimensionCard.energyUsage is set to 9,001 in this pack. The mod default is 8,000, so the pack raises it. This is the energy needed to run the Dimension Card, and the value must be greater than 0.[8]
  • infinityCard.energyUsage is set to 4,200 in this pack. The mod default is 4,000, so the pack raises this one too. This is the energy needed to run the Infinity Card, and the value must be greater than 0.[8]
Tip: Both values are higher than the mod defaults, so if you're planning your Refined Storage power budget, use the pack's numbers (9,001 and 4,200) rather than numbers from the mod's own page or other guides.[8]

I couldn't confirm any other config options for this mod from the pack files I was given, so I'm not listing any others.[8]

What changed in RSInfinityBooster between versions?

There isn't much version history to tell for this one. FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships RSInfinityBooster 1.21.1-1.0.0.48, using the NeoForge jar rsinfinitybooster-neoforge-1.21.1-1.0.0.48.jar.[2]

The mod was already in the pack by Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so it has been part of the modpack for most of its life.[2]

The mod's own changelog for this version doesn't list any entries. It only says the changelog is kept on the project's GitHub page, so check there if you want the full release notes.[10]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so any change to its behaviour, recipes or values between pack releases is unconfirmed.
