What is Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal?
1 part
Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal is in the pack at version 1.0.8. It has been part of the pack since 1.0.3 or earlier. The one item of it that the pack's quest book shows is the Wireless Crafting Grid.[1][2]
Where it sits in the quest book
The quest book places the mod in the "General Storage" chapter. That is chapter 7 of 31, in the "Resources & Logistics" group, and the chapter has 146 quests. It opens with "General Storage Options" quest, which says the chapter covers most of the basic ways to store your items.[2]
The mod appears in the quest "Wireless Grids" quest. That quest asks for three items: the Refined Storage wireless grid, the Refined Storage wireless autocrafting monitor, and the Quartz Arsenal Wireless Crafting Grid. It comes after the Wireless Transmitter quest, so you set up the transmitter first.[2]
The quest text says Wireless Grids give you remote access to your storage network while you are within range of the Wireless Transmitter. It also says each Wireless Grid provides the same functionality as its corresponding Grid.[2]
How do you get started with Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal?
2 parts
The only item this mod adds that you will build in this pack is the Wireless Crafting Grid. It plugs into a Refined Storage 2 network, so your first steps are really about getting that network started.[2][3][4]
Step by step
- Get some Sky Stone. The quest "But where's the Sky Stone?" quest lists the ways: trading with the Fluix Researcher villager, buying from a friendly Wandering Trader, smelting sky stone dust, or mining it from floating structures.[2]
- Read "Welcome to Refined Storage 2" quest. It asks for Quartz Enriched Iron, Sky Steel Ingot and Machine Casing, and it says you need Sky Steel Ingots before you craft your first Machine Core.[2]
- Build a Controller, as in "Controller" quest. It is the main device that powers your RS2 network, and you can place Controllers anywhere on the network.[2]
- Set up a Wireless Transmitter. The quest "Wireless Grids" quest comes right after the Wireless Transmitter quest in the book, and wireless grids give remote access to your network when you are within range of the transmitter.[2]
- Craft the Wireless Crafting Grid with the recipe below. It is one of the three items that the Wireless Grids quest asks for.[2][3]

This is the in-pack shaped crafting recipe for the Wireless Crafting Grid.
The mod also has a keybind called Open Wireless Crafting Grid. Its language file lists a Creative Wireless Crafting Grid as well.[4]
Where this sits in the quest book
These quests are in the General Storage chapter, which is chapter 7 of 31 in the group Resources & Logistics. The chapter has 146 quests, and the Sky Stone quest leads into the Welcome to Refined Storage 2 quest. Many of the other quests shown here cover backpacks, drawers and other storage mods. Most of the quest texts did not fit here, so check the quest book for the rest.[2]
Unverified The mod has options for the Wireless Crafting Grid's energy capacity and for the energy used to open it, craft, autocraft, clear the grid and transfer recipes. These are set in the mod's own configuration, and the sources here do not show the values this pack uses.
How does Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal work?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The sources for this mod only cover one thing: the Wireless Crafting Grid. It has no machines or multiblocks in what I can confirm, so this section is short and sticks to what the pack's data shows.[5][6]
Wireless Crafting Grid
The Wireless Crafting Grid is a portable crafting grid that runs on energy. The mod also adds a Creative Wireless Crafting Grid, and a keybind called "Open Wireless Crafting Grid" so you can open it without going through the item itself.[5]
In this pack it is crafted with a shaped recipe, shown below.[6]

Energy use
The grid has its own energy capacity, and it spends energy on several actions. The mod has a separate energy cost setting for each of these:[5]
- Opening the grid.[5]
- Crafting an item in the grid.[5]
- Autocrafting a resource with the grid.[5]
- Clearing the crafting matrix.[5]
- Transferring a recipe into the grid.[5]
Unverified The actual energy capacity and the energy cost of each action in this pack are not given in the available sources, so they are unconfirmed. How the grid is recharged is also unconfirmed.
How do you progress through Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal?
4 parts
The recipe sources for Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal show a single recipe in this pack, for the Wireless Crafting Grid. So the useful question is where it sits in the Refined Storage 2 questline. Wireless Grids reach your network only when you are within range of a Wireless Transmitter, so you need a working network first.[2][3]
Where it sits in the quest book
The Wireless Crafting Grid is one of the tasks in the "Wireless Grids" quest quest. That quest is in the "General Storage" chapter, in the "Resources & Logistics" group (chapter 7 of 31 in the book). It unlocks after "Wireless Transmitter" quest. The quest says each Wireless Grid gives you the same functionality as its corresponding Grid, and it also asks for the Wireless Grid and the Wireless Autocrafting Monitor.[2]
The path to get there
- Start with "But where's the Sky Stone?" quest, which covers where Sky Stone comes from: villager trades, a Wandering Trader, smelting sky stone dust, or mining floating structures.[2]
- Do "Welcome to Refined Storage 2" quest. It tells you that you need Sky Steel Ingots before you can craft your first Machine Core, which is used for many network components.[2]
- Place a Controller ("Controller" quest). It is the main device that provides energy to your RS2 network, and you can have Controllers anywhere on the network.[2]
- Build storage with the "Disk Drive" quest quest, which comes after the Controller.[2]
- Set up Grids with "Grids" quest. The standard Grid lets you view, remove and insert resources, and the Crafting Grid adds a crafting table on top.[2]
- Finish "Wireless Transmitter" quest. Wireless Grids only reach your network when you are within its range.[2]
- Finally, craft the Wireless Crafting Grid for "Wireless Grids" quest.[2]

Range is the real upgrade path
The Wireless Transmitter has a default range of 16 blocks. You can extend it up to 48 blocks with up to 4 Range Upgrades. The "Range Upgrade" quest quest describes the same 16 to 48 block range.[2]
If you want more reach after that, the quest book continues with "Infinity Range Booster" quest, which gives you access to your network anywhere within the same dimension. After it comes "Dimension Card" quest, which works across dimensions at a hefty energy cost.[2]
How does Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal work with other mods?
1 part
Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal is an add-on, so its main link in this pack is to base Refined Storage. The one recipe that connects it to other mods is the Wireless Crafting Grid, which is crafted partly from base Refined Storage items. The recipe dump lists it as a mod recipe, so nothing shows the pack changing it.[3]

This is the in-pack recipe, and the dump lists it as a mod recipe rather than a pack change.
In the quest book
The "Wireless Grids" quest quest asks for the Refined Storage Wireless Grid, the Wireless Autocrafting Monitor and the Wireless Crafting Grid. So the pack's book treats the Quartz Arsenal grid as one of the Refined Storage wireless options.[2]
It sits in the "General Storage" chapter, in the "Resources & Logistics" group (chapter 7 of 31), and comes after the Wireless Transmitter quest. The quest says Wireless Grids give remote access to your storage network when you are within range of the Wireless Transmitter, and that each one offers the same functionality as its matching Grid.[2]
That chapter has 146 quests and the text of most of them isn't included here, so check the quest book itself for the rest of the storage-related quests.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Refined Storage - Quartz Arsenal?
3 parts
In the quest sources for this pack, one quest asks for an item from this mod. It sits in the "General Storage" chapter, which is in the "Resources & Logistics" group and is chapter 7 of 31 in the book. The chapter has 146 quests and covers storage of all kinds, not just Refined Storage.[2]
The quest that uses this mod
The quest is "Wireless Grids" quest. It asks for three items: a Wireless Grid, a Wireless Autocrafting Monitor and the Wireless Crafting Grid. The quest text says Wireless Grids give remote access to your storage network when you are within range of the Wireless Transmitter, and that each Wireless Grid has the same functionality as its matching Grid.[2]
The path to get there
The quest book places this quest at the end of a Refined Storage 2 line that begins at the sky stone quest. Here is the order, one quest after another:[2]
- "But where's the Sky Stone?" quest asks for Sky Dust and a Sky Stone block.[2]
- "Welcome to Refined Storage 2" quest introduces Refined Storage 2 and asks for Quartz Enriched Iron, a Sky Steel Ingot and a Machine Casing. You need Sky Steel Ingots before you can craft your first Machine Core.[2]
- "Controller" quest is the main device that provides energy to your network. Unlike AE2 Controllers, you can have these anywhere on your network.[2]
- "Disk Drive" quest asks for the Disk Drive and the Storage Housing.[2]
- "Grids" quest asks for the Grid and the Crafting Grid.[2]
- "Wireless Transmitter" quest asks for the Wireless Transmitter. Its default range is 16 blocks, and with up to 4 Range Upgrades it can reach 48.[2]
- "Wireless Grids" quest is where the Wireless Crafting Grid comes in.[2]
Good to know
The Range Upgrade has its own quest, "Range Upgrade" quest, which comes after the Refined Storage Upgrade Base quest. It leads on to "Infinity Range Booster" quest and then "Dimension Card" quest for longer-range access. These follow the Range Upgrade in the book, not Wireless Grids.[2]
13 of the 146 quests in "General Storage" are not covered here, so check the quest book itself for their text.[2]
