What is Apothic Tooltip Cleanup?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Apothic Tooltip Cleanup is a client-side Forge 1.20.1 mod that tidies the affix and gem tooltips Apotheosis adds to weapons, armor and raw gems. The pack includes version 1.3.0.[1][2]

It needs Apotheosis to do anything, and it also supports Apotheotic Additions and Apothic Attributes. Everything it does is about what the tooltip shows, and every feature can be turned off.[1]

What it cleans up

  • Affix lists can be cut down to the top few entries, and holding Alt expands them. The mod's own default is to show the first 3.[1]
  • Raw gem tooltips have four modes: full, compact, ultra and hidden. Compact is the mod's default.[1]
  • Empty sockets on socketed items merge into one summary line, while filled gems still show normally.[1]
  • The bonus durability line, the affix summary block (Cold, Fire, HP%, Spell Resistance), and the cooldown and [Stacking] tags can be hidden until you hold Alt, or removed entirely.[1]
  • Affix lines can be sorted by rarity, alphabetical order or type. Individual affixes can be hidden, and affix prefixes can be stripped from item names.[1]
Tip: Per the mod's own documentation, its settings live in config/apothic_tooltip_cleanup-client.toml, and the file regenerates from defaults if you delete it. The defaults mentioned on this page are the mod's own, not confirmed pack values.[1]

How do you get started with Apothic Tooltip Cleanup?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

This one is a quality-of-life mod, so there is nothing to build first. Apothic Tooltip Cleanup is a client-side mod that tidies the affix and gem tooltips Apotheosis adds to weapons, armor and raw gems. It works with Apotheosis, Apotheotic Additions and Apothic Attributes out of the box.[1]

Your first steps are about knowing what the cleaned-up tooltips are hiding and how to reveal it. The behaviour below is what the mod's own project page describes as its defaults.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Hover over a weapon or armor piece with Apotheosis affixes. The mod's default is to show only the first 3 affixes, and holding Alt expands the full list.[1]
  2. Hold Alt on durable items too. By default the bonus durability line is hidden until Alt is held, and a "Hold Alt for full details" prompt appears so you know something is tucked away.[1]
  3. Check a raw gem. By default the mod uses its compact gem mode, which strips headers and the Unique tag, keeps the bullets, and removes the "level to existing" wording.[1]
  4. Look at a socketed item. Empty sockets are merged into one summary line, and on mixed sockets the filled gems still render with the empty count shown below.[1]

What else gets tidied

By default the Apotheosis summary block (Cold, Fire, HP%, Spell Resistance lines) and the cooldown markers and [Stacking] tags on affix lines are hidden until you hold Alt. The affix source line is always hidden, and the mod has no option to bring it back.[1]

Tip: If a tooltip line seems to be missing, hold Alt before assuming something is broken. Most of the mod's hide features have three modes: show keeps the content visible, alt hides it until you hold Alt, and delete hides it permanently with no Alt reveal.[1]

The mod can also sort affix lines, strip prefixes from affix names and hide individual affixes. Its project page says everything is configurable and every feature can be turned off.[1]

How does Apothic Tooltip Cleanup work?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

This one is different from most mods on the wiki. Apothic Tooltip Cleanup is a client-side mod that only changes how Apotheosis affix and gem tooltips look. The sources describe no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation for it, so there is nothing to build or wire up. Everything it does comes down to a few display settings.[1]

It needs Apotheosis 7.x and does nothing without it. Apotheotic Additions and Apothic Attributes are supported as optional extras. All settings live in features.affix_display_mode's file, config/apothic_tooltip_cleanup-client.toml, and the file regenerates from defaults if you delete it.[1]

The three-mode toggle

Most hide features use the same three modes. show keeps the content visible. alt hides it until you hold Alt. delete hides it permanently, and Alt does nothing for it.[1][3]

Whenever a handler hides something, a "Hold Alt for full details" prompt can appear. With the durability line set to alt, the prompt shows on durable items even when no affixes were truncated, and pressing Alt reveals that line.[1]

Affix lists

features.affix_display_mode decides how many affixes show. all shows every affix, top_n shows the first few and puts the rest under Alt, and alt_only hides every affix unless Alt is held. The mod's default is top_n, but this pack sets it to all, so you see every affix without holding anything.[1][3]

features.affix_visible_count is the N for top_n mode. It is set to 3 here, which matches the mod default, and accepts values from 0 to 99. It only matters if you switch the display mode to top_n.[1][3]

features.affix_sort_order is set to default in this pack. The pack's config comment lists only default and alphabetical, while the mod's project page also lists rarity and type.[1][3]

Unverified Whether the rarity and type sort orders work in this pack's version of the mod is not confirmed by the pack's config file.

features.hidden_affix_ids takes a list of translation key prefixes for affixes you want hidden entirely. It is empty in this pack, so no affix is hidden this way.[1][3]

features.affix_prefixes_mode controls the prefix and suffix Apotheosis adds to the item name, like "Strengthened" or "of the Inferno". In this pack it is show, so you get the full affixed name. alt would show the base item name until you hold Alt, and delete would always show the base name.[1][3]

Affix tooltip lines

These settings each target one kind of line. The pack's values are below.[3]

Tip: The affix source line is always hidden, and there is no config option to bring it back.[1]

Gem tooltips

features.gem_tooltip_mode controls raw gem tooltips and has four modes. full is the original Apotheosis layout. compact keeps the category and bonus bullets and drops the Unique tag. ultra uses one line for categories and one for bonuses. hidden removes all gem info. This pack uses compact.[1][3]

features.hidden_gem_categories trims the "Fits In" lists. It is case-insensitive and accepts either the id form (such as chestplate) or the rendered name form (such as Chestplates). If every category is hidden, the "Fits In:" header is dropped too. It does nothing in hidden mode, and it is empty in this pack.[1][3]

Sockets

features.merge_empty_sockets is on in this pack. When all sockets are empty, one summary line replaces the empty rows. With mixed sockets, filled gems still render normally and the empty count is added below.[1][3]

Watch out: Leave features.hide_apoth_marker off (the pack's setting) unless a marker literal is visibly leaking into tooltips. Turning it on can hide the socket UI on socketed items.[1][3]

Unverified The two sources give the marker's literal text differently (one says APOTH_SOCKET_MARKER, the other APOTH_REMOVE_MARKER), so which one you would see is unconfirmed.

Which Apothic Tooltip Cleanup config options matter?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Everything for this mod lives in config/apothic_tooltip_cleanup-client.toml. It's a client-side mod, so these settings only change what your own tooltips look like. If you delete the file, it regenerates from the mod's defaults. Most of the hide options use the same three modes: show keeps the content visible, alt hides it until you hold Alt, and delete hides it for good with no Alt reveal.[1][3]

Affix display

This is the biggest change from the mod's defaults. The pack sets features.affix_display_mode to "all", so every affix shows on a tooltip. The mod's own default is top_n, which shows only the first few affixes and puts the rest behind Alt.[1][3]

Because the pack uses "all", features.affix_visible_count has no effect unless you switch to top_n. It's set to 3 here, the same as the mod default, and accepts values from 0 to 99.[3]

What the pack hides behind Alt

These extra tooltip lines are set to alt in this pack. You only see them while holding Alt:[3]

Other options are left on show. features.affix_prefixes_mode keeps the full affixed item name, such as Strengthened or of the Inferno. features.potion_descriptions_mode keeps potion-style affix descriptions visible.[3]

Gems and sockets

Watch out: Leave features.hide_apoth_marker off, as the pack has it. It's only meant for when the APOTH_SOCKET_MARKER text leaks into a tooltip, and turning it on can hide the socket UI on socketed items.[3]

What changed in Apothic Tooltip Cleanup between versions?

3 parts

FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Apothic Tooltip Cleanup 1.3.0 (apothic_tooltip_cleanup-1.3.0.jar). The mod has been in the pack since Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so you've had it for a long time.[4]

1.3.0 (the version in this pack)

This is the release you're running. It mostly polishes how socketed gems show up in your tooltips and fixes a few bugs with affix lines.[4][5]

Changes

  • The "When Socketed in:" header is now kept in compact gem mode.[5]
  • Compact gem mode now preserves the original bonus colors, instead of the colors always being gold.[5]
  • In ultra mode, "When Socketed in:" now appears inline on the bonus bullet.[5]
  • The affix sort options are reduced to alphabetical and default.[5]
  • A warning is now logged when the socket compactor cannot read Apotheosis internals.[5]

Fixes

  • Cooldown and stacking markers now hide properly on nested gem bonuses like bloody arrow, treasure goblin, fortification and leech block.[5]
  • Several bullet-handling features (marker hide, sort and top_n truncation) used to skip affix lines that used the star prefix in Apotheosis 8.x. That is fixed.[5]
Tip: If you ever notice a gem tooltip that looks different from what you remember, the compact and ultra mode changes in 1.3.0 are the first place to look.[5]
