What is XTones Reworked?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

The pack ships XTones Reworked in version 1.1.1-1.21.1 (file xtonesreworked-1.1.1-1.21.1.jar). It has been part of the pack since version 0.62 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified What XTones Reworked adds in detail is not confirmed by the sources available for this guide, so this section doesn't describe its features, items or recipes.

How do you get started with XTones Reworked?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

XTones Reworked is a decorative block mod, so there is nothing to grind through here. Everything starts from one crafting item, and the order below gets you from that to a full palette of blocks.[2]

Step 1: make Xtone Tile

Xtone Tile is the base of nearly everything in the mod. One craft gives you 8 of them, so you will not run short.[2]

Step 2: craft your first base blocks

Each base block pairs Xtone Tile with one other material and gives you 8 blocks per craft. Agon is a good first one, because it is the starting point for a whole colour family.[2]

The same pattern gives you other families, such as Bitt, Cray, Fort, Glaxx and ISZM. The recipe viewer shows each one, so pick whichever material you have to hand.[2]

Step 3: dye your blocks into variants

Once you have a base block, you do not need more Xtone Tile to get colours. Combine a dye with any block from the same family and you get 8 of the matching variant. For Agon, that gives variants 1 to 15, one per dye colour, such as Agon Variant 1.[2]

Azur works a little differently. Azur is crafted from Xtone Tile and a dye.[2]

Step 4: use the stonecutter for Azur and Jelt

The Azur and Jelt families can also be switched between variants in a stonecutter. Put in any block of the family and pick the variant you want, for example Azur Variant 1 or Jelt Variant 1. In total the pack has 256 stonecutting recipes for this mod, so it is the quickest way to reshuffle a build.[2]

Step 5: add lighting

Flat Lamp is the mod's light source, and it gives you 2 per craft. This is one of the few recipes the pack has changed from the mod's own version, so trust the recipe below rather than anything you remember from the mod elsewhere.[2]

Tip: Some blocks have a second recipe, marked as alternate or alternative in the recipe viewer. For example, Agon can also be made from a white dye and any Agon block. Check the viewer for the version that fits what you are carrying.[2]

How does XTones Reworked work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

The sources for XTones Reworked in this pack show decorative blocks and how you craft them. They describe no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item handling, so the mechanics that matter here are getting a base block and recoloring it into variants. The language file lists families such as Agon, Azur, Bitt, Cray, Fort, Glaxx, Jelt, Korp, Kryp, Lair and Lave, plus a Flat Lamp.[3][4]

Getting a base block

Everything starts from the Xtone Tile. In the recipe dump, the base blocks of Agon, Bitt and Azur are each crafted with a tile plus one other ingredient. The recipe blocks below show exactly what each one needs.[4]

Recoloring into variants

Once you have a block from a family, you switch to another variant by crafting it with a dye. The variant recipes accept any block from the family's tag, so you don't need one specific variant to start from. Agon and Bitt also have an alternate recipe built the same way, with a dye and any block of their family.[4]

Example of a variant recipe: Agon Variant 5 uses a dye plus any Agon block.

Agon and Bitt each have variants 1 to 15 besides the base block, and every one of them has its own recipe in the dump. The language file also names Azur Variants 1 to 15.[3][4]

Watch out: The recipe dump lists the same dye for some Bitt variants: Bitt Variant 6 and Variant 7 both use light blue, and Variant 10 and Variant 11 both use pink. If you're hunting for a specific Bitt shade, check the recipe viewer to see what each one gives you.[4]

Breaking and collecting

The loot tables shown for Agon, Azur and Bitt blocks are simple: each block drops itself, with one roll and nothing else in the pool. So you get the exact variant back when you break it.[5][6][7][8][9][10]

How do you progress through XTones Reworked?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

XTones Reworked has no machine ladder or tier chain in this pack's recipes. What the sources show is a set of block families, and each one starts from Xtone Tile and a crafting table recipe of its own.[4]

The starter blocks

Each family has a base block: Agon, Bitt, Cray, Fort, Glaxx and ISZM all use the Xtone Tile in their starter recipe. Azur is the odd one out, because its starter recipe is built differently.[4]

Colour variants

Once you have a family's base block, the variants come from dye recipes that accept any block from that family. Agon, for example, has variants 1 to 15, and each one uses a different dye colour. Other families follow the same idea, though some reuse a dye for more than one variant: Bitt Variants 10 and 11 both use pink dye.[4]

Yellow dye on any Agon block gives Agon Variant 1.

Families also have an alternate recipe that turns a dye plus any block of the family back into the base block. Agon uses white dye for this and Fort uses gray dye.[4]

Tip: Variant recipes take any block from the same family, so you can re-dye blocks you already have instead of starting over from the tile.[4]

Flat Lamp: the pack-changed recipe

The recipe for the Flat Lamp is marked as changed by the pack. Use the recipe below, not one you remember from the mod on its own.[4]

Drops

In the loot tables available here, such as Agon and Azur, each block simply drops itself.[5][7]
