What is XTones Reworked?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

The pack ships XTones Reworked in version 1.1.1-1.21.1 (file xtonesreworked-1.1.1-1.21.1.jar). It has been part of the pack since version 0.62 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified What XTones Reworked adds in detail is not confirmed by the sources available for this guide, so this section doesn't describe its features, items or recipes.

How do you get started with XTones Reworked?

5 parts

XTones Reworked is a decorative block mod, so there is nothing to grind through here. Everything starts from one crafting item, and the order below gets you from that to a full palette of blocks.[2]

Step 1: make Xtone Tile

Xtone Tile is the base of nearly everything in the mod. One craft gives you 8 of them, so you will not run short.[2]

Step 2: craft your first base blocks

Each base block pairs Xtone Tile with one other material and gives you 8 blocks per craft. Agon is a good first one, because it is the starting point for a whole colour family.[2]

The same pattern gives you other families, such as Bitt, Cray, Fort, Glaxx and ISZM. The recipe viewer shows each one, so pick whichever material you have to hand.[2]

Step 3: dye your blocks into variants

Once you have a base block, you do not need more Xtone Tile to get colours. Combine a dye with any block from the same family and you get 8 of the matching variant. For Agon, that gives variants 1 to 15, one per dye colour, such as Agon Variant 1.[2]

Azur works a little differently. Azur is crafted from Xtone Tile and a dye.[2]

Step 4: use the stonecutter for Azur and Jelt

The Azur and Jelt families can also be switched between variants in a stonecutter. Put in any block of the family and pick the variant you want, for example Azur Variant 1 or Jelt Variant 1. In total the pack has 256 stonecutting recipes for this mod, so it is the quickest way to reshuffle a build.[2]

Step 5: add lighting

Flat Lamp is the mod's light source, and it gives you 2 per craft. This is one of the few recipes the pack has changed from the mod's own version, so trust the recipe below rather than anything you remember from the mod elsewhere.[2]

Tip: Some blocks have a second recipe, marked as alternate or alternative in the recipe viewer. For example, Agon can also be made from a white dye and any Agon block. Check the viewer for the version that fits what you are carrying.[2]

How does XTones Reworked work?

5 parts

Here's the thing to know up front: in the material I have for this pack, XTones Reworked is a decorative block mod. Everything I can confirm is about crafting and stonecutting building blocks. I found no machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item-handling systems for it, so there's nothing to automate.[2][3]

Start with the Xtone Tile

Nearly everything in the mod starts from Xtone Tile. One craft gives you 8 tiles, so a small batch goes a long way.[2]

Base blocks

Each base block family has a first block that you craft from Xtone Tiles plus one other item. Every craft makes 8 blocks. This covers Agon, Bitt, Cray, Fort, Glaxx, ISZM and Korp. Here is Agon as an example:[2]

Dye variants

For Agon, the numbered variants come from combining a dye with Agon blocks, and each craft makes 8. The pack's recipe dump shows variants 1 and 10 to 15 using yellow, red, orange, brown, black, gray and light gray dyes. Plain Agon also has an alternate recipe that uses white dye.[2]

Stonecutter variants

Some families, such as Azur, use the stonecutter instead. Put any Azur block in and pick the variant you want. The recipe dump counts 256 stonecutting recipes for the mod, each with a different result.[2]

Each family is a set of numbered variants, from 0 up to 15. The language file lists names such as Jelt, Kryp, Lair, Lave and Mint alongside the ones above.[3]

The Flat Lamp

The Flat Lamp is the one item here that the pack has changed. You get 2 lamps per craft with the pack's recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default recipe from elsewhere.[2]

Unverified Whether the mod has any machines, power, fluid or automation features is not confirmed by the sources available for this pack. There is no in-jar guidebook, no config files and no usable documentation for it.

How do you progress through XTones Reworked?

4 parts

XTones Reworked is a decorative block mod, so there are no machine tiers or power levels to climb. In this pack the only real progression is working from one base item out to the block families and their colour variants. No quests in this pack involve the mod, so nothing in the quest book unlocks or points you to it.[2]

Step 1: Xtone Tile

Nearly everything in the mod starts from Xtone Tile. One craft gives you 8 of them, and it uses only plain vanilla materials.[2]

Step 2: Base blocks

Each base block is crafted from Xtone Tile plus one other common material, and each craft makes 8 blocks. Here is the base of the Agon family:[2]

8× AgonMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Xtone TileXtone TileXtone Tile

The same pattern covers other families, for example Bitt, Cray, Fort, Glaxx, ISZM, Korp, Kryp, Lair, Myst, Reed, Roen and Vena. The Z-named families such as Zane Variant 15 and Zyth Variant 15 are also crafted from Xtone Tile and one other material, and these recipes give you their Variant 15 block.[2]

Step 3: Colour variants

Agon and Bitt get their variants through dye crafting. You combine a dye with any block from the same family and get 8 of the dyed variant, numbered 1 to 15. For instance, black dye on an Agon block gives Agon Variant 13, and brown dye on a Bitt block gives Bitt Variant 15.[2]

Azur works differently at the start: the base Azur is crafted from Xtone Tile and blue dye. After that, you switch between its variants in a stonecutter. Any Azur block can be cut into any other Azur variant, one for one.[2]

Jelt follows the same stonecutter idea. Any Jelt block can be cut into Jelt or any of its variants up to Jelt Variant 15. The sources I have don't show how a Jelt block is first obtained, so I can't tell you that part.[2]

Tip: Stonecutting is the cheap way to change a look once you own a block from a family. The pack has 256 stonecutting recipes for this mod, and each one has a different result.[2]

The one pack change: Flat Lamp

The pack has changed the recipe for Flat Lamp, so don't rely on the mod's default. It makes 2 lamps per craft:[2]

Overall, the mod has 299 shaped crafting recipes, and the dump marks only the Flat Lamp as changed by the pack.[2]
