What is Simple Rich Discord Presence?
2 parts
Simple Discord Rich Presence shows what you're doing in Minecraft on your Discord profile. It tells Discord when you're on the main menu, and when you join a world or change dimension.[1]
The pack ships the NeoForge build of the mod, version 87.0.1 for Minecraft 1.21. It has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier.[2]
Config options
- clientId: the Discord App ID to use. You only need this if you want your own Rich Presence application.[1]
- enable: set it to false to turn Discord Rich Presence off.[1]
- screenEvent: set it to false to disable the built-in event that detects when you're on the main menu.[1]
- clientJoinEvent: set it to false to disable the built-in event that fires when you join a world or change dimension.[1]
KubeJS and custom text
The mod has a KubeJS integration. SDRP.setState takes a message, an image name and an image key, and SDRP.getCurrentState returns the state the client is currently set to.[1]
Dimension text comes from lang keys. The message, such as "In Overworld", uses sdrp.<dimension path>.in, and the hover text on the small image uses sdrp.<dimension path>. Lang keys can be changed or added with data packs or mods like KubeJS.[1]
If you use your own Rich Presence application, the general image keys are logo, loading and menu. For dimensions, the key is the dimension's registry name path, such as overworld, the_nether or the_end.[1]
Unverified Where this mod sits in the pack's quest book (chapter, group, what comes before and after) and whether the ATM Star path uses it are told in the quest book itself. The sources here do not show any of that.
How do you get started with Simple Rich Discord Presence?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
There is no crafting order to follow for this one. The project page describes Simple Rich Discord Presence as a config and KubeJS-based way to control what your Discord profile shows while you play, so your first steps are about settings, not items.[1]
The config options
The project page lists these config options:[1]
- clientId is your Discord App ID. It matters if you want to use your own Rich Presence application.[1]
- enable is the master switch. Set it to false if you want to turn Discord Rich Presence off.[1]
- screenEvent is the built-in event that tells Discord when you're on the main menu. Set it to false to disable it.[1]
- clientJoinEvent is the built-in event that fires when you join a world or change dimension. Set it to false to disable it.[1]
Changing the text and images
The message under the pack name, such as "In Overworld" or "In Nether", comes from a lang key in the form sdrp.<dimension path>.in. The text shown when you hover over the small image comes from sdrp.<dimension path>. The dimension path is the registry name path of the dimension, such as overworld, the_nether or the_end.[1]
You can edit or add those lang keys with data packs or with a mod like KubeJS. If you use your own Rich Presence application, the image keys are logo, loading and menu, plus one key per dimension path.[1]
KubeJS scripts can also call SDRP.setState with a message, an image name and an image key. SDRP.getCurrentState tells you the state the client is currently set to.[1]
How does Simple Rich Discord Presence work?
4 parts
This mod is different from most you'll cover in the pack. The sources show no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for it. What it does is a client-side Discord status that shows what you're doing in the game, and how it works comes down to a handful of config options and the KubeJS functions it exposes.[1]
What the config controls
The mod's project page describes these options. You set clientId to the ID of a Discord app. The enable option turns Rich Presence off if you set it to false. screenEvent controls the built-in event that tells Discord when you are on the main menu. clientJoinEvent controls the built-in event that fires when you join a world or change dimension.[1]
The project page calls the enable option "enable", but the pack's config file uses the key enabled. In this pack it is set to true, so the presence is active.[1][3]
How the pack sets it up
- screenEvent is true, so the built-in main menu event is on.[1][3]
- clientJoinEvent is false. Going by the project page, the built-in event for joining a world and changing dimension is therefore switched off in this pack.[1][3]
- clientId is set to a specific Discord app ID in the pack's config file.[1][3]
- buttons holds entries that each have a url and a label. The labels are "Join us on Discord!" and "Download the FTB App".[3]
- logState is true.[3]
KubeJS integration
The mod exposes functions to KubeJS. SDRP.setState takes a message, an imageName and an imageKey. SDRP.getCurrentState returns the state the client is currently set to.[1]
- message is the text shown under the pack name, such as "In Overworld" or "In Nether". You can pass plain text or a lang key.[1]
- imageName is the text shown when you hover over the small image, such as "Overworld" or "Nether". It can also be plain text or a lang key.[1]
- imageKey is the name of the Rich Presence art asset to show. The page gives loading, overworld and menu as examples, and lists logo, loading and menu as image keys for your own Rich Presence application.[1]
Dimension names and lang keys
For dimensions, the image key is the registry name path of the dimension. The page lists overworld, the_nether, the_end and yamda_dim as examples. The message text comes from the lang key sdrp.<dimension path>.in, and the hover text comes from sdrp.<dimension path>. You can change or add these lang keys with data packs or with a mod like KubeJS.[1]
The project page's example is a startup script at kubejs/startup_script/sdrp.js. It listens to the Forge entity join world event. When the entity is a player on the client side, it reads the dimension path and calls SDRP.setState with the matching lang keys.[1]
Which Simple Rich Discord Presence config options matter?
1 part
The pack's settings for this mod all live in one file: config/sdrp-common.json. Here is how the pack sets each option.[3]
The options you will care about
- enabled is set to true in the pack, so Discord Rich Presence is on. The mod's project page lists this on/off option under the name "enable" and says that setting it to false disables Rich Presence. The pack's file uses the key "enabled".[1][3]
- clientId is set to 1372278015853203700 in the pack. The mod page describes this option as the Discord App ID.[1][3]
- screenEvent is true in the pack. The mod page says this built-in event tells Discord when you are on the main menu, and that setting it to false disables it.[1][3]
- clientJoinEvent is false in the pack. The mod page says this event covers joining a world and changing dimension, and that setting it to false disables it. So in this pack that event is turned off.[1][3]
- buttons is a list of buttons for the presence. The pack sets them with the labels "Join us on Discord!" and "Download the FTB App", each with its own link in the file.[3]
- logState is set to true in the pack.[3]
What changed in Simple Rich Discord Presence between versions?
Simple Rich Discord Presence has been in FTB Skies 2 since 1.0.1 or earlier. FTB Skies 2 1.12.0 ships version 87.0.1 of the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.[2]
The one change in the mod's own changelog for this version is that KubeJS support was added back to the NeoForge version. If you script with KubeJS, that's the note to know about.[4]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so any earlier changes to it across FTB Skies 2 releases are not documented here.
