What is Moog's Structure Lib (moogs_structures)?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Moog's Structure Lib is a library mod for the Moogs Structure series. It provides flexible, data-driven structure generation systems that other mods build on, so it works behind the scenes to support those mods.[1]

What it offers

Mod developers add it as a dependency and use its structure types and placement systems. It includes a complete barn structure example that shows how to use all of its features. The project also links a wiki with step-by-step guides, JSON references, real examples from MoogsVoyagerStructures and troubleshooting tips.[1]

It can also be installed server-side only, and it is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes version 3.1.2, the NeoForge 1.21.1 build (MoogsStructureLib-neoforge-1.21.1-3.1.2.jar). It has been part of the pack since version 4.13 or earlier.[2]

How do you get started with Moog's Structure Lib (moogs_structures)?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

There's nothing to craft here, and that's the first thing to know. Moog's Structure Lib is a library mod that gives other mods data-driven structure generation systems to build on, so it isn't something you play with directly.[1]

In this pack there are no quests involving the mod and no recipes that produce its items. That's why this section has no recipe blocks: there's no in-pack recipe to point you to.[1]

What to do first

  1. Don't go looking for an item to make. The mod is a dependency for other mods in the Moog's structure series, and it works behind the scenes.[1]
  2. Explore the world as normal. Structures that rely on this library are generated by the mods that use it, so you find them while exploring.[1]
  3. If you run a server, the mod can be installed server-side only.[1]

Structure rarity

The mod does have rarity settings. Its config text says one option multiplies the spacing of every Moog's structure, where a higher value means rarer structures and a lower value means more common ones. There's also a per-mod version that multiplies the spacing of every structure from one specific mod.[3]

Unverified The config file name, the default values and any changes this pack makes to the rarity settings couldn't be confirmed, so check the config files in your own instance before changing them.

How does Moog's Structure Lib (moogs_structures) work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Moog's Structure Lib is a library mod, so there are no machines, power or item automation to learn here. What it offers is a data-driven structure generation system that other mods build on, so its core mechanics are about how structures get placed in the world.[1]

What the library does

Other mods add it as a dependency and use its structure types and placement systems. It includes a complete barn structure as an example of how to use all of its features.[1]

It can also be installed server-side only, so a server can run it without every player needing it on the client.[1]

Structure rarity

The mod's language file describes a universal rarity option that multiplies the spacing of every Moog's structure. Higher values make structures rarer and lower values make them more common.[3]

There is also a per-mod rarity option that multiplies the spacing of every structure belonging to one particular mod.[3]

Unverified The sources here show no config file for this mod in the pack, so the exact option names and the spacing values the pack uses are unverified. Don't assume the pack has changed structure spacing.

Unverified The mod has its own online wiki with JSON references and examples for structure authors, but it was not available as a source here, so the details of its structure types and placement systems are not covered in this guide.

What changed in Moog's Structure Lib (moogs_structures) between versions?

5 parts

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Moog's Structure Lib 3.1.2 (the NeoForge 1.21.1 build). The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.11.0 or earlier. The pack's own changelogs have no entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs.[4]

3.1.2 (the version in this pack)

  • Fixed a possible crash during world generation or /reload when a structure with piece-count limits was placed on several threads at once.[5]
  • Armour stands and other structure entity processors now generate correctly on every loader, not only Fabric.[5]
  • Structures with item frames, glow item frames, paintings or leash knots no longer spam "invalid position" errors into the log. This is applied automatically to pieces placed through MSL's own pool element types.[5]

Pieces that still use vanilla's single pool element are unaffected and will keep logging those errors. The changelog says Moog's structures are moving onto the MSL element types over time, so the errors should thin out release by release. A pack can opt a piece in early by adding moogs_structures:hanging_entity_anchor_processor to its processor list, which also covers modded entities that store a TileX anchor.[5]

3.0.3

Fixed a worldgen crash on chunk generation that happened when another mod's beardifier or density function mixin invalidated the enhanced-beardifier iterator partway through. The changelog notes it was reported with Terralith installed.[6]

3.0.0

This was the big feature release, and the pack's 3.1.2 is newer, so you get all of it. The headline additions were:[4][7]

  • New structure processors: pillar_processor, spawner_randomizing_processor, trial_spawner_randomizing_processor, vault_randomizing_processor and equip_armor_stand_processor, plus close_off_fluid_sources_processor, remove_floating_blocks_processor, random_replace_with_properties_processor, super_gravity_processor and flood_with_water_processor.[7]
  • Per-piece spawn counts: a datapack-driven cap on how many times each jigsaw piece may appear in a generated structure, so rare pieces stay rare. An additions variant lets other datapacks extend or override another mod's counts without forking the file.[7]
  • An entity processor framework, so processors can modify or equip entities as a structure is placed.[7]
  • Enhanced terrain adaptation (beardifier) that carves or buries terrain around pieces, with a configurable vertical band.[7]
  • Basalt and delta suppression, which stops basalt columns and basalt deltas generating inside structure piece bounds (structure tags no_basalt and no_delta).[7]
  • Nether jigsaw structures got a size cap of 128 pieces, a FIXED_HEIGHT land search direction, and stricter y_allowance enforcement on final placement.[7]
  • A debug command, /moogs_structures debug keepjigsaws on|off|status, which keeps jigsaw blocks in placed structures so you can inspect their name, target and pool in-world.[7]

2.0.2

A round of generation fixes: structures that always generated the same layout, structures spawning in or near water or lava, floating or sunken structures, and structures clipping into each other or failing to place. It also improved overlap detection, optimised collision checks, fixed a potential crash with unrecognised connection types, and reduced the piece placement retry limit for faster generation.[8]

1.1.0

Added a version-aware single pool element, letting structure packs pick the right NBT per Minecraft version for wider version compatibility. This release also introduced the /moogs_structures debug command for toggling runtime diagnostics.[9]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as moogs_structures, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
