What is FTB Pack Companion?
FTB Pack Companion is part of the pack, and the version you get here is 21.1.22 (the file is ftb-pack-companion-21.1.22.jar). It was already present by pack version 1.22.0, and it may have been added in an earlier release.[1]
Unverified I can't confirm what FTB Pack Companion does in gameplay, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. The sources I have only record that the mod is installed, and no guidebook or platform description was available. I'm leaving out feature claims rather than guessing.
Unverified No quests in this pack involve the mod, and it is not on the ATM Star path. This comes from the lack of any quest or progression data for the mod, not from a positive statement in a source.
How do you get started with FTB Pack Companion?
2 parts
This mod doesn't give you a first item to craft. The sources here show no recipes for it, so there is no crafting order to follow. What they do show is a shaders notice, and that's the first thing worth knowing about.[2]
The shaders prompt
The pack includes shaders, but they are disabled by default. The companion mod shows a notice asking whether you'd like to enable them.[2]
Shaders give the pack a vibrant look and feel. They can also be performance-intensive, cause issues with certain mods, and may not be compatible with your hardware.[2]
Menu conditions
The mod's language file also describes FancyMenu conditions that check the player's current hour: one tests whether it is greater than a value, another whether it is less. The value must be a number between 0 and 23, in 24-hour format.[2]
How does FTB Pack Companion work?
2 parts
The material available for this mod doesn't describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling. What it does show is a small set of in-game messages and menu conditions, so that's all this section covers.[2]
Shaders notice
The pack ships with shaders included, but they are disabled by default. The mod shows a notice asking whether you'd like to enable them. It warns that shaders can be performance-intensive, can cause issues with certain mods, and may not be compatible with your hardware.[2]
If you do want the vibrant look, you can enable shaders from that notice. If something goes wrong, you can disable them again later in the video settings.[2]
Time-of-day menu conditions
The mod also adds a pair of FancyMenu conditions that check the user's current hour.[2]
- Hour greater: checks whether the user's current hour is greater than the value you specify.[2]
- Hour less: checks whether the user's current hour is less than the value you specify.[2]
For both conditions the value must be a number between 0 and 23, representing the hour in 24-hour format.[2]
