What is Enderman Overhaul?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Enderman Overhaul reworks the endermen you already know. It adds over 20 new enderman variants, and each one has its own sounds, models and animations. Endermen stop being one repeated mob and start feeling tied to where you find them.[1]

It also overhauls the ender pearl with 8 new variations. Each one drops from a specific enderman variant, so hunting the right variant is how you get the right pearl.[1]

The 8 new pearls

  • Soul pearl: dropped by the soulsand valley enderman. You can bind it to mobs to teleport them remotely.[1]
  • Summoner pearl: dropped by the swamp and end islands endermen. It teleports all nearby mobs to one point.[1]
  • Corrupted pearl: dropped by the end enderman. It randomly teleports enemies it hits.[1]
  • Bubble pearl: dropped by the ocean enderman. It floats slowly through the air without being affected by gravity.[1]
  • Warped pearl: dropped by the warped enderman. It gives you resistance when you land.[1]
  • Crimson pearl: dropped by the crimson enderman. It gives you strength when you land.[1]
  • Icy pearl: dropped by the ice spikes enderman. It freezes nearby enemies when it lands.[1]
  • Ancient pearl: dropped by the end islands enderman. It summons pet endermen that fight for you, and you can recall them by right clicking.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes Enderman Overhaul 2.0.3, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]

Unverified The sources I have don't show any quests, ATM Star path steps, or pack-specific recipe or config changes for this mod, so I can't say where it fits in the pack's progression. Treat the pearl effects above as the mod's own description, not as confirmed pack values.

How do you get started with Enderman Overhaul?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Enderman Overhaul adds over 20 new enderman variants, each with its own sounds, models and animations. The mod describes them as biome-specific, so which enderman you meet depends on where you are. The two crafted items below are the ones with recipes in this pack, so they are the place to start.[1][3]

Step 1: Make the Corrupted Blade

Your first craft is the Corrupted Blade. Its tooltip says it teleports targets randomly. The recipe below is the exact one in this pack, and it is the mod's own recipe, unchanged.[3][4]

Step 2: Make the Corrupted Shield

Next comes the Corrupted Shield, whose tooltip says it teleports attackers randomly. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version, so follow the block below rather than any recipe you remember from outside the pack.[3][4]

Ender pearls to look out for

The mod also adds 8 new ender pearl variations, each dropped by a specific enderman. The ocean enderman drops the Bubble pearl, an accurate pearl with no gravity. The ice spikes enderman drops the Icy pearl, which freezes nearby targets on hit. The crimson and warped endermen drop pearls that apply Strength II and Resistance II when teleporting.[1][3]

Tip: The mod's hood is described as letting you look at endermen without angering them, which is handy when you are tracking down a variant.[3]

How does Enderman Overhaul work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

Enderman Overhaul has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids. Its systems are mob spawning and a set of special ender pearls. It adds over 20 new enderman variants, each with its own sounds, models and animations, and it overhauls the ender pearl with 8 new variations.[1]

How spawning works

The mod removes vanilla endermen from every biome listed in its all-spawns tag, then adds its own variants back through biome modifiers. Each variant has its own biome tag, a spawn weight and a group size. That is why you meet a different enderman depending on where you are.[5][6][7]

Weights and group sizes differ a lot between variants. Here are some examples:[7][8][9][10][11]

  • Badlands Enderman: weight 10, groups of 1 to 4.[7]
  • Cave Enderman: weight 2, always a single one.[8]
  • Nether Wastes Enderman: weight 1, groups of 2 to 4.[10]
  • Warped Forest Enderman: weight 1, but always in a group of 4.[11]
  • End Islands Enderman: weight 1, a single one.[9]

Several variants also carry a spawn cost (an energy budget and a charge value). For example, the Warped Forest Enderman has a charge of 1.0 and an energy budget of 0.12. The practical effect is that they spawn in fewer numbers in crowded areas.[11]

Where each variant spawns

  • Coral Enderman: warm ocean.[12]
  • Ice Spikes Enderman: the ice spikes biome.[13]
  • Nether Wastes Enderman: the nether wastes biome.[14]
  • Crimson Forest Enderman: the crimson forest, plus some optional modded biomes.[15]
  • Dark Oak Enderman: dark forest and woodland mansion areas.[16]
  • Desert Enderman: areas with a desert pyramid or a desert village, plus desert biomes from other tags.[17]
  • End Islands Enderman: end city areas, small end islands and end barrens.[18]
  • Badlands Enderman: mesa mineshaft areas, plus badlands and mesa biomes from other tags.[19]
  • Cave Enderman: dripstone caves and lush caves, and also the surface biomes of several other variants (badlands, dark oak, desert, flower fields, ice spikes, coral, savanna, snowy, swamp and windswept hills).[20]

The biome tags for the End, flower fields, savanna, soulsand valley, swamp, warped forest and windswept hills variants are too long to show here, so check those in game or with a spawn egg.[3]

The special pearls

Most of the new variants drop their own pearl. The drops below come from the mod's project page. The pack's loot tables were not available to check, so treat the sources and drop rates as the mod's description.[1]

  • Soul Pearl: dropped by the soulsand valley enderman. Crouch and right-click to bind an entity, and the pearl then teleports that bound entity to the target location.[1][3]
  • Summoner Pearl: dropped by the swamp and end islands endermen. It teleports nearby targets on hit.[1][3]
  • Corrupted Pearl: dropped by the end enderman. It teleports targets to a random location.[1][3]
  • Bubble Pearl: dropped by the ocean enderman. It is an accurate ender pearl with no gravity.[1][3]
  • Warped Pearl: dropped by the warped enderman. It applies Resistance II when teleporting.[1][3]
  • Crimson Pearl: dropped by the crimson enderman. It applies Strength II when teleporting.[1][3]
  • Icy Pearl: dropped by the ice spikes enderman. It freezes nearby targets on hit.[1][3]
  • Ancient Pearl: dropped by the end islands enderman. It summons a friendly enderman to fight for you, and you crouch and right-click that enderman to get the pearl back.[1][3]

Hoods

Hoods let you look at endermen without angering them. The mod has a Badlands Hood, a Savanna Hood and a Snowy Hood.[3]

Enderman Tooth gear

The Enderman Tooth is the crafting material for two teleporting pieces of gear. The Corrupted Blade teleports the targets you hit randomly.[3][21]

How do you progress through Enderman Overhaul?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

The pack's recipes for Enderman Overhaul are short: both craftable items are built around Enderman Tooth. The sources here show no further tiers, so this section covers those crafts and what the enderman variants drop.[21]

Gear you can craft

The Corrupted Blade uses the mod's own recipe, so the pack has not changed it.[21]

What the variants drop

These are the drops confirmed by the loot tables available for this section. Looting improves the chances where the tables say so.[22][23][24]

  • Badlands Enderman: a chance of an ender pearl, plus separate rolls for a Tiny Skull and a Badlands Hood, each with a 0.1 chance without Looting.[22]
  • Cave Enderman: a chance of an ender pearl, some coal and some raw iron, plus a separate emerald roll with a 0.1 chance without Looting.[23]
  • Coral Enderman: a chance of a Bubble Pearl. This variant spawns in the warm ocean biome.[12][24]
  • Ice Spikes Enderman: spawns in the ice spikes biome.[13]

A Tiny Skull is also a block, and breaking it drops the block itself.[25]

Unverified Which variants drop Enderman Tooth is set in each variant's loot table data file, and the sources here do not show those files.

What changed in Enderman Overhaul between versions?

2 parts

FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 ships Enderman Overhaul 2.0.3. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier. Here are the changes from the mod's own changelogs for the two most recent releases I have notes on.[26]

2.0.3 (the version in this pack)

  • Custom spawn egg textures were added for all enderman variants.[27]
  • Flower Fields Enderman sounds were added.[27]
  • Missing teleport sounds for the Crimson Pearl and Warped Pearl were fixed.[27]
  • The Spirit soul flame emissive glow, which only rendered on one side, was fixed.[27]
  • The Bubble Pearl no longer gets affected by gravity in water.[27]
  • Translations were updated, and French and Italian were added.[27]

2.0.2

  • Recipes and the ender pearl tag were fixed (issue #76).[28]
  • The scarab was added to the arthropod and powder_snow_walkable_mobs tags (issue #70).[28]
Tip: If you are on FTB Skies 2 1.23.0, you already have everything listed under 2.0.3, including the pearl sound and gravity fixes.[26][27]
