What is Enderman Overhaul?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Enderman Overhaul reworks the endermen you already know. It adds over 20 new enderman variants, and each one has its own sounds, models and animations. Endermen stop being one repeated mob and start feeling tied to where you find them.[1]

It also overhauls the ender pearl with 8 new variations. Each one drops from a specific enderman variant, so hunting the right variant is how you get the right pearl.[1]

The 8 new pearls

  • Soul pearl: dropped by the soulsand valley enderman. You can bind it to mobs to teleport them remotely.[1]
  • Summoner pearl: dropped by the swamp and end islands endermen. It teleports all nearby mobs to one point.[1]
  • Corrupted pearl: dropped by the end enderman. It randomly teleports enemies it hits.[1]
  • Bubble pearl: dropped by the ocean enderman. It floats slowly through the air without being affected by gravity.[1]
  • Warped pearl: dropped by the warped enderman. It gives you resistance when you land.[1]
  • Crimson pearl: dropped by the crimson enderman. It gives you strength when you land.[1]
  • Icy pearl: dropped by the ice spikes enderman. It freezes nearby enemies when it lands.[1]
  • Ancient pearl: dropped by the end islands enderman. It summons pet endermen that fight for you, and you can recall them by right clicking.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes Enderman Overhaul 2.0.3, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]

Unverified The sources I have don't show any quests, ATM Star path steps, or pack-specific recipe or config changes for this mod, so I can't say where it fits in the pack's progression. Treat the pearl effects above as the mod's own description, not as confirmed pack values.

How do you get started with Enderman Overhaul?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Enderman Overhaul adds over 20 new enderman variants, each with its own sounds, models and animations. The mod describes them as biome-specific, so which enderman you meet depends on where you are. The two crafted items below are the ones with recipes in this pack, so they are the place to start.[1][3]

Step 1: Make the Corrupted Blade

Your first craft is the Corrupted Blade. Its tooltip says it teleports targets randomly. The recipe below is the exact one in this pack, and it is the mod's own recipe, unchanged.[3][4]

Step 2: Make the Corrupted Shield

Next comes the Corrupted Shield, whose tooltip says it teleports attackers randomly. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version, so follow the block below rather than any recipe you remember from outside the pack.[3][4]

Ender pearls to look out for

The mod also adds 8 new ender pearl variations, each dropped by a specific enderman. The ocean enderman drops the Bubble pearl, an accurate pearl with no gravity. The ice spikes enderman drops the Icy pearl, which freezes nearby targets on hit. The crimson and warped endermen drop pearls that apply Strength II and Resistance II when teleporting.[1][3]

Tip: The mod's hood is described as letting you look at endermen without angering them, which is handy when you are tracking down a variant.[3]

How does Enderman Overhaul work?

4 parts

Enderman Overhaul is a mob and item mod, and nothing in the sources describes machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation for it. What it does have are the biome-specific endermen and a set of special pearls and gear, so this section covers how those behave in the pack.[1][5]

The pearls

The mod overhauls the ender pearl with several new variants. Each one has its own effect, taken from the in-game tooltips:[1][5]

  • Bubble Pearl: an accurate ender pearl with no gravity.[5]
  • Corrupted Pearl: teleports targets to a random location.[5]
  • Summoner Pearl: teleports nearby targets on hit.[5]
  • Icy Pearl: freezes nearby targets on hit.[5]
  • Crimson Pearl: applies Strength II when teleporting.[5]
  • Warped Pearl: applies Resistance II when teleporting.[5]
  • Soul Pearl: crouch-right-click to bind an entity, then it teleports the bound entity to the target location.[5]
  • Ancient Pearl: summons a friendly enderman to fight for you. Crouch-right-click a summoned enderman to retrieve the pearl.[5]
Tip: The Soul Pearl is the one with a two-step process: bind an entity first with crouch-right-click, then the pearl teleports that bound entity to the target location.[5]

Hoods

The hoods (Badlands, Savanna and Snowy) let you look at endermen without angering them. That is a big help when you are working around the biome endermen.[5]

Corrupted gear

The Corrupted Blade teleports targets randomly. The Corrupted Shield does the same to whatever attacks you. Both are crafted with an Enderman Tooth.[5][6]

What the pack changes

The pack adds a shapeless recipe that turns any item in the common ender pearls tag into a vanilla ender pearl. Whether each Enderman Overhaul pearl is in that tag is not shown in the sources.[7]

The pack also writes a Hostile Neural Networks data model for the enderman that lists all the Enderman Overhaul biome variants. It has a sim cost of 512, and the fabricator drops include 16 ender pearls and an end crystal. Some further drops are marked optional.[8]

How do you progress through Enderman Overhaul?

3 parts

Enderman Overhaul doesn't give you a tier ladder in this pack. The pack's recipe data lists only two crafted items from the mod: Corrupted Blade and Corrupted Shield. Both are built around Enderman Tooth, so that's the drop you want to collect.[6]

Corrupted Blade

The blade uses the mod's own recipe, which this pack leaves as it is. It is a shaped crafting recipe, so the layout in the grid matters.[6]

Corrupted Shield

The shield is different. The pack changes its recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default. It is also a shaped recipe, and the one below is what you craft in this pack. Its ingredients are tag-based, so any iron ingot and any planks are accepted.[6]

Ender pearls in the pack

One more pack tweak is worth knowing. A script in the pack's Enderman Overhaul folder adds a shapeless recipe that turns any item in the ender pearls tag into a plain vanilla ender pearl. If a modded pearl won't work in a recipe that wants the vanilla one, convert it this way.[7]

What changed in Enderman Overhaul between versions?

2 parts
