What is BEER?

BEER is included in this pack at version 1.2 (the file is beer-1.2.jar). It has been part of the pack since version 1.0.1 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what BEER adds, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. I haven't confirmed its items, recipes, configs or mechanics, so this page doesn't describe them.

Unverified I found no confirmed information on a link between BEER and the ATM Star path, or on any quests involving it. Check in-game before assuming either.

How do you get started with BEER?

There is no confirmed first-steps path for this mod in the pack, so I'm only covering what I can verify.[2]

The one confirmed detail is an enchanting table tooltip labelled "Bookshelf Range". It displays the range as a set of values joined by "x" (in the form Bookshelf Range: AxBxC). Look for it when you set up enchanting.[2]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, and the sources here show no recipes that produce its items. The first items to craft and their order are therefore not shown, and no recipe blocks are included.

How does BEER work?

2 parts

The mod's documented mechanics are small: one configurable range and an enchanting table tooltip that mentions a bookshelf range. This section stays short to match.[2][3]

Range setting

The mod's common config has an option, range, which sets a range for the X, Y and Z axes. The mod's default is 16 by 16 by 16.[3]

The pack changes this value. It sets the range to 8 by 8 by 8, which is half the mod's default on every axis.[3]

What you see in the tooltip

The mod's language file has an enchanting table tooltip that reads "Bookshelf Range", followed by the X, Y and Z sizes written in an AxBxC style. It is how the mod shows you the bookshelf range on the enchanting table.[2]

Which BEER config options matter?

There's only one config option for BEER that this pack exposes, and it's a good one to know about: range in the common config file. It sets the search range for the X, Y and Z axes.[3]

The pack sets it to [8, 8, 8]. The mod default is [16, 16, 16], so the pack cuts the range in half on every axis.[3]

Tip: If something from BEER doesn't seem to reach as far as you'd expect from the mod's own defaults, this is why: the pack's range is 8 on each axis instead of 16.[3]

Unverified What exactly the range applies to in gameplay (for example, which blocks or effects it covers) is not stated in the pack's config file, so it is unverified here.
