What is AEInfinityBooster?

AEInfinityBooster is a small add-on for Applied Energistics 2 (AE2). It adds two upgrade cards: an Infinite Range Card and a Dimension Card.[1]

The pack ships version 1.21.1-1.0.0.58 of the NeoForge build. It has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[2]

How do you get started with AEInfinityBooster?

3 parts

AEInfinityBooster is a small add-on for AE2 that gives you two cards: the Infinity Range Booster and the Dimension Card. There are only two things to craft, so the order is simple: make the Infinity Range Booster first, then the Dimension Card.[1][3]

Step 1: the Infinity Range Booster

Start here, because the Dimension Card builds on it. This pack changes the recipe for the Infinity Range Booster, so don't trust a recipe you remember from another pack or from the mod's defaults. The one below is exactly what you craft in this pack.[3]

Infinity Range BoosterChanged by the pack

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: aeinfinitybooster:infinity_card

Step 2: the Dimension Card

Once you have the Infinity Range Booster, you can move on to the Dimension Card. Its recipe is the mod's own and the pack leaves it unchanged.[3]

Watch out: The Dimension Card's tooltip says it does not provide chunk loading capabilities, so don't count on it to keep an area loaded.[4]

What they cost to run

Both cards drain power every tick. In this pack the Infinity Range Booster drains 50 per tick (general.infinityCardDrain) and the Dimension Card drains 100 per tick (general.dimensionCardDrain). Both are the mod's default values, so the pack hasn't changed them.[5]

The Dimension Card costs twice as much power as the Infinity Range Booster, so make sure your power supply can cope before you rely on it.[5]

How does AEInfinityBooster work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

This mod is small. It adds two items to Applied Energistics 2: the Infinity Range Booster and the Dimension Card. Neither is a machine or a multiblock, so there is no power, fluid or item handling to set up.[1][6]

The two cards

Watch out: The Dimension Card's own tooltip says it does not provide chunk loading capabilities. Don't count on it to keep an area loaded.[6]

Crafting

The pack changed the Infinity Range Booster recipe from the mod's own version, so use the recipe below rather than anything you remember from other modpacks. It is a shaped crafting recipe.[7]

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: aeinfinitybooster:infinity_card

The Dimension Card uses the mod's own recipe, which the pack did not change. It is also a shaped crafting recipe.[7]

Unverified The sources do not describe how the cards behave in play: the exact range the Infinity Range Booster gives, how the Dimension Card works beyond its tooltip, or any settings. The mod has no config files in the pack.

How do you progress through AEInfinityBooster?

2 parts

AEInfinityBooster has a short progression path in this pack, and the upgrade step is built straight from the first item. You start with the Infinity Range Booster, then move up to the Dimension Card.[3]

First tier: Infinity Range Booster

The pack changed the recipe for the Infinity Range Booster, so don't assume the mod's default recipe applies here. It is a shaped crafting recipe that builds on an AE2 wireless booster, and it also asks for a Nether Star, which makes it a late-game craft. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[3]

Infinity Range BoosterChanged by the pack

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Ender EyeWireless BoosterEnder Eye
Wireless BoosterNether StarWireless Booster
any netherite ingotany netherite ingotany netherite ingot

Recipe id: aeinfinitybooster:infinity_card

This recipe was changed by the pack.

Second tier: Dimension Card

The Dimension Card is the upgrade step. It is a shaped crafting recipe that uses the Infinity Range Booster you made in the first tier as an ingredient. The recipe dump lists it as a mod recipe, with no pack change noted.[3]

The recipe dump shows this as a mod recipe, not one changed by the pack.

Tip: Decide before you craft the upgrade. The Dimension Card recipe uses up the Infinity Range Booster, so you can't keep both from a single craft.[3]

Unverified The sources here show no quests in the pack's quest book that involve this mod, so there is no quest-guided path for it. Check the pack's quest chapters yourself if you want to see whether anything points to these items.

How does AEInfinityBooster work with other mods?

Infinity Range Booster is an add-on for AE2, so that is the mod it connects to most directly. In this pack, the link shows up in the crafting recipe.[1][3]

The pack changed the recipe for the Infinity Range Booster. It is a shaped crafting recipe that builds on AE2's Wireless Booster and also uses vanilla items such as Ender Eye and Nether Star. The netherite part accepts any ingot from the shared netherite ingot tag, so it does not matter which mod the ingot comes from. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[3]

Infinity Range BoosterChanged by the pack

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Ender EyeWireless BoosterEnder Eye
Wireless BoosterNether StarWireless Booster
any netherite ingotany netherite ingotany netherite ingot

Recipe id: aeinfinitybooster:infinity_card

This is the pack's changed version of the recipe, not the mod default.

Tip: Because the pack changed this recipe, don't rely on recipes from the mod's own page or from other modpacks. Use the recipe above for what you actually need.[3]

Which AEInfinityBooster config options matter?

AEInfinityBooster only has two config options, and both live in one file. They set how much power each of its cards drains every tick. Good news: this pack leaves both at the mod default, so nothing here has been changed.[5]

So in this pack the Dimension Card costs twice as much power per tick as the Infinity Card (100 compared with 50). Keep that in mind when you plan your energy supply for the network.[5]

What changed in AEInfinityBooster between versions?

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships AEInfinityBooster 1.21.1-1.0.0.58. The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack.[2]

The changelog entries for builds 1.21.1-1.0.0.52, 1.21.1-1.0.0.54 and 1.21.1-1.0.0.58 don't list any changes. They only say the mod's changelog is kept on the project's GitHub page, so that's the place to look for per-release details.[8][9][10]

Unverified What actually changed between builds 1.0.0.52, 1.0.0.54 and 1.0.0.58 can't be confirmed from the pack's own sources, and the pack changelogs have no entries for this mod.
