wd's Selling Bin is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 1.6-NEOFORGE-26.1.2. A data-driven selling bin mod (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is wd's Selling Bin?

2 parts

wd's Selling Bin is a data-driven selling bin: you put items in and get currency back. This pack includes version 1.6-NEOFORGE-26.1.2 of it.[1][2]

The mod itself ships with no trades by default. The prices and currencies come from datapacks, which can be the built-in ones or your own. The mod's built-in datapacks can be picked on the world creation screen under Data Packs, or enabled in a world with the /datapack enable command.[1]

What the bin does

  • Leftover from selling is stored inside the bin, so nothing is lost.[1]
  • Hover an item and hold shift to see its price. You can change this behaviour in the in-game config under Mods > wd's Selling Bin > Config.[1]
  • The bin has an auto-sell toggle. Hoppers and modded pipes can deposit items and pull out the selected currency, so you can automate it.[1]
  • EMI and JEI are supported. Check the uses of the selling bin to see every sellable item and currency the server has registered.[1]

Prices and customization

Item prices are calculated with processors. These allow NBT-based valuing, for example when an item is damaged or enchanted. The mod's wiki lists the processors you can use directly in the datapack jsons.[1]

The mod also has a global sales multiplier in its config. It is meant for cases where a built-in datapack's prices feel too high or too low across the board.[1]

For other mods, the mod offers optional datapacks for Create: Numismatics coins, Lightman's Currency coins, Quality Food, [Let's Do] Brewery beers, [Let's Do] Vinery wines and Starcatcher fish values. Create: Numismatics bank cards can also send sales straight to your bank account.[1]

How do you get started with wd's Selling Bin?

4 parts

wd's Selling Bin lets you exchange your items for different currencies. Everything starts with one block, the Selling Bin, so that is the first thing to make.[1][3]

Step 1: craft the Selling Bin

This is the in-pack recipe for the bin. It is the only item you need to get going.

Step 2: check that it has something to sell

The mod does not include any trades by default. The bin does nothing without a datapack, and its screen tells you so if no currencies or sellable items are registered. If you see that message, you can pick one of the built-in datapacks in the Data Packs area when you create a world, or use /datapack enable inside the world.[1][4]

Step 3: learn to read prices and sell

  1. Hover over an item and hold shift to see its price. The in-game config under Mods > wd's Selling Bin > Config can change this behaviour.[1]
  2. Open the bin, pick the currency you want, and use Sell or Sell All. Anything left over after selling stays inside the bin, so nothing is lost.[1][4]
  3. Check the uses of the bin in EMI or JEI to see every sellable item and currency the server has registered.[1][4]
Watch out: This pack changes the global sell rate. selling_bin_multiplier is set to 0.5 here, while the mod default is 1. Expect lower payouts than the mod's own pages suggest.[5]

Later: automate it

Once you are happy with the basics, the bin has an Auto-Sell toggle. It also works with hoppers and modded pipes, which can deposit items and take out the selected currency.[1][4]

If you use Create: Numismatics, the bin has a slot for a bank card, and sales can then be transferred straight to your bank account.[1][4]

How does wd's Selling Bin work?

6 parts

The Selling Bin from wd's Selling Bin lets you exchange items for currencies. Everything it does is data-driven, so what you can sell and what you get paid in depends on datapacks.[1]

It needs a datapack to do anything

The mod ships with no trades. Its own sellable-item data and currency data are both empty, and the in-game screen tells you the bin does nothing without a datapack. If no currencies or sellable items are registered, the screen says so and points you to the mod's wiki and to the built-in datapacks you can pick at world creation or turn on with /datapack enable.[1][4][6][7]

Using the screen

  • Sell and Sell All: buttons for selling items.[4]
  • Auto-Sell: a toggle on the screen.[1][4]
  • Currency: the screen lists the registered currencies and shows the currency you have selected, along with a price.[4]
  • Numismatic Bank Card slot: with Create: Numismatics, a bank card can be used to transfer sales straight to your bank account.[1][4]

Leftover from selling is stored inside the bin, so nothing is lost.[1]

How prices are worked out

An item's price is calculated by processors, which can value an item based on its data, such as damage or enchantments. The screen lists the processors that apply. The ones the mod's language file describes are:[1][4]

  • Durability: the price is scaled by remaining durability.[4]
  • Enchantments: the price goes up based on the enchantments.[4]
  • Food: the price goes up with hunger and saturation.[4]
  • Quality foods: the price goes up based on the quality.[4]
  • Beer quality: the price goes up based on the beer's quality.[4]
  • Wine age: the price goes up based on the wine's age.[4]
Tip: To check what an item is worth, hover over it and hold shift. This tooltip behaviour can be changed in the in-game mod config under Mods > wd's Selling Bin > Config.[1]

Automation

The bin has an auto-sell toggle and supports hoppers and modded pipes. You can use them to deposit items into it and to remove the currency you have selected.[1]

The pack's sell multiplier

The server config has a global sell-rate setting, selling_bin_multiplier. The mod default is 1, but this pack changes it to 0.5. It adjusts the bin's sell rates globally, on top of whatever prices the datapack in use provides.[1][5]

Breaking and moving the bin

When the bin is broken, its loot table drops the bin if the block's center state is true. The dropped item keeps the bin's custom name, stored items, lock, container loot and stored value, so you can pick it up and move it.[8]

How do you progress through wd's Selling Bin?

3 parts

This one is short, because there is not much of a ladder to climb. The sources I have for wd's Selling Bin show a single block, the Selling Bin, and no upgraded versions of it. So there are no tiers to break down.[3]

Getting the Selling Bin

The Selling Bin has one crafting recipe in the pack, and it comes from the mod itself. Here it is as the site renders it.[3]

What happens when you break it

When you break a Selling Bin, it drops itself and keeps its data. The dropped item carries over the custom name, the stored contents, the lock, the container loot and the stored value. You can pick a bin up without losing what is in it.[8]

No preset values in the mod's data

The mod's own data files for item currencies and item values are both empty in its jar. They set no built-in price list or currency ladder that could be split into stages.[6][7]

Which wd's Selling Bin config options matter?

1 part

The main server option for wd's Selling Bin is selling_bin_multiplier. It adjusts the selling bin sell rates globally, so it scales everything you sell.[5]

This pack changed it. The mod default is 1, but the pack sets it to 0.5. Every sale pays out at the pack's lower rate, which works out to half of what the mod would pay with its default.[5]

Watch out: Don't plan your selling around the mod's default rates. The pack sets selling_bin_multiplier to 0.5 instead of the default 1, so check prices in this pack before you build a setup around them.[5]

Price tooltips

To see an item's price, hover over it and hold shift. This behaviour can be changed in the in-game config under Mods > wd's Selling Bin > Config. The sources here do not show whether the pack changed anything there.[1]
