What is Tesseract?
1 part
Tesseract is a transport mod that moves items, fluids and energy between machines. Tesseracts work at any distance and even across dimensions, so you can link a base in one dimension to a machine room in another without running a single pipe between them.[1]
This pack ships version 1.0.39 of the mod.[2]
How it works
Items, fluid and energy are transported between Tesseracts that share the same channel. Right-click a Tesseract to open its GUI, where you pick which channel it uses. You can use multiple channels to keep different groups of Tesseracts separate.[1]
- Creating a channel: open the GUI, pick a category tab, press Create, type a channel name, set the lock button and confirm. Locked means private, unlocked means public.[1]
- Private channels can't be used by other players.[1]
- Setting a channel: open the GUI, pick the category tab, click the channel in the list and press SET.[1]
- Removing a channel: open the GUI, go to the channel's category tab, click the channel in the list and press REMOVE.[1]
- Channel names can be up to 19 characters long.[1]
How do you get started with Tesseract?
5 parts
Good news: getting started with Tesseract is quick, because there is only one item to make. The Tesseract moves items, fluids and energy between Tesseracts that share a channel, at any distance and even across dimensions.[1][3][4]
Step 1: Craft your Tesseracts
You need at least two, since the Tesseract transports things between Tesseracts on the same channel. Here is the in-pack recipe.[1]

Recipe id: tesseract:tesseract
This is the recipe the pack uses. The alternative Thermal Series recipe is switched off in this pack.
The option General.enableThermalRecipe is set to false in this pack, so the alternative Thermal Series recipe is not used.[5]
Step 2: Create a channel
Place a Tesseract and right-click it to open its screen. Everything happens there, and there are separate tabs for items, fluids and energy.[1][3]
- Click the tab for the kind of thing you want to move.[1]
- Click the Create button to open the channel screen.[1][3]
- Click the text field and type a channel name. Names can be up to 19 characters long.[1][3]
- Set the lock button. Locked means the channel is private, unlocked means it is public.[1]
- Click Create to confirm.[1]
Step 3: Set the channel on each Tesseract
Creating a channel does not tie it to a Tesseract yet. On every Tesseract that should use it, open the screen, pick the right tab, click the channel in the list and press the button that activates it. Do the same on the second Tesseract and the two are linked. To undo it, the screen also has a Deactivate button.[1][3]
Step 4: Choose how each Tesseract behaves
The screen has a transfer mode with the settings send only, receive only, and send and receive. It also has a redstone setting with disabled, high and low.[3]
There is no set limit on how much a Tesseract transfers. It moves as much as the connected pipes and machines can send or receive.[1]
Saving
Tesseract data is saved on an interval set by General.saveInterval. In this pack it is 3, meaning every 3 minutes, and the allowed range is 1 to 30.[5]
How does Tesseract work?
7 parts
The Tesseract from Tesseract is one block that moves items, fluids and energy between Tesseracts. It works at any distance and across dimensions, and you control it by right-clicking it to open its screen.[1][4]
How channels work
Everything is built around channels. Items, fluids and energy are transported between Tesseracts that are set to the same channel. Each type has its own channel list, so an item channel, a fluid channel and an energy channel are created and picked separately. You can run several channels to keep different groups of Tesseracts apart.[1][3]
Channels are either public or private. A private channel can't be used by other players. When you create a channel, the lock button decides which it is: locked means private, unlocked means public.[1][3]
Channel names can be up to 19 characters long and can use letters and number keys, so you won't run out of names.[1]

Crafting Shaped

| any obsidian | any ender pearl | any obsidian |
Recipe id: tesseract:tesseract
This is the pack's recipe for the Tesseract.
The mod also has an alternative recipe for when the Thermal Series mods are installed. In this pack the option for it, General.enableThermalRecipe, is set to false, which is also the mod's default.[5]
Setting up a channel
Right-click a Tesseract to open its screen. Along the top are tabs for Items, Fluids and Energy, and each tab shows the channels of that type. The screen also has an Information button, but its label in the pack's language file reads "Coming soon", so don't count on it yet.[1][3]
- Right-click a Tesseract and click the tab for the type you want.[1]
- Click the Create button to open a new window.[1]
- Click the text field and type the channel name.[1]
- Set the lock button: locked is private, unlocked is public.[1]
- Click Create to confirm.[1]
- Back on the main screen, click your channel in the list and press the button that applies it to this Tesseract. In the pack's screen text that button is called Activate, and the one that clears it is Deactivate.[1][3]
Put a second Tesseract on the same channel and the two are linked.[1]
Transfer mode and redstone
The screen text lists a Transfer Mode setting with the options Send Only, Receive Only, and Send and Receive. Use them to make one Tesseract an input and another an output on the same channel.[3]
The screen text also lists a redstone setting with the states Disabled, High and Low.[3]
Throughput
Tesseracts have no built-in limit on how much they move. They transfer as much as the connected pipes and machines can send or receive. If something is slow, look at the machines and pipes on either end, not at the Tesseract.[1]
Removing a channel
- Right-click a Tesseract and click the tab for the channel's type.[1]
- Click the channel in the list.[1]
- Click the Remove button.[1]
Saving and breaking
Tesseract data is saved on a timer. In this pack General.saveInterval is 3, so it saves every 3 minutes. The allowed range is 1 to 30, and 3 is also the mod's default.[5]
When you break a Tesseract it drops itself, as long as it survives an explosion.[6]
How do you progress through Tesseract?
The recipe sources for this pack show one Tesseract item: Tesseract from Tesseract. There is no tier ladder of upgraded versions to climb, so the progression here is one craft.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any obsidian | any ender pearl | any obsidian |
| any ender pearl | any diamond storage block | any ender pearl |
| any obsidian | any ender pearl | any obsidian |
Recipe id: tesseract:tesseract
This is the only recipe in the pack that makes a Tesseract item. It is a shaped crafting recipe that comes from the mod itself.
When you break a placed Tesseract, the block drops itself as the Tesseract item. Its loot table has a single entry for that item, and the drop is subject to the survives-explosion condition. So you can pick it up and move it without needing to craft it again.[6]
Which Tesseract config options matter?
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Tesseract has only two options in its common config file, and this pack leaves both at the mod default. You won't find any pack-specific changes here, but it's worth knowing what each one does.[7]
- General.saveInterval is set to 3. It controls how often Tesseract data is saved, in minutes, so in this pack your Tesseract data is saved every 3 minutes. The allowed range is 1 to 30, and 3 is also the mod default.[7]
- General.enableThermalRecipe is set to false, which is the mod default. This option decides whether the alternative Thermal Series recipe is used when the Thermal Series mods are installed. In this pack it is off, so that alternative recipe is not used.[7]
Unverified Whether a lower or higher save interval has a noticeable effect on performance or on how much data you could lose after a crash is not covered by the available sources.
What changed in Tesseract between versions?
2 parts
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Tesseract 1.0.39, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 26.1. It has been in the pack since 1.0.2 or earlier, so you are on the newest release in the changelog I have.[2]
1.0.39: performance and safety
This is the version you are playing, and most of it is under-the-hood work to keep big setups running smoothly.[2][8]
- Inserting into and extracting from tesseracts on large channels is faster.[8]
- Querying capabilities for neighboring blocks is faster.[8]
- Adding and removing channels is faster when a lot of players are online.[8]
- Tesseract block entities are now cached rather than queried from the world.[8]
- Your client is now only sent channels that are public or created by your player, and packet sizes for tesseract and channel data were reduced.[8]
- Added checks to stop malicious actors from sending packets the wrong direction, and to prevent excessive memory allocation from malicious packets.[8]
- Fixed 2 buttons on the left of the tesseract interface not highlighting correctly when hovered.[8]
Earlier releases
- 1.0.38b: fixed an erroneous atlas source file that led to missing textures on the tesseract block.[8]
- 1.0.38a: fixed a crash on dedicated servers.[8]
- 1.0.38: the initial release of Tesseract, listed in the changelog for Minecraft 1.21.11. An "Update to Minecraft 26.1" marker sits just above this entry in the changelog.[8]
