What is Sophisticated Item Actions?

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide

Sophisticated Item Actions is one of the mods bundled in the pack. This pack ships version 0.5.16, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 (file sophisticateditemactions-1.21.1-0.5.16.423.jar).[1]

The mod was already in the pack by the 1.21.0 release, so it is not a later addition. The sources I have don't say when it was first added, only that it was included in this version or earlier.[1]

Unverified The sources I was given don't describe what Sophisticated Item Actions does, who it is aimed at, or how it fits into the pack's progression. They also don't show any pack-specific recipes, config changes, quests or an ATM Star path connection for it. Until those are confirmed, treat any claim about its features or progression role as unverified.

How do you get started with Sophisticated Item Actions?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 guide

Sophisticated Item Actions works through key presses. It moves items between your inventory and the storages near you. In this pack, your first step is to find its actions in your controls and try each one next to a chest.[2]

Set up your keys

Open your key bindings and look for the category named Sophisticated Item Actions. It holds the actions below.[2]

  • Deposit Item into Storages: sends items from your inventory into nearby storages. Items in your backpacks are covered too, and the game tells you how many came from your inventory and how many from backpacks.[2]
  • Restock Item from Storages: refills stacks in your inventory from nearby storages. It can also fill backpacks, and it tells you when a stack is already full.[2]
  • Highlight Storage with Item: shows you which nearby storages hold a matching item. The message says whether it found the exact item or just the item type, and in how many locations.[2]

The mod also shows short tips in-game for deposit, storage search and restock, each naming the key to press. You will see them as you play, so there is nothing to memorise.[2]

Restocking recipe ingredients

The mod adds a Restock Recipe Ingredients option for recipe viewers. This pack leaves it on: server.recipeRestockEnabled is set to true, so the recipe viewer restock buttons can pull ingredients from nearby storage. If a server turns it off, you get a message saying recipe restocking is disabled by the server.[2][3]

Tip: If an action does nothing, read the message it gives you. You may see that no storage was found in range, that no matching item was found, or that your stacks are already full.[2]

Unverified The sources here show no in-pack recipe or quest for this mod, so there is no crafting step to list. Nothing here confirms any quest chapter or recipe that involves it.

How does Sophisticated Item Actions work?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 guide

Sophisticated Item Actions works through keybind actions that move items between you and the storages around you, or help you find them. You will find them under the "Sophisticated Item Actions" category in your controls screen.[2]

The actions

  • Deposit Item into Storages: the mod's tip says to press the key to deposit into nearby storages.[2]
  • Highlight Storage with Item: the mod's tip says to press the key to find items in nearby storages.[2]
  • Restock Item from Storages: the mod's tip says to press the key to restock from nearby storages.[2]

The mod shows a small tip for each action (Deposit Tip, Storage Search Tip and Restock Tip) that tells you which key to press. The sources here do not show the default keys, so check your controls screen.[2]

Depositing

Deposit reports what happened with status messages. It can say it deposited a single item or several items into storage. It also reports items moved from backpacks, and it can split the count between your inventory and your backpacks.[2]

If nothing could be stored, you get "Could not deposit any items into storage", or a message naming the one item that had no home. If no storage is close enough, you are told "No storage was found in range". The sources here do not give the range.[2]

Finding items

The highlight action tells you how many locations hold what you are looking for, and it separates two kinds of match. An exact item match reports "Exact item found in" a number of locations, and a match on item type only reports "Item type found in" a number of locations. If neither exists nearby, you see "No exact item or item type found".[2]

Restocking

Restock refills what you carry from nearby storages. It can report restocked items for your inventory, for your backpacks, or for both at once. If a stack is already full you get a message saying so, and if every stack is full you are told all stacks are already full. If no storage has what you need, the mod says it could not restock from any storage.[2]

Recipe restock

The mod also adds a "Restock Recipe Ingredients" action for recipe viewers. It pulls recipe ingredients from nearby storage. If the ingredients are already available, it says so. If it finds none in storage, it says it could not restock any recipe items.[2][3]

The server controls this feature through server.recipeRestockEnabled. In this pack it is set to true, so the recipe viewer restock buttons are allowed to pull ingredients from nearby storage. If a server turned it off, you would see "Recipe restocking is disabled by the server" instead.[2][3]

Which Sophisticated Item Actions config options matter?

1 part

Sophisticated Item Actions has very little to configure in this pack, and the sources I have show just one option in its server config file. It is a handy one though, so here is what it does and how the pack sets it.[4]

Recipe restock buttons

server.recipeRestockEnabled controls whether the restock buttons in your recipe viewer can pull recipe ingredients from nearby storage. In this pack it is set to true, so the feature is switched on.[4]

Tip: If the restock buttons ever stop pulling ingredients from nearby storage, check that this option is still true in config/sophisticateditemactions-server.toml. The pack ships it as true.[4]

Unverified The sources here do not show whether the pack changed this option from the mod default, or whether the mod has other options in its config files. Check config/sophisticateditemactions-server.toml directly if you need to know.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as sophisticateditemactions, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
