What is Sophisticated Item Actions?

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.13.1 guide

Sophisticated Item Actions is part of this pack, and the version you get is 0.5.3. It was already in the pack by 1.13.0, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Sophisticated Item Actions does, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. I have no confirmed information on its features, recipes, configs or quests, so I'm not guessing at them here. There is also nothing to confirm whether it sits on the ATM Star path.

How do you get started with Sophisticated Item Actions?

3 parts

Sophisticated Item Actions is all about key presses. It gives you actions that work with the storages around you: deposit items, find items, and restock items. Getting started means learning those actions, so there is nothing to craft first.[2]

Find the controls

The mod adds its own key bindings category called Sophisticated Item Actions. Open your controls menu and look for it. The actions are named Deposit Item into Storages, Highlight Storage with Item, and Restock Item from Storages. The mod also shows small tip pop-ups (Deposit Tip, Storage Search Tip and Restock Tip) that tell you which key to press.[2]

Try the actions in this order

  1. Deposit first. Use the deposit action near your storages and the mod puts your items into them, then tells you what it moved. If you carry backpacks, it reports the items it took from them too. If nothing could be stored, it tells you it could not deposit any items into storage.[2]
  2. Then try highlight. Use it to find an item in nearby storages. The mod tells you how many locations hold the exact item or the same item type, or that no exact item or item type was found.[2]
  3. Finally, restock. Use it to refill your items from nearby storages. If a stack is already full, or no storage has the item, you get a message saying so.[2]
Tip: If you see the message that no storage was found in range, the mod has nothing nearby to work with. Go to your storages and try again.[2]

Recipe restocking in this pack

The mod can also restock recipe ingredients from nearby storage, through the restock button in the recipe viewer (the button is labelled Restock Recipe Ingredients). This pack has it switched on: server.recipeRestockEnabled is set to true. If a server turns it off, the mod tells you that recipe restocking is disabled by the server.[2][3]

How does Sophisticated Item Actions work?

3 parts

Sophisticated Item Actions is a quality-of-life mod built around keybinds that work with the storages near you. The sources here describe it purely as a way to move items between your inventory and nearby storage, or to find where an item is. They show no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling for it.[2]

The storage actions

  • Deposit Item into Storages: puts items from your inventory into nearby storages. The mod reports how many items went in. If you carry backpacks, it can also deposit from them and tells you how many items came from the inventory and how many from the backpacks.[2]
  • Restock Item from Storages: refills items from nearby storages. It can fill your inventory and your backpacks, and it reports the counts for each. Stacks that are already full are skipped, and you get a message if every stack is full.[2]
  • Highlight Storage with Item: finds where an item is stored nearby. It tells you how many locations hold the exact item, and also how many hold the same item type. If neither is found, it says no exact item or item type was found.[2]

These keybinds are listed under the Sophisticated Item Actions category in your controls menu, so you can check or rebind them there. The mod also shows short tip pop-ups for deposit, restock and storage search that tell you which key to press.[2]

Recipe restocking

There is also a feature tied to the recipe viewer. A restock button there (labelled Restock Recipe Ingredients) can pull the ingredients for a recipe from nearby storage. If the ingredients are already available, the mod tells you so. If nothing can be pulled, it says it could not restock any recipe items.[2]

This pack leaves recipe restocking switched on: server.recipeRestockEnabled is set to true. It is a server setting, and when it is off the mod shows a message that recipe restocking is disabled by the server.[2][3]

When an action does nothing

The mod gives you a message for each failure. If no storage is close enough, it says no storage was found in range. A failed deposit says it could not deposit the item, or any items, into any storage. A failed restock says it could not restock the item, or any items, from storage.[2]

Which Sophisticated Item Actions config options matter?

3 parts

There isn't much to tweak for this mod, and most of it is client side. The one server option is about recipe viewer restocking, and the rest is a set of "discovery nudges", which are hints that point you to the mod's features.[3][4]

Server option

server.recipeRestockEnabled is set to true in this pack. That means the restock buttons in the recipe viewer can pull recipe ingredients from nearby storage.[3]

Discovery nudges

The master toggle, client.discoveryNudges.enabled, is set to false in this pack. So you won't see these hints unless you switch it on yourself. The file doesn't list a mod default for this option, so I can't say whether the pack changed it. The options below only matter once the toggle is on.[4]

Every other nudge value in this pack matches the mod default, so you are not missing any pack-specific tuning there.[4]

Cooldowns and limits

Tip: If you're troubleshooting nudges, client.discoveryNudges.debugLogging is false in this pack. Turn it on and the mod logs nudge state transitions to the debug log.[4]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as sophisticateditemactions, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
