What is MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined?

2 parts

MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined is a structure mod for people who like exploring. It adds large, rare temples with challenging encounters, valuable loot and plenty to explore, so it's a good reason to go adventuring.[1]

The temples are larger, overhauled versions that spawn alongside the vanilla ones. They don't replace them, so the vanilla structures are still out there too.[1]

Structures it adds

  • Desert Temple[1]
  • Jungle Temple[1]
  • Ocean Temple[1]
  • Badlands Temple[1]
  • Nether Temple[1]
  • A custom Stronghold[1]

In this pack

This pack ships MTR 2.0.4, using the file MoogsTemplesReimagined-universal-1.21-2.0.4.jar. It has been in the pack since version 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]

The mod is built on MoogsStructureLib and requires it to work, so the library has to be installed alongside it.[1]

How do you get started with MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined?

2 parts

Good news: MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined doesn't ask you to craft anything before you start. It's a structure mod, so your first steps are about going out and finding its temples, not building a machine or a tool.[1][3]

The mod adds larger, overhauled temples alongside the vanilla ones, without replacing them. They're described as large and rare, with challenging encounters and valuable loot, so expect them to take some finding and to test you once you're inside.[1]

Structures to look for

  • Desert Temple[1]
  • Jungle Temple[1]
  • Ocean Temple[1]
  • Badlands Temple[1]
  • Nether Temple[1]
  • Stronghold, a custom version added by the mod[1]

The desert and jungle temples are the ones the mod's own description highlights. They are redesigned for improved loot, better exploration and more engaging encounters, while keeping the authentic Minecraft feel.[3]

What to know before you go

Tip: These temples are made to challenge you and reward your bravery, so go in properly prepared with your usual gear and supplies, and expect to explore rather than rush.[1]

The mod is built on MoogsStructureLib, which it requires to work. You don't need to do anything about that yourself, since the library is part of what makes the temples generate in your world.[1][3]

Unverified The sources here show no in-pack recipes for this mod's items, no quests that involve it and no config files for it, so there is no crafting order or quest-book path to follow. Anything about specific loot or temple contents is not shown in the sources here either.

How does MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined work?

4 parts

MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined is a structure mod, so there are no machines, power or pipes to set up. The mechanics are all about how its temples generate and what lives inside them. The sources I have cover placement, spawners and biome lists, so that is what this section sticks to.[1][3]

What the mod adds

The mod adds larger, overhauled temples alongside the vanilla ones, without replacing them. You get desert, jungle, ocean, badlands and nether temples, plus a custom stronghold. It is built on Moog's Structure Lib (moogs_structures), which it needs in order to work.[1]

How the temples are placed

Temples use the library's own placement type, advanced_random_spread, instead of the vanilla one. The desert temple uses a spacing of 36, a separation of 8 and a frequency of 0.8. The badlands temple uses a spacing of 32 and a separation of 8.[4][5]

The stronghold is listed in the mod's eye_of_ender_located structure tag.[6]

Biome lists

The mod ships a set of biome tags for its structures, for example desert, badlands, ocean, jungle, nether, crimson forest and nether wastes. The desert list holds the vanilla desert plus a few entries from other biome mods, and the ocean list holds the vanilla ocean and deep ocean. Entries from other mods are marked as not required, so they only matter if that mod's biomes exist.[7][8][9][10][11][12]

Spawners inside the temples

Some temples use a spawner randomizing processor from the structure library. It picks what a spawner holds from a weighted list when the structure generates.[13][14]

  • Nether temple spawners pick between piglin (weight 7) and piglin brute (weight 2).[13]
  • Ocean temple spawners hold a guardian (weight 1). The ocean temple also uses a flood with water processor with a flood level of 62.[14]
  • Both spawner setups share the same numbers: a spawn delay between 200 and 800, a spawn count of 4, a spawn range of 4, a maximum of 6 nearby entities and a required player range of 16.[13][14]
Tip: The required player range is 16, so a spawner only works when you are close to it. Expect up to 6 mobs from the same spawner to be around you at once, and plan your fights for that.[13][14]

Unverified Which biome list each temple uses, what the loot tables contain, and how the other temples' spawners are set up all live in the mod's structure and processor data files. The sources here do not show those files, so check them in game or in the mod's data before relying on any of it.

How do you progress through MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined?

3 parts

The sources available for MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined show temple loot tables, not a tier ladder, so this section covers what the temples can give you. Treat it as a loot guide rather than a fixed progression path.[15][16][17]

Badlands temple chests

The common badlands temple chest rolls between 3 and 6 times. Most of what it gives is iron-level material: Iron Ingot (2 to 6), Copper Ingot (3 to 8), Gold Nugget (4 to 12) and Coal (4 to 10). It also holds food, Leather and Terracotta.[15]

Two tools can turn up in these chests: an Iron Pickaxe and an Iron Shovel. Both are damaged when they generate, so don't expect them fresh.[15]

Badlands decorated pots

A badlands decorated pot rolls once. Most of the time you get small stuff like Gold Nugget, Terracotta or Bone. A Gold Ingot (1 to 3) or Emerald (1 to 2) is less common. The pot can also give four pottery sherds: miner, burn, danger and blade.[16]

The rarest results in the pot are the Golden Apple (weight 3) and the Diamond (weight 2).[16]

Desert temple suspicious sand

Brushing the desert temple's suspicious sand gives one result per dig. Pottery sherds are the most likely drops: archer, prize, skull and arms up.[17]

Tip: If you want a diamond, the suspicious sand (weight 6) is a better bet than the badlands decorated pot (weight 2), going by the loot weights.[16][17]

What changed in MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined between versions?

1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships MTR - Moog's Temples Reimagined version 2.0.4. The mod was first included in FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a while.[2]

Version 2.0.4

The mod's own changelog for 2.0.4, the version in this pack, lists two additions:[2][18]

  • Support for Minecraft 26.3.[18]
  • Temples that generate in forests now also turn up in the new dappled forest.[18]

Unverified Whether the FTB Evolution 2 changelogs mention this mod is not shown in the sources here, so check the pack's own changelog for any pack-specific changes.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as mtr, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
