What is Macaw's Paths and Pavings?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Macaw's Paths and Pavings is a building mod from the Macaw's series. It adds vanilla-styled paths and pavings, so you can lay down nice-looking walkways and floors that still fit in with the rest of your builds.[1]

What it adds

  • Wooden paths in all the wooden variations.[1]
  • 6 pavings, with 11 texture variations.[1]
  • Running Bond paths, plus slabs and blocks for them, added in the mod's 1.0.3 update because they also look good for general building.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships version 1.1.1 of the mod, and it has been included since 0.0.1 or earlier. The mod's own page points to an external crafting recipe spreadsheet for how to craft the paths and pavings, but the sources here do not give in-pack recipes for it.[1][2]

Quest book placement

Unverified The sources here do not show any chapter, group or position for this mod in the pack's quest book, and they do not show it on the ATM Star path. Check the pack's quest book itself if you want to be sure.

How do you get started with Macaw's Paths and Pavings?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Macaw's Paths and Pavings is a building mod that adds vanilla-styled paths and pavings. You pick a look and craft it. Wooden paths are made in the crafting grid, and the stone styles are made in a stonecutter, so that's the order to start in.[1][3]

Step 1: Make a wooden path

Start with a wooden path. This pack has one for each wood type, from Oak Planks Path and Spruce Planks Path to Cherry Planks Path, Bamboo Planks Path, Crimson Planks Path and Warped Planks Path. The Oak one is shown below, and the other wood paths use the same kind of recipe.[3]

Crafting Shapeless

  • Oak Slab

Recipe id: mcwpaths:oak_planks_path

A shapeless crafting recipe in this pack.

Step 2: Use a stonecutter for the stone pavings

The stone-style blocks work differently. Pavings, flagstones, running bonds and crystal floors are stonecutting recipes, not crafting grid ones. You'll find andesite, blackstone and brick styles, and the flagstone, running bond and crystal floor families each have path, slab and stairs versions. A good first pick is Andesite Flagstone.[3]

Stonecutting

A stonecutting recipe in this pack.

If you want a matching path piece for it, make Andesite Flagstone Path the same way.[3]

    Stonecutting

Also a stonecutting recipe in this pack.

      Then try the right-click tricks

The mod's tooltips mention two tool interactions. You can engrave by right-clicking with a pickaxe, and you can flatten by right-clicking with a shovel. Keep both tools handy when you place your first paths and pavings.[1][4]

How does Macaw's Paths and Pavings work?

      4 parts

Good news for your build planning: Macaw's Paths and Pavings is a decorative block mod, and what the sources here show is about how its blocks are obtained and what they drop. This section covers those mechanics: how they are crafted, how the stonecutter yields differ, and what happens when you break one.[1][5]

      Wooden paths: shapeless crafting

The pack has a wooden path for every wood type: Oak Planks Path, Spruce Planks Path, Birch Planks Path, Jungle Planks Path, Acacia Planks Path, Dark Oak Planks Path, Mangrove Planks Path, Cherry Planks Path, Pale Oak Planks Path, Bamboo Planks Path, Crimson Planks Path and Warped Planks Path. They are all shapeless crafting recipes, and the oak one below shows what that looks like.[5]

      Crafting Shapeless

      • Oak Slab

      Recipe id: mcwpaths:oak_planks_path

The oak version as an example: one craft gives 3 paths.

      Stone-style paving: stonecutting

The stone-style pieces are made with stonecutting in this pack. The recipe dump counts 304 stonecutting recipes that make blocks from this mod, each with a different result. The yield depends on the shape you pick.[5]

      Stonecutting

        Recipe id: mcwpaths:andesite_flagstone_slab

Andesite Flagstone Slab: a stonecutting recipe that makes 2 slabs.

Several styles share the same set of shapes. Andesite, for example, has the crystal floor, flagstone and running bond families, each with a block, path, slab and stairs. Blackstone has the same crystal floor family, and the language file lists many more materials, including brick, deepslate and dark prismarine.[5][6]

What drops when you break them

Most blocks in the mod drop themselves. Their loot tables give one of the block's own item, with the survives-explosion condition attached. That is the case for Andesite Crystal Floor, the paths, the stairs and the wooden paths.[7][8][9][10]

Slabs are the exception. A double slab drops the slab item twice over, and the drop also uses the explosion decay function. This is how Andesite Flagstone Slab and Andesite Running Bond Slab are set up, and the blackstone crystal floor slab has the same table.[11][12][13][14]

Tip: Stacking slabs into a double slab and breaking it gives you both slabs back, so you can rework a build without losing materials.[12]

        Background

The mod's project page says its first version added wooden paths and 6 pavings with 11 texture variations. Version 1.0.3 then added Running Bond paths, plus slabs and blocks of that style.[1]

How do you progress through Macaw's Paths and Pavings?

        3 parts

Macaw's Paths and Pavings is a building-block mod, and the sources for this pack show it as a set of recipes sorted by material, not a ladder of tiers. Every recipe shown is a single step, so you can make any of these blocks as soon as you have the right base material in hand.[5]

        Wooden paths

The pack has a wooden path for every wood type in the list: Oak Planks Path, Spruce Planks Path, Birch Planks Path, Jungle Planks Path, Acacia Planks Path, Dark Oak Planks Path, Mangrove Planks Path, Cherry Planks Path, Pale Oak Planks Path, Bamboo Planks Path, Crimson Planks Path and Warped Planks Path.[5]

        Crafting Shapeless

        • Oak Slab

        Recipe id: mcwpaths:oak_planks_path

The oak version shows the pattern. The other wood types follow the same shapeless crafting recipe type and also make 3 paths.

        Stone and brick patterns

The stone-style blocks are made by stonecutting. The pack has 304 stonecutting recipes that make blocks from this mod, each with a different result. The recipes written out for this guide cover four materials: andesite, blackstone, brick and cobbled deepslate.[5]

Each kind of block has its own stonecutting recipe, and the recipe blocks below show the pack's result. That covers paving patterns such as Andesite Clover Paving, path variants such as Andesite Flagstone Path, slabs such as Andesite Flagstone Slab, full blocks such as Andesite Flagstone and stairs such as Andesite Flagstone Stairs.[5]

        Stonecutting

          Recipe id: mcwpaths:andesite_clover_paving

A stonecutting recipe that makes 4 clover paving blocks.

          Stonecutting

            Recipe id: mcwpaths:andesite_flagstone_path

A stonecutting recipe that makes 4 flagstone paths.

            Stonecutting

              Recipe id: mcwpaths:andesite_flagstone_slab

A stonecutting recipe that makes 2 flagstone slabs.

              Patterns available per material

Andesite, blackstone and brick each have the same set of patterns written out in the recipe list: basket weave paving, clover paving, crystal floor, diamond paving, dumble paving, flagstone, honeycomb paving, running bond, square paving, strewn rocky path and windmill weave. Most of the full-block patterns also come as path, slab and stairs variants. Cobbled deepslate has basket weave, clover, crystal floor, diamond and dumble entries in the list.[5]
