What is Macaw's Paths and Pavings?
3 parts
Macaw's Paths and Pavings is a building mod from the Macaw's series. It adds vanilla-styled paths and pavings, so you can lay down nice-looking walkways and floors that still fit in with the rest of your builds.[1]
What it adds
- Wooden paths in all the wooden variations.[1]
- 6 pavings, with 11 texture variations.[1]
- Running Bond paths, plus slabs and blocks for them, added in the mod's 1.0.3 update because they also look good for general building.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships version 1.1.1 of the mod, and it has been included since 0.0.1 or earlier. The mod's own page points to an external crafting recipe spreadsheet for how to craft the paths and pavings, but the sources here do not give in-pack recipes for it.[1][2]
Quest book placement
Unverified The sources here do not show any chapter, group or position for this mod in the pack's quest book, and they do not show it on the ATM Star path. Check the pack's quest book itself if you want to be sure.
How do you get started with Macaw's Paths and Pavings?
3 parts
Macaw's Paths and Pavings is a building mod that adds vanilla-styled paths and pavings. You pick a look and craft it. Wooden paths are made in the crafting grid, and the stone styles are made in a stonecutter, so that's the order to start in.[1][3]
Step 1: Make a wooden path
Start with a wooden path. This pack has one for each wood type, from Oak Planks Path and Spruce Planks Path to Cherry Planks Path, Bamboo Planks Path, Crimson Planks Path and Warped Planks Path. The Oak one is shown below, and the other wood paths use the same kind of recipe.[3]

Step 2: Use a stonecutter for the stone pavings
The stone-style blocks work differently. Pavings, flagstones, running bonds and crystal floors are stonecutting recipes, not crafting grid ones. You'll find andesite, blackstone and brick styles, and the flagstone, running bond and crystal floor families each have path, slab and stairs versions. A good first pick is Andesite Flagstone.[3]

If you want a matching path piece for it, make Andesite Flagstone Path the same way.[3]

Then try the right-click tricks
The mod's tooltips mention two tool interactions. You can engrave by right-clicking with a pickaxe, and you can flatten by right-clicking with a shovel. Keep both tools handy when you place your first paths and pavings.[1][4]
How does Macaw's Paths and Pavings work?
2 parts
There is nothing to wire up here. Macaw's Paths and Pavings adds vanilla-styled paths and pavings, and the sources for this pack describe no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for it. The mechanics come down to how you craft the blocks and how you shape them in the world.[1]
Getting the blocks
The wooden paths, like Oak Planks Path and Bamboo Planks Path, are made with shapeless crafting recipes. The pack has one for each wood type in the sources, including crimson, warped and pale oak.[3]
Wooden paths use shapeless crafting in this pack.
The stone pavings, such as Andesite Flagstone and Andesite Running Bond, use stonecutting recipes. The same goes for their path, slab and stairs versions, for example Andesite Running Bond Slab and Andesite Windmill Weave Stairs. So a stonecutter is the place to look for them.[3]
Stone paving variants like this slab are stonecutting recipes in this pack.
Shaping blocks with tools
The mod's own descriptions mention two right-click interactions. You engrave by right-clicking with a pickaxe, and you flatten by right-clicking with a shovel.[4]
How do you progress through Macaw's Paths and Pavings?
2 parts
The recipe data for this pack shows no tier ladder for Macaw's Paths and Pavings. What it does show is a split by material: wood paths are crafted at a crafting table, and the stone-style paving is made by stonecutting.[3]
Wood paths: crafting table
Every plank path in the recipe data is a shapeless crafting recipe. That covers Oak Planks Path, Spruce Planks Path, Birch Planks Path, Jungle Planks Path, Acacia Planks Path, Dark Oak Planks Path, Mangrove Planks Path, Cherry Planks Path, Pale Oak Planks Path, Bamboo Planks Path, Crimson Planks Path and Warped Planks Path.[3]
The oak path as an example. The other plank paths use the same shapeless crafting recipe type.
Stone and brick paving: stonecutting
The stone-style designs are stonecutting recipes. The recipes in the data cover andesite, blackstone, brick and cobbled deepslate sets. Patterns include basket weave paving, clover paving, diamond paving, dumble paving, honeycomb paving, square paving and strewn rocky path.[3]
Some patterns also come as path, slab and stairs versions: flagstone, running bond, windmill weave and crystal floor. For example, Andesite Flagstone has Andesite Flagstone Path, Andesite Flagstone Slab and Andesite Flagstone Stairs.[3]
