What is Just Hammers?
2 parts
Just Hammers adds big mining hammers to the game. Instead of breaking one block at a time, a hammer mines a whole area in one swing, which is great for clearing space fast.[1]
This pack ships Just Hammers 26.1.2.1 for NeoForge, and it has been in the pack since 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]
What you get
- Iron, Gold, Diamond and Netherite hammers.[1]
- Each of those comes in tiers that increase the area you mine. The smallest starts at 3x3x1 and the biggest reaches 5x5x5. The mod page also mentions 3x3x3 and 5x5x3 sizes along the way.[1]
- Durability scales with the tier.[1]
- Tooltips tell you what each hammer does, so you can check in-game before you swing.[1]
Things to know
The mod's own page lists two known issues. Vein miner style mods can be used together with the hammers, and the mined area can sometimes shift in a strange way because of how block breaking and look direction are calculated.[1]
How do you get started with Just Hammers?
4 parts
Just Hammers adds hammers that break a whole area of blocks in one swing instead of a single block. The area grows with the hammer tier, from 3x3x1 up to 5x5x5, and the tooltip on each hammer tells you how big its area is.[1][3]
First: craft a Stone Hammer
Start with the Stone Hammer. It is crafted with the mod's own shaped crafting recipe, so you don't need any forge setup to try it out.[4]

This is the mod's own crafting recipe, not changed by the pack.
Next: cast the metal hammers
From iron upwards, the pack uses casting instead of crafting. The Iron Hammer, Gold Hammer, Diamond Hammer and Netherite Hammer all come from a casting table from Hephaestus Forge, using 270 of the matching molten metal. These recipes are added by the pack.[4]
Cast from 270 molten iron.
Cast from 270 molten gold.
Cast from 270 molten diamond.

Cast from 270 molten netherite.
Then: the other variants
Each metal also has Impact, Reinforced, Reinforced Impact and Destructor versions. The stone versions are crafted like the Stone Hammer. The iron, gold, diamond and netherite versions are cast, and each one needs 2,430 of the matching molten metal, far more than the 270 for the plain hammer.[4]
Casting Table (hephaestus)
Recipe id: ftb:justhammers/iron_reinforced_hammer
An example of one of these variants: 2,430 molten iron.
The pack also adds casting recipes for cores, each costing 1,620 of a molten metal: Impact Core and Reinforced Core use molten gold, while Destruction Core and Reinforced Impact Core use molten diamond.[4]
Durability and repairs
Each repair item restores 33.33 percent of a hammer's durability (durabilityRepairPercentage.value). Netherite hammers are restored by 100 percent per repair item (durabilityRepairPercentageNetherite.value).[5]
How does Just Hammers work?
3 parts
Just Hammers is about one thing: hammers that break a whole area of blocks with a single swing. The sources here do not describe any machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling for this mod, so this section covers how the area mining works, how durability behaves in this pack, and how the pack has you make the hammers.[1]
Area mining
The mod's hammers mine in larger areas than a normal pickaxe. The project page lists 3x3, 3x3x3, 5x5x1, 5x5x3 and finally 5x5x5. The hammer tiers increase the area of effect, starting at 3x3x1 and going all the way up to 5x5x5, and durability scales with the tier.[1]
Each hammer has a tooltip that reads "Mines a AxBxC area" with the numbers filled in for that hammer, so you can check its size on the item itself.[3]
All the hammers share one item tag. They come in stone, iron, gold, diamond and netherite materials, and each material has plain, impact, reinforced, reinforced impact and destructor variants. For example, there is the Iron Hammer, the Gold Impact Hammer, the Diamond Reinforced Hammer and the Netherite Destructor Hammer.[3][6]
Durability and repair
Hammers are built not to break. They drop to 1 durability and can then be repaired in an anvil. This pack keeps that behaviour: allowHammerBreaking.value is set to false. The option's own comment says that setting it to true lets hammers break when they run out of durability.[1][5]
When a hammer is getting low, its tooltip warns you with "Hammer durability nearing 0%!". The pack leaves this tooltip on, because disabledDurabilityTooltip.value is false.[3][5]
- durabilityRepairPercentage.value is 33.33 in this pack. That is the percentage of durability restored per repair item.[5]
- durabilityRepairPercentageNetherite.value is 100 in this pack. That is the percentage restored per repair item for netherite hammers, so a single repair item fully restores one.[5]
How the pack has you make hammers
In this pack the iron, gold, diamond and netherite hammers are cast on a casting table from Hephaestus Forge, using the molten metal that matches the hammer's material. These are pack-added recipes. The stone hammers keep the mod's own shaped crafting recipes.[4]
Iron, gold, diamond and netherite hammers each take 270 of their molten metal. The impact, reinforced and destructor variants in the recipe list take 2,430 instead.[4]
A plain Iron Hammer is cast on a casting table from 270 molten iron.

Recipe id: ftb:justhammers/diamond_destructor_hammer
The destructor variants cost 2,430 of the molten metal, here molten diamond.
The pack also casts cores. The Impact Core takes 1,620 molten gold, and the Destruction Core takes 1,620 molten diamond.[4]

How do you progress through Just Hammers?
3 parts
Just Hammers has a simple ladder: the hammers come in stone, iron, gold, diamond and netherite versions. Each material has the same set of types: the plain hammer, the impact hammer, the reinforced hammer, the reinforced impact hammer and the destructor hammer.[6]
Stone
Stone is where you start. Every stone hammer, starting with the Stone Hammer, uses the mod's own shaped crafting recipe, and the pack has not replaced those.[4]

| Empty slot | Stick | Stone |
| Empty slot | Stick | Empty slot |
Recipe id: justhammers:stone_hammer
The stone hammer is a normal crafting recipe from the mod itself.
Iron, gold, diamond and netherite
From iron upwards the pack changes how you get hammers. Every iron, gold, diamond and netherite hammer has a recipe added by the pack, cast at the Hephaestus casting table from one molten metal. The metal matches the tier: Molten Iron, Molten Gold, Molten Diamond or Molten Netherite. The recipes show no other inputs. See Hephaestus Forge for that side of the setup.[4]
The cost depends on the type. A plain hammer needs 270 of its molten metal. The impact, reinforced, reinforced impact and destructor hammers each need 2,430, and that holds at every tier from iron to netherite.[4]
- Iron Hammer: 270 Molten Iron. The iron impact, reinforced, reinforced impact and destructor hammers each cost 2,430 Molten Iron.[4]
- Gold Hammer: 270 Molten Gold. The other gold types each cost 2,430 Molten Gold.[4]
- Diamond Hammer: 270 Molten Diamond. The other diamond types each cost 2,430 Molten Diamond.[4]
- Netherite Hammer: 270 Molten Netherite. The other netherite types each cost 2,430 Molten Netherite.[4]
The pack casts the iron hammer from molten iron instead of crafting it.
Casting Table (hephaestus)
Recipe id: ftb:justhammers/netherite_destructor_hammer
The netherite destructor hammer uses the larger amount of molten netherite.
Cores
The mod also has core items, and the pack casts each of them at the casting table for 1,620 of one molten metal. The Impact Core and Reinforced Core use Molten Gold. The Destruction Core and Reinforced Impact Core use Molten Diamond.[4]
Casting Table (hephaestus)
Recipe id: ftb:justhammers/destructor_core
The Destruction Core is cast from 1,620 Molten Diamond.
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest-book placement for these hammers, so which quest chapter, if any, points you toward them is not confirmed.
How does Just Hammers work with other mods?
2 parts
The one real link between Just Hammers and the rest of the pack is Hephaestus Forge. In this pack, every hammer and every core from Just Hammers that has a recipe in the sources is cast on a Hephaestus casting table from a molten metal. All of these recipes are added by the pack.[4]
Hammers come from molten metal
Each hammer metal maps to its matching molten fluid: iron hammers use Molten Iron, gold hammers use Molten Gold, diamond hammers use Molten Diamond and netherite hammers use Molten Netherite. The cost depends on the hammer type, not on the metal.[4]
- The plain hammer of each metal, for example the Iron Hammer or the Netherite Hammer, costs 270 of its molten metal.[4]
- The impact, reinforced, reinforced impact and destructor hammers of each metal all cost 2,430 of their molten metal. That covers the Gold Impact Hammer, Diamond Reinforced Hammer, Iron Reinforced Impact Hammer and Netherite Destructor Hammer, for example.[4]

Cores are cast too
The core items are also casting table recipes, and each costs 1,620 of its molten metal. Here is which fluid each one uses.[4]
- Impact Core: molten gold.[4]
- Reinforced Core: molten gold.[4]
- Destruction Core: molten diamond.[4]
- Reinforced Impact Core: molten diamond.[4]

Which Just Hammers config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Just Hammers has a small config, and all of it lives in one file. There are four options, and they cover hammer breaking, the durability tooltip and how much repairing restores. Here is exactly how the pack sets each one.[7]
Hammer breaking
allowHammerBreaking.value is set to false in this pack. That option controls whether hammers break when they run out of durability, so here they don't. This matches the mod's description: a hammer drops to 1 durability and can then be repaired in an anvil.[1][7]
Durability tooltip
disabledDurabilityTooltip.value is false. The durability tooltip on hammers is therefore not disabled, and you still see it when you hover over one.[7]
Repair amounts
- durabilityRepairPercentage.value is 33.33. This is the percentage of durability restored per repair item.[7]
- durabilityRepairPercentageNetherite.value is 100. This is the percentage restored per repair item for netherite hammers.[7]
What changed in Just Hammers between versions?
1 part
Just Hammers has a short history in this pack. FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships version 26.1.2.1 of the mod, and the mod was first included in pack version 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]
Just Hammers 26.1.2.1
- Changed: the mod was updated to NeoForge 26.1.2.21-beta to resolve a breaking change. The mod's own changelog lists nothing else for this release.[8]
That is a compatibility update, so the changelog does not describe any change to how the hammers play.[8]
Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for Just Hammers, so any change to the mod between pack releases is not shown. Check the FTB Evolution 2 pack changelog for anything beyond the mod's own release notes.
