What is Infinity Drives?

2 parts

Infinity Drives gives you infinite water, lava and cobblestone from one compact setup. It adds a single block and a few drive items. You place drives into the block's GUI, and the block then holds an infinite amount of that item or fluid.[1]

The pack ships Infinity Drives 2.0.2. It was already in the pack by version 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[2]

Working with other storage and logistics

  • With AE2, connect the block through a Storage Bus. The contents show up as the max integer value and the items are never used up.[1]
  • With Refined Storage, connect it through an External Storage. It also shows the max integer value, and the items are never used up.[1]
  • Most mods that use item handlers and fluid handlers should work with it too, for example BBL Routers.[1]

If you like scripting, custom drives can be added through KubeJS.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

Unverified The sources here do not show a chapter, group or position for this mod in the pack's quest book. They also do not show whether the ATM Star path uses it. Check the pack's quest book for those details.

How do you get started with Infinity Drives?

4 parts

Infinity Drives is a small mod with a simple idea: you craft one block, slot drives into it, and the block then holds an unlimited amount of whatever the drive contains. Here is the order I'd make things in.[1][3]

First: the storage block

Start with the Infinity Storage Drive Block. It is the only block the mod adds, and the drives go into its GUI. Its tooltip says that once it is filled with an Infinity Drive it provides an unlimited amount of that resource.[1][3]

Next: the empty drive

Then make an Empty Infinity Drive. It is a separate item with its own recipe in this pack.[3][4]

Then: pick your filled drives

The pack has recipes for filled drives holding water, lava, cobblestone, stone, dirt, sand and gravel. The project page highlights water, lava and cobblestone, so here are those recipes first.[1][4]

There are also drives for stone, dirt, sand and gravel: Infinity Stone Drive, Infinity Dirt Drive, Infinity Sand Drive and Infinity Gravel Drive. Each has its own recipe in this pack.[3][4]

Finally: put a drive in the block

  1. Place the Infinity Storage Drive Block where you want your supply.[1]
  2. Open its GUI and put a drive in. The block then contains an infinite amount of that item or fluid.[1]
Tip: The project page says the block works with mods that use item and fluid handlers. With AE2 via a Storage Bus, or Refined Storage via an External Storage, the amount shows as the maximum integer and the items are never used up. The page also says custom drives can be added through KubeJS.[1]

How does Infinity Drives work?

4 parts

Infinity Drives is a small mod with a very simple idea. It adds a single block, the Infinity Storage Drive Block, plus a handful of drive items. Put a drive into the block's GUI and the block holds an infinite amount of that item or fluid.[1][3]

The block's own tooltip says the same thing: when filled with an Infinity Drive, it provides an unlimited amount of that resource.[3]

The storage block

There is no multiblock, no power and no machine processing here. The block is the whole system, and what it supplies depends on which drive you load into it.[1]

When you break the block, its loot table drops the block itself, with no extra conditions beyond surviving an explosion.[5]

The drives

The mod ships these drive items. Each one has its own crafting recipe in this pack, and there is also an empty drive.[3][4]

Automation and storage networks

The block works with mods that use item handlers and fluid handlers, so you can pull from it with the usual pipe, router or storage-network tools. The mod's page names BBL Routers as one example.[1]

Storage networks see it too. Connect it with a Storage Bus in AE2 or an External Storage in Refined Storage, and the contents show up as the maximum integer value. Items taken from it are never used up.[1]

Tip: Because the network shows the maximum integer rather than a true infinite count, treat it as a bottomless supply that never drains, not as a number that goes up.[1]

Custom drives

The mod's page says custom drives can be added through KubeJS. The sources here do not show whether this pack adds any beyond the ones listed above.[1]

How do you progress through Infinity Drives?

2 parts

This is a short section. The pack's data shows me what exists and how it is crafted, but it does not show a ladder of tiers. Infinity Drives adds an Empty Infinity Drive, an Infinity Storage Drive Block, and a set of drives named after the resource they hold.[4]

Every one of these has a shaped crafting recipe, and the pack lists them all as the mod's own recipes. The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack ingredients and layout, so check them there.[4]

What changed in Infinity Drives between versions?

1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Infinity Drives at version 2.0.2. The mod was already in the pack by 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]

2.0.2

  • The mod's own changelog lists one change: unused KubeJS files were removed. It doesn't mention any gameplay change, so you don't need to adjust anything in your world.[6]
