What is Crafting Tweaks?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Crafting Tweaks adds small buttons to crafting tables so you can rotate, balance or clear the crafting grid with one click. It's a quality-of-life mod: it doesn't add new items or machines, it just makes crafting faster and less fiddly.[1]

The pack includes version 21.1.11 of the NeoForge 1.21.1 build. It also supports many modded crafting tables, not just the vanilla one.[1][2]

What it does

  • Rotate the outer circle of the crafting grid.[1]
  • Balance the materials in the grid so the stack sizes are even.[1]
  • Clear the grid back into your inventory.[1]
  • Hold Shift on the balance button to spread a single stack across the entire grid.[1]
  • Right-click the result slot to craft a full stack at once.[1]
  • Use a keybind to compress items into their 3x3 or 2x2 recipe form. It can also compress or decompress blocks into their block or ingot forms.[1]
  • Hold the W key while clicking items to transfer them into the grid. Shift+W transfers all items of that type.[1]

Who it's for

If you do a lot of bulk crafting, this saves you a lot of clicking. The mod is bi-optional, so only the players who want it need to install it. If a server doesn't have it, it still works for the players who do.[1]

Tip: Crafting Tweaks needs the Balm library installed alongside it. The pack already includes the mod, so you only need to think about this if you're building your own mod list.[1][2]

Unverified The sources don't show where Crafting Tweaks fits into the pack's progression, and they don't show any quests or ATM Star path steps involving it. Treat it as an optional convenience you can use from the start. The sources also don't show any pack-specific changes to its recipes or configs.

How do you get started with Crafting Tweaks?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Crafting Tweaks is a quality-of-life mod, so there is nothing to build before you use it. Open a supported crafting table and you will find extra buttons that let you rotate, balance or clear the crafting grid with one click.[1]

Your first few minutes with it

  1. Open a crafting table and look for the added buttons. One rotates the outer circle of the grid, one balances the materials to even stack sizes, and one clears the grid into your inventory.[1]
  2. Hold shift on the balance button to spread a single stack over the whole grid. That is handy when you are crafting something that needs the same item in every slot.[1]
  3. Right-click the result slot to craft an entire stack in one go.[1]
  4. Hold the W key while clicking items to move them into the grid. Shift+W transfers all items of that type.[1]
  5. Use the compress keybind to turn stacks of items into their 3x3 or 2x2 recipe result, such as blocks or ingots. The mod can also decompress them.[1]
Tip: If the clear button would leave no room, the mod drops items if necessary. Keep some inventory space free so your materials do not end up on the floor.[3]

Tuning it to your taste

The client config has a mode setting. DEFAULT enables both buttons and hotkeys, BUTTONS gives you buttons only, HOTKEYS gives you hotkeys only, and DISABLED turns the mod off completely. There is also a Hide Vanilla Crafting Guide option, which hides vanilla's recipe book button instead of moving it. If you keep the button, two offset options set where it sits.[3]

On the common side, the compress feature normally needs a crafting grid open. A config option can lift that, but it only works if the mod is installed on the server and you are in your player inventory. A separate denylist lets you stop specific modid:name entries from being crafted by the compress key.[3]

The mod needs Balm installed alongside it. It is also bi-optional: only the players who want it need to install it, and it still works for them if the server does not have it.[1]

How does Crafting Tweaks work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Crafting Tweaks is a quality-of-life mod that adds buttons and keybinds to crafting grids. The sources describe nothing about machines, power or pipes for it, so this section covers what the buttons and shortcuts do and which settings the mod describes.[1]

What the grid buttons do

  • Rotate: turns the outer circle of the crafting grid.[1]
  • Balance: evens out the materials in the grid so the stack sizes match. Hold Shift on the balance button to spread a single stack over the entire grid.[1]
  • Clear: moves the contents of the grid into your inventory. A tooltip in the mod's language file says the forced clear "drops items if necessary", so keep some inventory space free.[1][3]

The buttons appear on many supported crafting tables, including many modded ones.[1]

Other shortcuts

  • Right-click the result slot to craft a full stack in one go.[1][3]
  • Hold the W key while clicking items to transfer them into the grid. Shift+W transfers all items of that type.[1]
  • A compress keybind turns stacks of items into their 3x3 or 2x2 recipe result, such as blocks or ingots. It also works in reverse to decompress.[1]

Configuration options

The mod's language file describes several settings. The client-side mode setting decides whether you get buttons, hotkeys, both, or neither:[3]

  • DEFAULT enables both buttons and hotkeys.[3]
  • BUTTONS enables buttons only.[3]
  • HOTKEYS enables hotkeys only.[3]
  • DISABLED turns the mod off completely.[3]

The other settings the language file describes are:[3]

  • A disabled-addons list lets you add mod ids to turn off Crafting Tweaks support for those mods.[3]
  • A right-click option controls whether right-clicking the result slot of a crafting table crafts a full stack.[3]
  • You can hide the vanilla recipe book button instead of moving it. If you keep it, two offset options reposition it, one measured from the right and one from the top.[3]
  • A compress denylist takes modid:name entries that the compress key will not craft.[3]
  • The compress-requires-crafting-grid option can be set to false so (de)compress works outside crafting screens. This only works if the mod is installed on the server and you are in the player inventory.[3]

Installation notes

Crafting Tweaks requires Balm to be installed alongside it. It is also "bi-optional": only the players who want it need to install it, and it still works for them if the server doesn't have it.[1]

Unverified The pack's actual values for these settings (default mode, whether right-click crafts a full stack, the compress denylist and so on) are not shown in the sources here, because no config files for this mod were available. They are set in the mod's own configuration.

Which Crafting Tweaks config options matter?

4 parts

Crafting Tweaks keeps its settings in one file, config/craftingtweaks-common.toml. These are the options you are most likely to touch, with the values this pack ships.[4]

Buttons and hotkeys

client.mode is set to "DEFAULT" in this pack, which turns on both the grid buttons and the hotkeys. The other allowed values are BUTTONS (buttons only), HOTKEYS (hotkeys only) and DISABLED (switches the mod's features off completely).[4]

client.disabledAddons is an empty list here, so Crafting Tweaks support is not turned off for any other mod. Adding a mod id to this list disables support for that mod.[4]

Crafting a full stack

client.rightClickCraftsStack is true in this pack. Right-clicking the result slot of a crafting table crafts a full stack in one go.[1][4]

The vanilla recipe book button

client.hideVanillaCraftingGuide is false, so the vanilla recipe book button is not hidden. Instead the mod repositions it: client.vanillaCraftingGuideOffsetX is -25 (offset from the right) and client.vanillaCraftingGuideOffsetY is 5 (offset from the top). Setting the hide option to true hides the button instead of moving it.[4]

Compress and decompress

The mod has a keybind that compresses or decompresses items into their block or ingot forms.[1]

What changed in Crafting Tweaks between versions?

Crafting Tweaks is at version 26.1.2.3 in FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0. It was first included in FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a while.[5]

The one change the sources show is in the mod's own 26.1.2.3 changelog: it fixed a crash with abnormal ImageButtons added by other mods. If you run a lot of other mods that add their own buttons to screens, that is the fix that matters for you.[6]

Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, and the sources here do not show which version of Crafting Tweaks earlier pack releases shipped or what changed between them.

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as craftingtweaks, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
